I personally have gotten squished more than a few times from Santa. The trick is to move diagonally, as Santa doesn't like that. Elves don't either. I'm at a point now where, as long as I'm careful and am not trying to get the last key with Santa hot on my heels, I just...don't die anymore. I can routinely get over 1800 points, but my top score on the Canadian scoreboard - which has since been eclipsed, so congrats to whoever did that - wasn't pure dumb luck either. The next thing I'm shooting for is 60 toys. I've gotten 55 before, but that's my best I think.

Yeah, I'm starting to get it. 3 rounds escaping Santa with all keys, but the next one, squish !

I usualy speak french, so please excuse all my english mistakes. Thanks!

Wow, this game is really fun. Just eclipsed everyone on the leaderboards with 2303 or 2302 points, so yeah, bring it on. Escaped in 31 seconds.

Hahahaha this is very fun!
You’ve escaped from Santa’s workshop with an absolutely astronomical mountain of just about every toy imaginable. Seriously. Every toy you could imagine is in here. Even ones you can’t imagine. They’re all here.
Good job on getting the fat guy to blow himself up. You’ve done a good deed and now the children of the world no longer have to fear at night.
You collected 60 toys. Including bonuses, your toy score is 1355 points.
For making it out alive plus causing santa to blow up his own workshop, have 750 points. You earned it!
You escaped from Evil Santa in 27 seconds. That’s good for 330 points.
Your final score is 2435 points.

Cristian.

holy smokes you are lucky if you can escape the speedy santa unless going diagonal is key

Hi.
Nice work, downloading it now.
Regional score boards? So that's virtually no competition in Germany? Or are the boards continental?

Greetings Moritz.

Hail the unholy church of Satan, go share it's greatness.

The scoreboards are kind of a mishmash. I believe they are, in no particular order: Canada, United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Eastern Europe, Mexico, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Asia, Australia, Africa, the Middle East. I am probably missing one or two.

Also, I have no idea how you folks get that many points. I topped out at just above 2100 on my best try so far.
On the plus side, I have like 53 achievements now. If the rest are just related to playing more (as in, no further achievements for getting bonked, squished or exploded), then I may give this a rest for a bit. I would love to see a game mode where an elf popped onto the board every, say, twenty seconds, and your goal was to pick up all the toys (no time limit). You would then be scored on how fast you did it, plus the toy bonuses and all. But I totally recognize that this is just me doing what I always do. I am not dissatisfied with the game, not at all. First, it's free. Second, it's rather addictive. Third, it's fun, damn it. I'm just always wondering how to improve good things I suppose. lol

I'm not really good at the game. I can only get like 40 toys. smile

@Liam - Very adicting game. Just several observations if that's ok:

1. As you've done with not being able to change the region from within Options, would you also be extend this to the player's name? This should hopefully minimise the possibility of players potentially copying their game config, distributing it around, and then allowing other players to simply change their name and get to the top of the scoreboards

2. If you do decide to include the C++ Redist with your installer, would it be possible to make this an optional install? I'm not a huge fan of installers that make changes without prompting/making changes optional!

3. In theory, would it be possible to create a new global scoreboard combining the scores from all of the regionals?

Thanks - keep up the good work.

Hello.

It's a pitty, the game is not for linux, only for Windows and Mac. I haven't got any Windows machine and I don't want it, linux is more comfortable for me. Mac isn't wrong, but it's really expensive. In my oppinion, Macs are computers for millionaires.

I'm not a programmer, but I think, if the game is for Mac, recompilling it for Ubuntu won't be problem.

Thanks.

Best regards

Vojta.

My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my space bar. Prepare to die!

I don't know what exactly the space bar does but Liam's status should be giving us a hint about this. My guess is that Inigo Montaya, the toy collector, has been emasculated by santa in the past and that's why he wants to kill him. Yeah, Santa will die somehow! lol

You've just unlocked the Inigo Montoya achievement. You keep pressing that button. I don't think it does what you think it does. Press enter to continue
i know exactly how to unlock it, but i won't tell ya, lol, it's fun though, have fun trying
the hint is in the line of the achievement.

61:
1. I wouldn't recommend passing around data files. The leaderboards know who is who. Kinda like Evil Santa knowing who is naughty and who is nice.
2. It's a very silent and quick install. It also does not make any changes other than adding runtimes that you'll eventually need if you don't already have them. I will take a look at if I can make this optional, but I don't want to set the update release back even further.
3. Global leaderboards are on my roadmap for sure.

62: While I would like to support Linux, some work needs to be done on the engine to make this happen. If it's possible then I will try to make it happen, but unfortunately Linux is just not a very high priority righ tnow. I apologize.

63: Inigo is actually a spaniard who wants to avenge the death of his father. Not sure if he had a run in with Santa or not. I do feel like with his fencing skills he would have done fine though.

That is one achievement I have, actually. lol

One thing I've noticed. I'd like to see the bonus for evading the death sleigh be boosted a little bit. Honestly, depending on  your luck, it's almost more profitable to find one key and then book it for an exit, as in universally more profitable. Yet it's easier by far, since Santa is much slower. Were it me, I might boost it from 750 to 1000 points and call it good. Even 900 points would probably do the trick and make it generally more worth your while to try it the hard way.

I would agree with boosting the death sled points values. A reasonably quick one key escape is almost always more beneficial. I think a more interesting way of solving this would be to reset the 600-point time bonus but have it decrease by 60 points or whatever is appropriate based on how long it takes you to escape once the death sled is triggered. This would then be awarded in addition to the 750 points and the time since Santa appeared would be ignored.

2018-12-24 02:02:27

Haha fun game! There's some amusing achievements for sure, especially when you try to sneak references in. Are you sure you wouldn't rather be off playing Cheetahmen? tongue

I don't think I've gotten that one yet, or if I have, I don't remember it. lol
Honestly though, if it's left completely as is, that's cool too. I don't mind. I just figure that the death sleigh should be rewarding if you actually survive, since it can be bloody tricky to set up and is very much an all-or-nothing gamble.

Exactly. You just hit the nail on the head. it's an all over nothing gamble. When I was coming up with the idea, the concept of shooting the moon in Hearts stuck with me. I love that risk Vs. Reward concept.

Hi Liam,
do I need to reset my stats to get more achievements? I mean, if I passed one new achievement I will need to clear my stats to get it?

Cristian.

2018-12-24 05:39:52

So as an all-or-nothing I feel the bonus should be a bit bigger. That's my point, Liam. lol

This game is incredible!
Arguably, you should get more points for lasting longer given that Santa becomes crazier and crazier the longer you evade him. hahaha
I was thinking how awesome it would be to see a Christmas themed Super deekout!

I'm probably gonna get banned for this, but...

Thank you for the cool update! I've had quite a lot of fun with the game so far. I currently have 26 Achievements. I'm sure I'll get them all eventually! smile
Do you think it would be possible to change the way the scores work,, so that each person can only post one score, and when they post a higher one, their lower one is deleted? Currently, one person could theoretically hold all 10 positions on the scoreboard buy posting 10 scores, each just slightly better than the previous one. Theoretically, of course, in practice that'd be too much effort. But I think such a change would make top scores much more meaningful.
Pressing enter on anything in the statistics screen gives me an error. But tbf, I'm not supposed to do that anyhow, so that hardly matters.
This's the error: Fatal error detected. Failed to execute script tgtr.

Yes, I definitely left the forum. Mhm. Why would you have any doubt?
