I've worked with that developer on another pet game she has purchased the rights to. If you keep at her she'll probably do something about it. She most certainly did in Animal Acres. It too still has some problems but it is far better than it was when I first got with her.

2019-02-16 11:54:38

She recommends us to get sighted assistance? Just, what? She clearly don't understand the point of accessibility at all. I won't touch this game, unless she change her opinion regarding to accessibility.
We could send her a letter in Braille, and ask her to find a blind person to read the letter out loud for her. big_smile

Best regards SLJ.
Feel free to contact me privately if you have something in mind. If you do so, then please send me a mail instead of using the private message on the forum, since I don't check those very often.

Lolz I wouldn't get this upset about it, personally. Not exactly the greatest thing to say, but no need to lose our minds about it, either.

Silly Gohan, animals don't eat people. People eat animals.

I'd say also maybe try putting some input into the forums. I'm one of the only vi people on another pet game, but when I mentioned some of the accessibility problems, the entire community got behind me. Basically saying "Yeah, this community ought to do that for the visually impaired." A lot of stuff hasn't happened yet on that game but a big thing was changed almost immediately that made handling items easier. Other stuff hasn't happened yet, but sometimes we aren't working alone in things like this and the members of the community are eager to back us up, so try the forums and put a thread up too. Make the discussion public.

It is very possible to allocate elemental points using NVDA.

Go to the column you want to allocate, for example, electric attack. Press NVDA plus numpad slash. Press NVDA plus numpad 6. NVDA will not say anything, but you are now on the plus marker. Press NVDA plus numpad slash to move the mouse to this location, then click with numpad slash to allocate a point.

@David  still no luck over here I'm afraid. I tried all the NvdA mouse shortcuts and they do no good at all, I also tried in both Chrome and NvdA as well.

@Bookrage, the only problem with the forums is they have that stupid application thing which opens a rich text editer so once the message is written I didn't find a way to actually post it, one reason why I sent the dev a pm in the game itself.

@slj, yes, "get sighted assistance" is a bloody stupid thing to say, but I'm willing to give the bennifit of the doubt for someone who likely hasn't interacted with a blind person very much before.

If there isn't any news about this by march I will be withdrawing my cash from the kickstarter project, since I don't want to financially support any  developer who isn't interested in accessibility, but as I said, development takes time and trouble especially for a new developer, and it isn't as if she said that she didn't want blind people playing the game, refused to answer or still worse, stated that it wouldn't be worth her time working on the game's accessibility, all of which I've heard from developers in the past.

Well, I can say that I am totally blind and have allocated elemental points using NVDA and Chrome. I have done it 3 times now. Though I personally have already withdrawn from the game because I'm not normally a fan of monster collection games and this one has very little in the way of progression.
Would it help at all to have a recording of how I do it?

2019-02-18 04:12:45

Anyone know why the music isn't playing? The sound effects are but no music. I've put the slider to 100% but still no luck.

This reminds me of the classic Neopets game before Neopets became inaccessible. It's fun as a spontaneous entertainer but it's just a pokemon clone really.

I do like how things happen while you're offline though. Pretty cool to come back and see what your pet has been up to. smile And the interest the bank gives you isn't too shabby.

2019-02-18 16:25:02

What browser are you using? I noticed that the music and sounds don't play using safari on iOS.

2019-02-18 17:18:53

Here is a recording that proves that elemental points can be allocated using NVDA and Chrome. If you follow the steps in my guide exactly, this works. Remember, I have no sight at all so I'm not using my mouse to move anywhere or click anything on the screen.

I will also be posting this in a topic in general game discussion, since people seem to have stopped checking this topic as much on the grounds of the inaccessibility claim.

Hello. I like this game, sadly I didn't find the way how to buy item and such, I tried to NVDA+m on the item I want to buy and left click it, but it didn't work for me. any tips?

good day
togira
sorry for my bad english

also, I'm surprised at the "sighted assistance thing" because I've been playing and interacting with the woman that runs animal acres (she also runs that as well as Elyo) and sh was pretty good about it. That is quite disappointing and very surprising.

i want play this but how sign up? can't get it to recognize my birthday? can it be played on IOS or just on a windows or mac computer? is the story in-depth, is it like manamon, but mainstream?

2019-02-21 02:05:31

You can play on iOS but allocating elemental points is harder. It's difficult to get VO to click the allocate button.

There is no real story. You just catch eliyons, feed and play with them, battle with them and that's it. I don't know if some kind of goal system is planned or not. Probably depends on the success of the kickstarter campaign, which will likely fail since it ends March 7th and only has 830 dollars pledged out of 14000.

Hrm, one thing I can't seem to find the option for is swapping group order, for the situation I want to train up a creature that I recently obtained.  The only thing I see on the group window that might suggest swapping is sort order, but that only has the number 100 in it.

Also, I think the goal system thing is tied to that kickstarter campaign if I read something on the website right.  Most of the story progression stuff is currently in a closed test period while that goes on me thinks.

...Doh, just noticed the rearrange button all the way to the right.

The answer to your question is forum.audiogames.net/search

This alocation still isn't working, I've tried all the mouse amulation keys in Nvda as well as usign numbpad 6.

I'll drop the developer another pm to see if there is a fix forthcoming, since really its a stupid problem and should be an easy fix.

2019-02-24 07:02:20

I could alocate just fine, following David's guide

2019-02-26 19:43:54

Well this is still not working. The developer did drop me a message a few days ago saying that a fix is in the works, but nothing as yet.

i have no idea why, if mouse emulation with NVdA is what is needed it isn't working for me, then again I get the strong impression NVdA isn't good with mouse emulation, as I've recently had problems with mouseovers in other games.

Dark, can you please describe which steps you are using to try to allocate elemental points? Perhaps I can help.

2019-02-26 23:43:02

As I said in the Kittens game topic, I was having a similar mouse directing issue there since numbpad slash just wasn't working for me.

I reset NvdA to default settings and the Kittens game mouseovers are now fine, so I'll give this another try.

I looked at this one, and I was really impressed with the options for creating your first creature. The choices for colorings and markings were very descriptive, and I haven't found that in other games.
I hope the inaccessible bits get fixed quickly, because this looks so interesting!
