Can you skip the player transformation?

Most of that kind of content can be avoided if you are careful.  But something a lot of people do is they will pledge for the Cheat menu and they will use that to drop their transformation stats well into the negative numbers (Taint and Mutation) so that they can do whatever they want without risk of progressing into those stats' related transformations.

Hope that proves helpful to you.

"The Allure of Wanton Cove is a dark tale of horror set within the Cthulhu Mythos created by the renowned author H.P. Lovecraft.

You take on the part of a washed up former detective who could never let go of the last terrible case he worked.  Content to live the rest of his life at the bottom of a bottle, his former partner comes knocking, begging for his help.  Help that he is loath to give until offered a tantalizing clue that could finally unravel the case that plagues his every waking thought.  He accepts, having no idea that the truth he will find is infinitely more terrible than what already haunts him."

\

This game features the following:
-Fully customizable character, and how you build him can have significant implications on the game as a whole.
-Playing different styles of characters is rewarded through unlocking different content as you play, meaning that no two playthroughs will ever be quite the same.
-Discover clues that you can follow as you explore side stories that often shed additional insights into the world you find yourself in.
-Explore a corruption ravaged island, experiencing hundreds of scenes, many of which evolve as you learn more about the island.
-Every character has a story.  Talk to the people, learn about them, unravel their secrets.
-Not one, but TWO slow transformation mechanics that can over time can completely change your character.
-A system for tracking madness.  The terrible things you see will fray your sanity, driving you mad bit by bit.
-A fully implemented combat system with several enemy types, and enemies who will sometimes behave differently each time you encounter them.
-Eighteen different endings to the game to find.
-More than 50 images that range from the erotic to the macabre.
-More than 460,000 words of content, making it a substantial sized project that will likely take you hours to play through.

\

Changelog 1.14
-Wrote a DP scene for the prostitution function.  Even managed to work a line into the scene that was a nod to one of my favorite games.  wink
-Wrote a slightly degrading scene for the prostitution function.
-Wrote a new blowjob scene for the prostitution function.
-Wrote a titjob scene for the prostitution function.
-Includes the usual assortment of bug fixes, spelling/grammar fixes, and all that fun stuff.
-Updated "Special Thanks" area with Patrons who pledged at the $10 and up levels.  12/02/18
-Added about 8k words of content to the game bringing the game's total size up to about 468k words of content.

Player Reviews:

"You know, I have played some truly horrific and/or gory video games during my years. Games like:
• Parasite Eve
• Resident Evil
• Silent Hill (All of them up to “The Room”
..and yet none of them have creeped me the fuck out like Wanton Cove. You are that much of a badass when it comes to descriptive writing. Never add sounds to that game. I am too old to be pissing myself."

"The slow burn of the transformation is very torturous, but its creeping presence gives the game a real sense of dread... or eroticism if you're into that. What has been released has been a spectacular Detective Adventure that does well to put you into the story. The atmosphere has been very dark and foreboding. I find myself wanting to know more about the world and there's enough grit here to make it without the transformation aspect.

Because, let's be honest, who didn't keep going back to your room with that woman?

Fun Tip: Play some music from a dark horror game. I personally used Silent Hill for this. It adds to the experience.

Came for the Smut, stayed for the Story. Probably one of the better compliments I could pay."

"I feel that most games on this site can be broadly put into two categories. Porn with game elements, and games with porn elements. I would say this fits into the latter category. The writing in general, the setting, and the atmosphere of the game are excellent. It feels very Lovecraftian. Seriously, this game is creepy from the get go, and the tension that it creates really works. The random scenes generally help keep the tension high, and atmosphere thick. The character work could be a bit better. To be clear, some characters get a lot of love, but others feel like little more a click through dialouge to gather clues. It's that contrast that makes me even write this criticism.

On to the TF. There seems to be one central TF in the game, and it is painfully slow... in a very good way. You could railroad your way through it if you really want to, but I get the feeling that once there is a path to a more satisfactory ending it is the kind of thing that will happen over time, and you will struggle against it if you want to enjoy the content. This seems fitting, as characters tend to lose their minds in Lovecraftian fiction, while here we have our main character losing their body and mind. The descriptions of the TF as they occur range from good to great. Unfortunately, if you want to be reminded of what you look like, the "you" link displays a pretty bare bones description of your current form. It's not a deal breaker, and I know it is a pain to write a bit of code to reflect those dynamic changes in a somewhat more literary format, but it is a feature I look for in TF games."

Massive spoiler alert!
I have found the cave/cathedral, but when browsing the wanton verse wiki http://wantonverse.wikia.com/wiki/The_A … anton_Cove
I found that on the seventh day there should be a ritual going on. However, I cannot trigger it. Are there some things I have to do beforehand?
Also, in the endgame article, I saw that the scene is affected by whether you have met and confronted the pastor. Does it have to do something with the ritual and if no, can someone give me any hints.
End spoilers.

End spoilers.

Cracked open the game file and took a look at the code to make sure I had all the conditions right.

The conditions are:
-Accessed the Cathedral in the past.
-Day 7
-Have met Vick.

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot for responding so quickly!
Strange ... it seems I have met all the conditions.
possible spoiler alert.
Does it happen when ever I visit the cave on the seventh day or is there a certain chance and I have to try it multiple times.
And just in case, is the cave and the cathedral the same thing? There is an altar there. I'm starting to have a suspicion, that they are not.
The part of the description reads:
A looming darkness at the back of the cavern appears to be where the cave system continues.

Finally, my flashlight falls on the raised area in the middle of the room. The stone is round, and flat on the top, perhaps eight feet across at any point. I can see wax and half burnt candles placed all around the dark crimson center. Even a cursory inspection reveals that some of the candles look old while others look almost new. This place has been used recently. And the dark red at the center of the stone ranges from a rich red color all the way to the brownish red of old dried blood.

Taking my time, I walk through the cavern, looking in nooks and crannies in the hopes of finding something useful. With the exception of bits and pieces of old bone, I see little else of interest.

Follow the cave out to the Bluff.

Exit the cave.

Or are there any abilities I need to be aware of. My perception is 13. And I also tried it with investigation at 13.
end spoiler.

Before I get to my usual preamble, I wanted to say a few words.

The Allure of Wanton Cove has been a labor of love for about four years now, and while it began with humble beginnings, it quickly took on a life of it's own.  Even once we reached version 1.0 and the game was complete, all of you asked for more, and because of that I continued to pour my heart into the game through another fifteen builds.

It has been an amazing journey, and a creator could not dream of having a better group of fans.  Every build sees more than 10,000 downloads just through our Patreon page, and I've seen the game pop up on many other sites around the Internet that I suspect increases that number significantly.  It's surreal to be part of something that so many people have loved these past few years.

Unfortunately, all things eventually end, and this is no exception.

But with endings, there also come new beginnings, . . .

While we won't be starting them immediately, we do already have plans to return to the setting to tell other tales, to see the world of Wanton Cove through new eyes, . . .

Be sure to follow our Patreon page to stay up to date on what we have in the works and what is coming!

Changelog 1.15
*Added one new branching event to the trail.  This one introduces a new horror to the island.
*Added the "Strange Plant" to the case notes for reference.
*One new prostitution scene added to the game.
*One new ending added to the game associated with the prostitution.
*Includes the usual assortment of bug fixes, spelling/grammar fixes, and all that fun stuff.
*Changelogs have been changed.  We have blind players who play the game using a text reader and their text readers do not read dashes properly all the time, but WILL read asterisks.  Short of this somehow breaking the game for other players, all future changelogs in all of our games will use asterisks instead of the dashes that have been used up to this point.
*It has been reported that sometimes Mr Morichi acts like you haven't met Azumi during the ending when you in fact have.  I spent a couple of hours trying to find the source of this bug but was unable to locate it.  In the end, I made some adjustments that will hopefully resolve the issue.
*Updated "Special Thanks" area with Patrons who pledged at the $10 and up levels.  1/8/19
*Added about 9k words of content to the game bringing the game's total size up to about 477k words of content.

It's certainly been an interesting ride, thanks! Hopefully the ... sequel? ... is at least as interesting as this has been. Good luck on the next chapter of develpment. smile

Got a lot of interesting stuff going on.  Eventually, I hope to make three games in the Wanton Cove series, with this one being the middle tale.  The next game in the series will not tie you so tightly to the town and be more about the setting, and how Tom ended up in Wanton Cove in the first place.  I recently started a game called Last Stand of Ra that's intended to be a somewhat small game, odds are pretty good that once that is complete, I'll be looking at doing another game within the Cthulhu mythos.

That's definitely interesting. Enjoyed your game a lot man. Keep up the great job!
