Hi guys. Some of you may already know about this, but I thought I would share it anyway. I won’t go into a lot of detail, but basically, this is a singing speech synthesiser that doesn’t sound bad. Yes, most of the songs are in Japanese, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy them. I will post a few links below.  This is the first proper song I ever heard. World is mine.
https://youtu.be/teJpfwCUfPQ
Next, a comparison between the synthesiser and a real human voice.

I will leave you to discover the rest on your own. Thanks.

Hopefully, we'll get a fully accessible open world game someday.

Ah. I remember listening to an English cover of that one. While I do not get too many opportunities to listen to the vocaloids themselves, because of most of the songs being in Japanese, I've enjoyed the English covers of those songs. My personal favorite are the songs from the story of evil. Anyways, I hope it's not too off topic to include a bit on the rest of the Vocaloid lineup. While it seems that Hatsune Miku is one of the most popular, they all are decent quality.
(edit) *sees second post* Gosh dang it, I don't have the time to listen to Senbonzakura 1,000 times. As much as I really want to. It's a good song.

I have a website now.

Finally! Someone who actually likes that song! I personally prefer miku over the other characters. Her English synthesiser isn’t very good. Just my personal opinion, of course.  Listen to this song don’t come back here, that was developed using the English synthesiser.

Hopefully, we'll get a fully accessible open world game someday.

No, that's fair. The synthesizer was designed for japanese and such, so I can understand it not being as good. English is just weird to work with in general. LOL!!!

There is the exception. Gumi sounds quite great. Just going to listen to the cover of the song I mentioned in post  I will post a link anyway.

Thanks alot, you explained what I did not ask in the first place.
smile I was always asking myself if that girl from Vocaloid pack is a real person, or a sinth.
Btw, I love her voice and one of her songs was on our kid radio for many years, do not remember the name, one of the examples in that video with real person vs vocaloid.
smile I will dig more into this now.

Glad you enjoyed it. Does anyone think they could use the program to write a song about the audio games.net forum? That would be absolutely hilarious, LOL!

And this one with hatsune miku. I kind of like the live version better but this one is cool too.

This one is by SONiKA who is pretty rare, hard to understand for me but still quite catchy.

As regards vocaliser voices, i think you’ll find they’re all, infact, based off real human voices. Pretty clever how they do it.

Hi.

Finally, somebody else who's into Vocaloids!
Me, personally, I actually have another friend (who is totally blind) get into the Vocaloids themselves too, both in the software and fandom aspects themselves, but that sort of applied to voice synths in general. She used to be a part of a forum called Vocaloid Otaku, before it unfortunately got shut down, which was to be expected, what with places like Amino and Discord being popular.
As for songs, let's see here.
There's this one, Lorem Ipsum, by famous video game composer Jake Kaufman, better known as Virt, because you can't go wrong with Virt. One of the few tracks he is known to use Vocaloid itself. It appeared on his compilation album Choice Nuggets.

Another one, one that started it all for me as a person back when I first watched it back when it first came out.

Defender, I see that you have listened to glass wall. I find that song pretty sad.

Hi.
@robomastr42 we're not talking about Vocalizer, we're talking about Vocaloid. Two totally different things.

There's always
This one... first few seconds especially blew my mind the first time I heard it
or
featuring Rin and Len
and finally, this songwas featured in the Beatstar vocaloid pack, but here's the full thing, and a more realistic sounding Vocaloid song I have not heard. But granted, I'm also not a native Japanese speaker, or... much of one at all, so who knows, maybe it actually sounds terrible. lol

Hi. Thanks for posting these. This is actually the first time I’ve ever heard a mail vocaloid. Do you know if the actual software is accessible? I would like to try use it, but I don’t know if it’s worth my time.

Yeah voca circus and crusher P on youtube are probably the best channels for this kind of stuff. Least so far as I've found.
oh and, this creepy shit.

Here's Cyber Diva too, I haven't seen her mentioned yet, interesting voice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJfL_GNREWk
Honestly though I feel like as soon as vocaloids get to be as good as humans, they wont' be nearly as interesting any more.
For certain more specific applications though, maybe.

2018-11-26 22:12:01

Defender, that’s a good point. I don’t think they will be as interesting. Also, are you starting to notice a pattern? The English voices I’m not good at all. I’m referring to the quality of the voice. They aren’t able to pronounce words properly.

Hopefully, we'll get a fully accessible open world game someday.

2018-11-26 23:05:10

I think part of that is just because English as a language is much weirder in terms of pronunciation than say, Japanese. In Japanese, there is one set of rules for pronouncing things, and 98 percent of the time as far as I know, if we're talking strictly about romaji, the way you write it is the way you say it, no exceptions. English, on the other hand... how many different basic phonemes are there? lol

Hi.
The main factor here is because of the English recording scripts used for English Vocaloids.
According to the developer's notes, in regards to CYBER DIVA, the VOCALOID engine itself uses a combination of both British and American phonetic sounds. The result is that sometimes certain sounds may sound off because that particular combination would not typically be used together by either a British or American accented speaker.
It's important to note that, before VOCALOID4's release, the English recording script was confirmed to have errors. As a result, V3 vocals like YOHIOloid have bad pronunciation. Due to their differences, the majority of the pre-VOCALOID4 Vocaloids will not produce the same results as post-VOCALOID4 because of the issues with this script alone. It wasn't until Cyber Diva's release that most of these errors were fixed, at the cost of expressiveness in some areas.
Ruby, Dex, and Daina use a different script, which mainly focuses on the American accent. Of note is that the improved script used for Cyber Diva wasn't shared at the time of Ruby's development.
