Hi all. I've been playing some of the Kitchen's Inc Games and I think the games are great! What do you think of his games?
i think that games like wincasino, and winpoli are alright,
however i think that games like winmuel and wintruck are a little borring
The Kitchens Inc games are to us blind people what the minesweeper and solitaire games in Windows are to sighted users a lot of the time. Winpoly isn't bad, but isn't quite as good as the real thing. You have to admit Winspank's a laugh for a short while too, if you're bored.
First of all Jim is an outstanding member of the AG community. He's has been around a long time and has never charged a dime for his games. A lot of his games are good for beginner computer users and especially blind kids. I think he has a fetish for the Simpsons, but I can't eve hold that against him. I also don't know very many games you can play with more than one person in the room. Most games are 1 player or maybe some online player stuff. When I have some people over yatzee, monopoly, life, even baseball are a blast!
Just my 2 cents worth

There's definitely room for his games out there. There's a lot that could be done at the heavier end of the gaming spectrum, but you should never underestimate the lighter end. Without a lighter and a heavier end to the spectrum, and maybe things in the middle, you don't have the variety of depth.
The last post was very true in all accounts.
At times I find myself enjoying his games more than a lot of the other free offerings out there despite their infirior sound quality. In the end sound quality doesn't matter nearly as much as playability and fun. (In fact I like the low sound quality in his games, it makes the game mor authentic somehow -- it would seem kind of corny to have something like a guess the number game with cd quality sounds <ahem>)
ahum ahum ,meaning num crunch?
Personally, I rather like Kitchensink games for several reasons.
As has been said, the multiplayer stuf is good fun, and saves you the problem of storing braille board games (the braille monopoly is huge! and I only have a student bedroom here). But playing such things with friends is always amusing. I personally wish we could do a bit of monkeying around with the rules of Win Poly, like having the never buy on the first time round rule, and also having a different currencey for each board (dollars in London, Star wars or Middle earth just seem wrong to me), but I can't say this really stops my enjoyment of the games.
I haven't played the baseball game, sinse I no absolutely nothing about baseball, and some of the strategy things like Win Mule and Win truck get a bit slow after a while, but in general I like them.
One of my particular favourite things about the kitchensink stuff is that it takes so litle time to download and set up, no offence to fans of Num Crunch, but I just wouldn't want to spend that amount of time downloading, or space storing, fairly simplistic games, but with the Kitchensink stuff they're deffinately worth having, even if I only play things like Hang man for the odd 10 minutes occasionally.
Hi all. I was wondering if anyone has been creating some board configurations for WinPoly. If you created some, please put them up on audiogames.net. Thanks.
Couple of questions.
1. When you click the URL given on AudioGames.net's list for Kitchen's Inc., it gives a 404 error...what do I do?
2. Is there some other way to download/play such games?
3. What's this about NumCrunch? Who? Where? I'm curious, but if it's just a 17-meg number game I don't see the hype.
Couple of answers:
1: Go to http://kitchensinc.blindprodigy.net/to find the games, I'm not sure if this is the same Url as the one on Audiogames.net, but it's the one that I've got and it works.
2: Download the Winkit set up file from the windows games page on the site, which will install the main menue and winlife game, then just download the files for any games you want and unzip them in the kitchensink folder, this goes for any extra board config files for win poly, or trivia questions files too. All of the files are extremely small, even the main set up file.
3: from what I can gather from places like Pcs games, it does seem to me that numb crunch is a 17 meg guess the number game, with Cd quality audio sound effects, but I haven't downloaded or played it so I could well be wrong.
Hope this helps.
Yes it is rather large but for some unkown reason I had to download it. It is also lightek's first program. Hurray! Another company has joined the ranks. Keep up the good work everyone. Lightek if you're still on here shoot me an amail.

Hi guys. If you would have any board configurations for Jimm's Monopoly, what would you like? I might make a board for Monopoly.
I personally like Jim's games. Of course I couldn't play the ones that require Text to Speach because even on my own PC with its 320 meg of memory it didn't work properly. But I like the car racing and golf games. I really like the fact that Jim uses Homer Simpson in those games. There's just something about crashing that car and hearing Homer scream...Oh, and let's not forget the Pong one.
hmm, what about a star wars monopoly board? Okay, okay, i'll shut up, but it is not my fault that i am a star wars fan
Best regards,
Robjoy (The true jedi)
p.s.: one day i will gather these things which i wrote after my name, and i will laugh a lot i guess
Don't feel bad about being a Starwars fan! I'm one too! There already is a starwars monopoly, but it's only based on the first ---- or do I mean fourth? film, so there's stil room for an expanded one.
How do you right config files? if it's not too time consuming or difficult I might have a bash myself, I'm certain I could turn out a silmarilion themed one, or how about The simpsons? Or a great philosopher's board?
If it's not too hard, I might even put together a Sryth board, for all the players of Sryth (smile).
On a similar note, how do you right trivia quiz files? I might be able to put a couple of those together as well, provided you don't need to be a programming geneus.
Hi.
If you have an item in the Kitchen's Inc Games menu called Reader, press enter on it and press the downarrow until you hear something called Monopoly. When you press enter on it, you will hear the instructions for making a board configuration for Monopoly. Hope this helps.
