Hi all
So after a couple weeks of coding, fixing bugs and asking for help, my first project, TGHub is here.
This program, or game, is, as the name suggests, a hub of games and utilities in one executable.
So far I have a slot machine, some music instraments, and some very weird clipboard utilities.

I hope you all enjoy, and I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say. If you have any feature requests, please feel free to tell me.
Enjoy

hi!
Nce job! I think the slot machineneeds to cut after you press enter. because it just goes on and on and on.also speeking of fixing spelling and grammar errors, did someone not tell you about how instraments is spelled instruments? it's like, noticeable with some synths.

If anyone's going to bash or lash at me for this, go ahead. But I really, really think this needs to be voiced or else I'll go nuts.
I don't mean to bash or anything but...it's like everyone who learns to code has to release something totally the same and same  and same and call it their games. When those in fact are actually something they've been practicing coding on. If 5000 people learn to code and release 5000 of these junk games, wouldn't be their first new games for everyone and wouldn't it make 5000 topics of basically the same shit? Look how many casino and clipboard utilities we have. We already have all of these, so no need to add more to it.
If you really want to release something, please, for community's sake, make it fresh and worth releasing, not every junk that results from you learning how to do something with codes. It's like 15000 bgt learners release guess the number crap and call that their first game. Sorry, no.

*shakes head* and 6 is the reason devs are so hesitant to post anything they make to this forum.

I've been going by Bryn, which is now reflected in my profile. Please do your best to respect this :) Mess ups are totally OK though, I don't mind and totally understand!

Nope, 6 is exactly on point here. Devs need to learn that the market for simple traditional games is gone, we have enough simplistic games flying around. If you start producing, demonstrate these games to a smaller group of people or only in the dev room as early alphas and continue from there.
You would think that other blind people who played the same boring games over and over again would have realised this by now, but apparently, this isn't the case at all.

Greetings Moritz.

Hi, please add something approximating black keys to the piano, and add high hat sounds to the drumbs since it has so many snares anyway. Also maybe add some more skales, not just g. Finally, that slot machine isn't a slot machine. For a slots game, you'd pull the handle and then you'd see three different wheels spinning with various pictures on them, and if you got the right combination of pictures, you'd win and anything else would make you lose.

I used to be a knee like you, then I took an adventurer in the arrow.

Of course, you are entitled to your opinion. Here's mine. If you don't like it, don't play it and shut up.

Alright then, let all developpers in the community who only know how to do three things with code release those three things they know they can do and flood this forum with games consist of those three things. Let's see how good it goes.
And look at that, says a developper who's the most reliable dev ever. You know what? I never give a shit about your game even though I admittedly tried tombhunter. And you know why? Because you yourself never make sense. You got that right at your face and look what you did. You can't tell me to shut up in this topic unless at least someone more sensible and reasonable tells me to, because this is not a topic about your game, and as I said, I wouldn't even look at it if it a game masonian makes, unless someone kindly asks me to try or something, but then I'd try and get bored anyway because it's the same shit. Now I ask you, is that how a professional developper treat people, with so much respect and curticy? Thank you for letting me see that side of yours.
And, post 6 wasn't written in an intent to discourage ty from developing games. I just want to point out that we have far too many of those developpers wanting to test codes so they release guess the number/music/clipboard tools/casino games all over the place. Look at the list in the database, and look at whatever outside the database. Don't we have all of those already? What's the point of making more?
But if you, yeah you again, who's so brittle to even constructive critism, want to take it personally and make a big deal out of it then go ahead. No one's gonna stop you. But then it's you who trouble yourself, not me. And while I don't expect anyone to like what I say here and what I said in post 6, I never rudely tell anyone to shut up and fuck off just because they step on that brittle mind of yours. Go ahead and release more junk. People will love it.

12, I have to wonder some times weather or not we would still have devs like sam, philip, heck even mason if you and others had acted like this when they were all cherning out small test projects. I do seriously wonder about this forum sometimes. Just because some devs start big, you can't expect everyone to do that, least of all a kid developing as a hobby. It's called testing the waters.

2019-09-11 18:21:11

I don't think I said fuck off. There you go putting words in my mouth.

Oh and never once did I say I'm professional. again putting words in my mouth.

I'm me. take it or leave it as you will. I don't pretend to be professional, professional is overrated anyway. Lol!

And you may as well not have developers like me or Sam. Sam's projects are as good as dead and we all know why, same as mine. I release updates for those who care. Wonder why you haven't seen any new releases from me? It's because of people like 12 who have funtimes going basically hey you shouldn't release shit anywhere because it's too basic. Something you may think is basic may be something someone else is proud of because after 2 or 3 years he's finally managed to make something at least semi cool. Just because you may have made a whole online game with my SQL and scoreboards doesn't put you higher than anyone else. That just ain't how that works. I'm always happy to help people who are trying to learn. Which is why you don't see me out here bashing new devs under the sun just because I may not like their project or I think it's too basic. Anyways, I'll shut up now because apparently my opinion is the unpopular one here. Shrug.

Fine, you may be right about fuck off and professional. But look, is this how a responsible and sensible dev would say to people just because they disagree with their opinion? Look at how you worded it in your 11th post. If it wasn't because of that post, I wouldn't have said shit. You offended me, I wouldn't even mind, but you offended Simba too by slapping your so called ego right at his face. Is this what a worth respected dev does?
And at both 13 and 14, when did I say I wanted something big? I didn't say that. All I tried to point out was that our community needs something worth playing. It doesn't have to be big. It can be as small as a crap with high score, but at least it has to be worth playing, not one of a billion games we already have.
And for the record, I too like and want to help people learn, even though I myself don't know coding. I like it when people learn and grow from what they learn. I never say Ty's game is shit or anything. It can be good enough for someone who just learnt coding, and that's an accomplishment. But what if 15 devs do it? Wouldn't our new releases forum have this kind of games and topics all over? He could have released it in dev room, get feedback from there and learns to do even more with his code. That is not to say I dislike his games. I like it when people give him suggestions about how to improve it. I just point out that you have plenty of places to release your code and have someone who know better help you grow even more from it, and that's all about my point.

16, fair point. I let my temper get the best of me in that moment, and I shouldn't have said shut up. I apologize.

I'm not perfect, and sometimes things slip, though I've been trying my damn best to keep my temper under control and today I guess just wasn't one of those days.

Hey, that's better.:)
At least I still have at least one reason to respect you as a dev, that is the fact that you actually do apologize for what you did wrong. I too have to apologize for being blunt and brash in the last few posts, for the exact same reason. I don't mind and I like it when people differ in opinions, but to start going harsh on others just because you disagree with them isn't something I'd like to see, especially in this already kinda broken blind community.

2019-09-11 18:49:58

I guess my main point was I felt Ty's work to try to get off his ass and actually make something that wasn't a clone was getting bashed on, which I now understand isn't the case at all. Wurps. Anyways. back to your regularly schedule fixing and requesting about TG hub.

@6, +1.

2019-09-11 22:47:58

Agreed with 6. People release things like this when they're no where near ready. Posting WIP stuff in the dev room looking for feedback is better imo.

A few things.
One: I don't personally see this as being in the wrong room. Maybe I did rush the release slightly, but I was just excited to have made something with some cool games and utilities that actually ran, after lots of trying.
Second, plans for the next update. I already fixed the spelling you pointed out, thanks rorry, you'll be credited in the CL. I have already added a few other random things, like a game that tests how fast you can mash your spacebar in 15 seconds. I hope to add levels, AKA, choosing how long the timer should be for, and hopefully add a high score system, but i haven't been able to get that to work yet. Another thing in this update that you can expect is this random jibberish generator. I was on tt with a friend talking about this game, and she suggested a random letter and number generator. So I made that, IDK, it's just for fun. I'm hoping to add the black keys to the piano, but I need to get some sounds for that first. If anyone knows of any sources, please do let me know. I'm also trying to make it so if you hit escape while playing an instrument or playing the space game, it will bring you to the main menu. Haven't got that to work yet. And I'm also trying to make the slot machine more realistic, and that's prooving to be quite a task. Also I have school now again, so i have less time to code, so it will probably be a while until this update comes out. Just wanted to give you all an update on how it's going. Again, if you have any suggestions, feel free to post them in this topic, and I'll attempt to the best of my ability to add them.
Cheers!

I'm late to the discussion, but I'm throwing my 2 cents in anyway.

I definitely think this should have been posted in developers room. One thing that not enough people do is read the submission guidelines before posting their project. And I haven't seen anyone reference it in a long time.

Simply telling people don't post this we already have a thousand of these, isn't going to change anything. Tell the OP to look at the submission guidelines, and let them know it might be better in another room. And politely inform them that there have been several of these already made, so maybe they should share this project to a smaller group, like a small group of friends, instead of making it a title here on the forum.

There are ways to inform people, and as already discussed in the thread, obviously it wasn't used. So instead of restating what has already been said, I wanted to give a solution, so this doesn't happen as often. Reading the guidelines is something most people don't remind themselves to do. I admit, they may be intimidating to a user's first project, and I think they are a little too narrow, but they are useful, they do exist.

I was going to throw in my 2 cents about developers and their role, and users and their role, but the discussion has ended so I will not start it up again.
