Hi people. A few weeks aggo, i came up with this idea. Some people propably still remember the old klango3 client. I had the idea to make something like it, but not like elten, don't wanna klone that here. It is custom server, so anyone can put up his forum using it in secs. It would also have multi language support, what i can do is english and german. Other people are of course welcomed to help. Again, this is not to klone elten, this thing would be just a forum, pm and maybe livechat. This is also not an announcement, i just want to ccheck if you guys are interested. How you like the idea?
Nice idea for an experimental project, but poor in practice. You're basically reinventing the wheel. Anyway, what would be the forum about? Why would anybody necessarily need to have their own forum? Who's your target audience? After all I see it pointless.
The forum is about everything the user wants to do. It would be text forums and pm and if you want live chat, how ever i am not sure about that one cause classic forum softwares also don't offer that option. The audience are people that want to host a forum and get it installed in seconds without difficult php and so one. There will be also an official free forum hosting.
@3, this is as post 2 said an idea poor in practice. Your idea has already been consumed by many web-hosting providers.
no, not really. You don't get my point. I want to make a forum with a windows client, no mysql and that stuff needed just a machine able to start windows aplications, and the client can then be set to a special server.
Hmm if a developer with some positive reputation would have offered this, I could actually think about that idea. but given the fact that this is not the case ...
So, you're thinking something along the lines of the old Accessible Chat or Freedom Chat? Meh, I'd rather those programs stay dead and buried. I also agree with the last post. The audience who would be drawn to this thing would probably be less than welcoming, to put it mildly.
Well if you can do it, I say go ahead, but this is nothing new. I wouldn't be interested in using this myself.
What has been created in the laws of nature holds true in the laws of magic as well. Where there is light, there is darkness, and where there is life, there is also death.
