I'm asking you all who are adept at sound design.
I was playing sounds that I stripped from flack into ogg and converted them to mono from stereo and they began to stutter. Any reason as to why? How would I go about avoiding that effect?

If you did what I think you did, then there shouldn't be a problem.
By stripping from flac to ogg, do you simply mean you converted them from flac to ogg? What programs did you use?

What are you using to play the files? Does the stuttering happen only with those particular files, or does it also occur with other files? I know I'm asking the obvious, but 9 times out of 10, stuttering happens from a problem with the playback device, or by some other problem that isn't related ot the file itself. While decoders can and will produce stuttering with some files, it's not a terribly common thing. If you're sure the problem lies there, you should be looking into the file, the program that made the file, or the decoder you're using.

Without more details though, I can't give much real advice.

Make more of less, that way you won't make less of more!
