My GDC talk on triple A blind gaming was just made public.
Video link: https://t.co/sZbdufa0AH
pdf link: https://t.co/jHBh9Oll5s
pptx link: https://t.co/J6eK4FBSNl

The power point pptx file has alt tag narration descriptions that did not translate to the pdf format. Any suggestions on how to fix this pdf problem are welcome.

Here are some other recent media links around this, and the new http://ea.com/able portal.

hello there!
I just wanna say that you managed this well. it was a good speech. you managed to explain evreything in a clear and a short way but still so that people who has never experienced this can still understand.
A great speech that cutts to the point and describes how we blind gamers can play EA titles along with describing how you fixed the problems that you faced and give sullutions for how to make games more accessible.
keep it up

If you use the full version of Acrobat rather than Acrobat reader it allows you to edit PDFs to add in alt attributes, reading order etc

@sito - thanks, I'm glad you liked it.

@ian - Thanks for the pdf tip, although it bothers me that accessibility is once again considered an "exclusive" feature.

Oh no sorry that's my bad choice of wording. I was just trying to be clear that I was talking about acrobat editor rather than acrobat reader. It's creating and editing PDFs that is the exclusive feature, not accessibility. Acrobat editor is just a way to go back in and fix PDFs that the creation process broke.. the creation process is where the accessibility responsibility lies.

But that has actually worked fine here. Powerpoint exports alts by default, you have to tick a box in the PDF export options menu to disabled it, and it has exported them here.. there's just some issue with them being able to be read out in the web viewer. If you download the PDF and just view it in regular acrobat viewer the alts works fine. They're there, just blocked by the web viewer.

@ian -  that is really good to know, thanks!
