Itching for the days hen I used to be on Miriani, Star Conquest, or best of all, Galaxy Web Space Epic when it was still around... anything similar that's decently big and drama free that has some decent audio to back it up?

Itching for the days hen I used to be on Miriani, Star Conquest, or best of all, Galaxy Web Space Epic when it was still around... anything similar that's decently big and drama free that has some decent audio to back it up?
cosmic rage
Haven't exactly heard good things about it... unfortunately. lol I hope this isn't the only one people from this forum are playing... are there no bigger ones that are still active?
i dont know what you have exactly heard, but the game is going with ups and downs for 3 years with growing playerbase evryday
the hosts are listening players feedback and making changes from the feedback they have receaved
maybe you should try it out bye yourself so you can judge it
Well, if noone else has any other recommendations, then I will try it out and see for myself. Maybe I'm getting old, but I miss the days of Star Conquest and Miriani before they both went down the drain...
Sc hasn't gone down the drain, still has it's fair share of players.
Well, I'll try Cosmic rage and see what I think. As long as there are good soundpacks for both, that's pretty good motivation for me... asuming the packs are up to date of course. lol
lol... then I'm not going to be playing it. Not with an average of 27 people online...
Okay, so...been reading this topic and dabbling in SC a bit now and then today.
So. Why do people suggest CR or Miriani? I tried Miriani and it just felt so unwelcoming and hostile to a new player. I can jump on SC and within a few moments of char creation, be talking away, get a mentor. Can I do that on Miriani? Nope. What about CR? Admittedly, I don't remember my throwaway CR account, now watch me remember it after writing this post, but.....
Miriani, I remember, used to have a decent player base, but this was upwards of 5 years ago when I actualy played regularly. What's the player population on SC nowadays? If I can find a decent sound pack I may go for that one instead... CR is definitely not sucking me in.
Fringe is fairly active and there's quite a few soundpacks out there. No idea how decent they are, but I'll try one
Well, if Star Conquest is still active, I may give that a go first. Just need to find a good sondpack and remember how to install soundpacks in vipmud...
Try that, it says it's approved by SC staff, and it's one of the first results. Now I need a MUSHClient one
Okay, that readme confuses me
@Assault: Okay, so I toss the sounds/Star Conquest folder in, then....do I create a Star Conquest folder in the /vipmud/ folder and put everything else in that?
Yes. Take the star conquest folder in the sounds pack of the pack's own directory, and paste it into your vipmud sounds folder. Then take everything else and paste it into the folder for the actual SC session.
So, did that....now....it errors when I type anything, parse errorwith a bad parsing error,, bad filename or number in command <account name>
No I'm not putting my actual account name there, but you get the point right? I hear the music for a moment, then.....
Odd. Make sure the diectory is vipmud\sounds\star conquest. Not sure why else it wouldn't be working... that's why I got the errors, I got the folder structure wrong the first time.
I'm a derp. I forgot to load and execute the script....duh.
Okay so who are you on there? You'd better be Fringe Else I'm going to not help you when the IFFS invade. Seriously, GTFO outta the sector when they turn up. Also, I'll give you some hints.
1. Join the Fringe. We're active and we got the biggest guns.
2. Do /everything/ the friendly guy at the start says.
3. Know when it's time to run away from a fight.
4 Don't be afraid to use the mentor system. And join in the apparently random discussions.
Slo. Who are you on there?
It's all relative. The alliances are pretty balanced. Fringe is pretty active now yes, and they do have a lot of guns. League is also very active, and they are probably the most balanced in terms of ship tech, and second best at exploration. AEU is the hardest to play because of roleplay history that is taking forever to resolve, and Mutuality... well, they are application only, and it always seems like everything really interesting that happens happens when they are heavily involved, so take that as you will, but essentially, League, Fringe, or AEU are the choices, and me personally, I would prefer League or Fringe.
Hehehe. I'm not a complete noob, I used to play a long time ago but thanks for the reminders of those fundamental things. I do remember those things. And yes, I am fringe. Let's just say my first name has to do with someone from the old testament in the Bible.
Do you still have to fill out an application/profile/some other useless thing to play star conquest?
It's not something you have to do at the beginning, but I know it's something you can do. I don't think it's mandatory anymore, however. And it's definitely not useless... lol. It's part of roleplay.
It is if you want to advance beyond cadet, which you definitely want to do.
