Hello all. With this post, I do not mean to call out any particular game or dev. So please remember this if you decide to get out your flame throwers. but rather a very unhelpful trend that's been happening with pretty much all new releases as of late. What I'm meaning here is that most posts about new games don't include any game description.
Usually it just goes like this: A dev posts in the new releases room and says "Yo I just released my awesome new game, go here to download it *link goes here* please give me some feedback".
This is really not how you advertise your game in a way that actually gets people to play it, unless they're of the really curious nature. Hell, I'm not even too sure if this applies to many people, but in my experience, I tend to just skip over games with little or no information as to what it is and what you do, especially if the person it's released by is a new dev I've never heard of. The reason for this is because those more often than not turn out to be those rushed projects with lots of bugs that don't ever really grow out of the alpha or concept phase.
In short, people want to know about your game first before they click the link and invest their time. So give them something. An overview of the type and genre. Or if you're feeling lazy, just paste the readme in there under the download link, or even better record an audio demo for people to listen to and explain it there.
As I said above, this post isn't ment to highlight the faults of anyone in particular, just a slight heads-up and a bit of advice to any future devs. Advertise your product. Try to sell it to people as best as you can, don't just toss it out there and hope that word goes around.

I used to be a knee like you, then I took an adventurer in the arrow.

I'd really like to see the dev room be the place for what I'll call experimental projects, and finished projects IE ones that are stable and packaged up would be in New releases along with some explanatory text about what the game is, it's features, other interesting info.
Might be an interesting moderator discussion to have.
Thanks for bringing this up.

I would say that you are one of the many who did it. It's become a chronic issue on this forum.
