Hi. I am a relatively new user to jaws, and I have a slight problem. Everytime I press a key on the keyboard, jaws would anounce the key. Is there any way of turning it off?

Go to the options menu and choose Basics. In that dialog box, there should be controls to specify the global keyboard echo setting. Set that to nothing and press the okay button to save your changes.

Hi,
Open the JAWS startup wizard from the help submenu and navigate with tab until you find "typing eccho". Explore the possible options with up and down arrow, and select "off". Finish that startup wizard and then check how JAWS behaves while using it.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!

It's also available in the Startup Wizard dialog. I thought it would be in Basic as well. You can also press insert 2 to temporarily disable it, but I believe this is only applicable to the current session and gets reset when you restart it.
