I'm wondering if their are any programs that convert mp3 or wav to midi. I've been searching for a free one but they all cost money. I need one because I want to edit existing audio files using the music producing softwear I have called Sonar. When I import the files as mp3 they stay audio files and there is no way of editing them that way. I've tried recording them into midi tracks but that doesn't work so from what I can tell my only other option is converting them dirrectly into midi. So does anyone know if I can get around this or if there is a free mp3 to midi converter out there? (sorry for the long post).

MP3 to midi sounds difficult, since midi is much less detailed than MP3.
