Xbox are seeking people with low vision or blindness to give feedback on an Xbox feature that may improve their gaming experience.

You'll be paid for your time, they want to hear from people who own an xbox and a smartphone, have an xbox live account, and rely on a screenreader. To take part you need to do two things:

1. Register your details with them using the form linked to from the website below
2. Email the person listed at the end of the website below to say you're interested in this specific study

https://accessibilityuserresearchcollec … xboxassist

It is USA unfortunately, but it might be worth getting in touch with the email address listed to request that future studies aren't restricted in that way..

can i get a peace double harmony burger? no chaos

if I had an xbox live account I would for sure participate in this. But unfortunately I haven't got one so that counts me out which is a shame. This xbox assist sounds remarkable. Too bad I don't know what it actually does. Do they give you any information about it? I'll look it up myself here on youtube and see what I can't figure out.

The age is the kicker. 4 more months... and I could do it.

Don't bother applying if you are outside of the United States. I just received an email from them saying the study is only open to those in the states. It's too bad. I was really hoping to get involved.

@Smoothgunner, Free xbox live accounts are counted in. The name is a bit misleading now. Xbox gold is what you subscribe to for online play. Xbox live account is, basically, your Microsoft account.

I filled out the form and emailed Nicole, its been a couple days, still waiting for a response

can i get a peace double harmony burger? no chaos

Hi.
Yeah, I got a reply from Nicole as well, saying that it's only people from the US who can join, which is a huge shame. So us outside the US got excited too early. It's just the US, as usual...So, I'll just return to the other projects I'm working on. Products which are for everyone, no matter what country they are from... smile

Please mail her to explain why you think USA only is a bad idea, and ask specifically why it is USA only. Of you don't  how else will change happen?

Hello there everyone, karate25 here with a quick question just to clarify and for my own information. The xbox live account is basically your free microsoft account that you set up when you first start up your xbox system. And then the xbox gold yearly subscription that's payed is what you would need to play games online with your friends Etc? I'm asking so I can learn how to use modern consoles since my knowledge of video games only goes back to the nintendo gamecube and the playstation 2. Beyond these, everything has been so computerized and inaccessible up to this point, I'm having to relarn all of this stuff I knew before but I'm not complaining since I think it's a wonderful problem to have if you can really call it a problem. Your clarification on this will help me very much and if it's the case that the xbox live account is the free account that you have with Microsoft, and the only other item you need is an iPhone, then I should be all set then and will actually be able to participate in this study. Have a wonderful day to you all.

I have already done that, and here is the reply:
Start of text:
You're welcome and I understand what you are saying. This is how our contract is written...to include only individuals residing in the US. I will mention to my team that the website does not make that specific information clear and have them make the necessary edits. Thank you for sharing.

Most likely the reason for the restriction has to do with the details and requirements of the GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation, a European Union law on data protection and privacy for individuals within the European Union.
End of text.
I have send a reply explaining how they can get around the GDPR, so we might be able to join the tests in the future.

Best regards SLJ.

Hi @karate25.
Yes, an Xbox Live account is free and does only need a free Microsoft account. The Microsoft Gold subscription is not free.
You can only join the test if you are from the US.

again how lame. they don't like the EU data protection laws. lol they can't snoop so they won't let anybody else test. that is certainly what it sounds like to me.

Yeah. Or maybe that's simply not included in their contract, or they didn't know how to deal with it before I told them. I don't know. But I hope they'll include it in their contact in the future. That is, if they need more testers. But maybe they have enough testers from the US already, I don't know. If they have, then it's just cool. big_smile
