This is a very common error.
Simply run the (checkup.exe) file found in the Swamp folder and it will be fixed.
i had a similar problem, even after running the checkup.exe file. any suggestions?
i've redownloaded like 10 times.
the really weird thing is that it's worked on this laptop before. could anyone maybe put it on dropbox and give us a link, you could take it down afterword.
of course, make sure the copy works. hahaha. although, thingking about it, swamp would take a hel of a long time uploading. loooool
Hi Remi.
when you get Swamp to work, then feel free to share your character name in the game. We are a lot of players from Denmark in the game, and we have a danish chat as well which you might enjoy.
i think folder name is too long. just copy the game to c:\swamp and it'll be fixed. if it didn't, install needed software and i had a runtime error in another game it was fixed by installing runtime pack
Maybe try and run as administrator?
Also you could try installing Jim Kitchen's Winkit instead, it does the same thing.
hi People
thanks for all of the replies
When I registerd the files With chekup.exe, it didn't work. I've tryed to redownload the game, but it didn't work.
Does anyone know what to do if that don't work?
It did work on both of my computers, but it stopped working after a while
best regards
Check to see if your antivirus has marked Swamp as untrusted, and is blocking it from opening other required files. This tends to happen because you recently downloaded it, and indeed this same situation has happened to a handful of other Swamp players when they first downloaded the patch. After they tried running it enough times, their antivirus realized the program should be trusted, it unblocked it, and everything worked perfectly.
hi all
I checked my antivirus, but it didn't Block any files.
but I still get: Swamp dialog Run-time error '52':
Bad file name or number
OK button.
is it still possible to solve this problem?
Do I have to run windows64bit.bat located in the swamp derectory or something?
best regards
If your Swamp folder has a file called progress.ini, try deleting that file.
Also be sure you aren't trying to run Swamp from inside of the zip, because it won't be able to access the other files from there. In general make sure you correctly unzipped everything too, because that error usually means it is having trouble opening a file it needs.
hi all
I tryed to delete the progress.ini file. but that didn't work eather.

Hi Remi,
Let's see if we can help you.
please try the following.
1. extract the swamp folder from the .zip file.
2. copy it to your desktop.
3. if your antivirus is active, disable it tempereraly.
4. before opening checkup.exe choose, run as administrator from the menue by right clicking the file.
5. if checkup.exe did get swamp to work, let us know.
if it did work. please reenable your antivirus.
if it did not work. please re enable your antivirus as well.
we had to disable it to figure out for sure if it was messing with things.
if all this did not yet work. please be so kind as to tell us what version of windows you are running.
and if it is a laptop or desktop you trying this on.
Hope this helps.
hi
thanks, will try it now

hi all

I extracted the folder to my desktop, then, I runned chekup.exe as admin.
but it didn't work. I'm running windows 7, I am using a desktop, but I'm going to try this out on my Laptop soon. It is a 64bit opperating system

Hi Remi.
How do you exactly extract the zip file? By right clicking on the file and choose extract? Or do you use an other extraction program?
hi slj.
I use WinRAR to extract the folder.
When I'm in the .zip file, I mark all of the files., With shift +Down aro. then I copy the files to a derectory in my documents.
If it's just a folder With all of the files in it in the .zip file, I press alt+e to extract it, then I choose the extraction path.

Hi.
I think we have the issue there.
Try to do the following:
1. Select the .zip file, and don't press enter on it.
2. Press either the applications key or shift f10 to right click on the file.
3. Go down to "Extract files" and press enter.
4. Press enter once again to extract. Now, the Swamp zip file will be extracted into a new folder in the same location as the zip file. So if the zip file is called Swamp.zip, the new folder will be called Swamp. When you extract zip files in this way, you are sure that everything, folders and sub folders, are being extracted automatically.
I look forward to hear if this works for you or not.
hi slj.
I did exactly what you said, but it didn't work.
best regards
Hmm, that's weird. What folder do you use?
Try to make a new folder on your c drive. Copy the .zip file into this folder and try to extract it again.
Don't give up. I'm sure we can get it to work as soon as we find out what the issue is.
hi slj
I did as you said, but it still doesn't want to work.
regards
Is this a work or school computer? if so, than maybe you don't have the ability to do this because of group policies set by the network admin.
What kind of antivirus are you using anyway, if it's really robust than depending on how it's set up it may be blocking the process.
Maybe their is also a virus preventing it? But if you are able to install other stuff than that shouldn't be the issue...
Could UAC be blocking part of the checkup process Aprone?
Maybe their is some kind of VB library version conflict going on?
You should try installing Winkit instead Remi.
Here's the link...

Hi Remi.
I think the zip file you have downloaded is corrupt. To test this, I have downloaded a working copy of Swamp for you, since Aprones server isn't very stable when it comes to downloading files. I have included the patch as well, so you should just unzip it, run the Checkup.exe and then Swamp.exe and it will hopefully work for you...
