@Ethin, it's pretty cold here too, and being a satisfied person makes you capitalisms worst nightmare, which is only a good thing :d.
@Jaseoffire, Welcome to monthly chat. Clok is awesome, and I'm always impressed at people who can program, though python seems a little more logical than most languages I've seen, of course since my level of programming is something close to zilcho that isn't saying much .
Well a lot happening over here as people will gather from the news. My amazon Echo dot has been hanging around for nearly a year after my brother bought it for Mrs. Dark and I last christmas. I've finally! got the thing out and am using it, and actually have found some uses for it, though wrenting music from Amazon (who seem to specialise mostly in pop crap anyway), probably won't be one of them, though I was pleased I could get Amazon's download software to work, which means I can buy mp3 stuff as I'd much prefer to do.
I might consider amazon prime, though at £79 a year, or $105 a year it's pretty steep, still I'm interested in their streaming service since I like the idea of being able to watch series on demand and that is still less than the tv license costs over here, ---- although
I haven't had a tv license in years just bought dvds and that generally does me fine .
Anyway, the games and other functions are proving handy, particularly to do whilst washing up, and because Mrs. Dark is a fan of trivia games.
We had a hilarious episode yesterday where we were playing the catagories game with y, and the computer was just not! picking up what Mrs. Dark said, or me for that matter, eg we were saying "christmas Yams" and it said "hams does not start with y"
Finally i got pissed and said "christmas your an idiot!" Whereupon Alexa chimed up with "correct!" .
Of course it's not just playing around with my amazon, especially not this time of year.
On tuesday we went christmas shopping and have got some lovely things, including two engraved glasses for my brother and his Girlfriend who have just got engaged showing a dragon and a unicorn, as that is what they're having on their engagement rings.
I'm also pleased because finally! I've found a nice cafe to stop into while I take reever for a walk which does the most amazing cakes including chocolate cheese cake, and chocolate coke gatteaux (and you did see that right, Coke as in coca-cola).
Unfortunately, crimbo shopping is still not complete, and some things need freighting up to Durham to friends we have up there, plus we still need surround sound speakers for my desktop which also doubles as our main music center, mrs. Dark needs her laptop upgrading to windows 10 and I need a new Iphone.
So lots of stuff going on right now, though I'm in a pretty good humour.
When not playing with my amazon, i've been giving some of the breakerbox games a try, notably grif, and also continuing flexible survival. I do love the fact you can use the web to do social actions or battle without starting the mud, it's a great way to continue your progress when you don't want a full on gaming session.
i do however need to also get working on the db, as it's sort of been an unspoken agnet tradition that we have a mondo update on christmas eve.
Oh, and Mrs. Dark and I did! watch the force awakens, which she predictably thought was okay right up until Han solo decided to uphold his wife's family tradition by having disasterous family reunion atop a catwalk a light saber .
She was not pleased.
She agreed with me the film wasn't bad but felt extremely flat, though now we can go and see the last later. on.
Oh, and we're still! continuing with our cooperative reading of way of kings, by Brandon Sanderson, albeit we've not read much for a while.
With our dreaming and singing, Ceaseless and sorrowless we! The glory about us clinging Of the glorious futures we see,
Our souls with high music ringing; O men! It must ever be
That we dwell in our dreaming and singing, A little apart from ye. (Arthur O'Shaughnessy 1873.)
