There is a visual novel about an AI, called Eliza. I do not know if it is playable, but it is fully voice acted. I'm wondering if there's a way that anyone can verify if it's playable, because it sounds quite interesting.

How much is it, and is there a demo?

The visual novel, which is simply titled "Eliza", is $14.99 USD, and no, there isn't a demo.

Doesn't steem have a refund policy?

2019-08-13 02:10:48 (edited by FamilyMario 2019-08-13 02:12:21)

Valve willissue a refund for any title that is requested within 14 days of purchase and has been played for less than 2 hours. This includes online, offline and shared library playtime. If the game you're trying to refund has exceeded 2 hours of playtime and/or you own it for more than 14 days without playing it, Valve will not refund your purchase.
I should also mention that the game is also available for purchase on HumbleBundle and GOG.

All you can do is either just eat the 14.99 and try it or see if watching some YouTube videos can show you whether you'd be interested in trying to pay it or not.  Shame it doesn't have a demo though.

Why not try and get a refund if you dont like.

Hi.
Sounds interesting. I can't find any information about the controls etc.

Best regards SLJ.

For anyone who is interested, here is a 20 minute playthrough of the game.
https://youtu.be/UMlM-R3_4bk

going in to the wilds, collecting pokedex, and capturing them are my kind of thing,
training them, making them evolve, and generally making them stronger is my ultimate goal,
fighting other manamon tamers, winning the tournament, and fighting octoros are what these manamons like to do,
and ultimately, I become the master of mana!

Hi,
from what I've seen so far in the playthrough, it seems like a point and click. That kind of game is particularly frustrating to me because it's typically the kind of game that could easily be made accessible, especially when the pointed features are allready textual, like precisely like in Eliza.
I'm not sure and I'm definitly waiting for any fidback you may have, but I guess a screenreader won't be enough to play...
I really hope I'm wrong.

Simon

@11, I think a screen reader is enough to read things like dialog choices, inventory, and others. also from the playthrough that I've sceen, the game uses a mouse to play, like in other point and click adventure games like broken age or back to the future where you have to use a cursor and click on it to interact, combine items with other items from an inventory, talk to people, ETC.

going in to the wilds, collecting pokedex, and capturing them are my kind of thing,
training them, making them evolve, and generally making them stronger is my ultimate goal,

So you think it'd be possible? Wait that's amazing. But how do you make sure you click on the right item. I mean, even assuming you screenreader reads all needed content, how do you know where to look with your mouse without moving it across the screen again and again, hoping you'll come across all the different elements?

Simon

Assuming it's one of those situations where the game is displaying plain text, but the screen reader can't interpret it as so, and thus can't read what's being displayed on the screen, your best bet is to OCR, but even that sometimes doesn't display accurate info.

Hi.
I got the game from other sources, only to check if the game is playable or not.
The game is totally inaccessible in all possible ways. No keyboard navigation at all. Not even OCR in NVDA detects anything at all. The only thing I was able to was to start the game and watch the intro scene. Nothing more than that.
So I uninstalled the game again and deleted it from my harddrive.
I'm glad I didn't bought it. However, if the game were somewhat playable, then I would have bought it from Steam and contacted the developer.
So, don't waist your money on buying the game, unless you wanna contact the developers about accessibility.

Best regards SLJ.
