Now is the chance to check out Brain Station. The public Alpha has just been released.
Head over to the Brain station page at http://l-works.net/brainstation.php to read all about the game and pick it up.

Happy gaming:

Wow, those first 2 games sound cool, and those announced sound even better! big_smile

Good so far! Between this and the audio demos, I'm looking forward to this one.

2017-11-18 08:22:13

Oh, wow, I just played both games for a bit, and, wow, you've got something very hot brewing over here. Love it man, Keep it up. I'll be sure to have the funds to buy this game the day it releases.

2017-11-18 10:47:19

Yeah I actually didn't get one wrong out of like 6 rounds at bangman, was only playing on easy though, but the words are really obscure, for instance, I ended up with B, Blank, T, E, R, and I was like oh, baker, no brainer, but nope, it was bater, which I don't even know what that is. I could see baiter, but not bater, but yeah I like both the games. One thing about repeat is it takes input from both the top row and numpad, if you wanted to make it more challenging, you could eliminate that numpad option and force people to type on the top. The numpad is super easy, while I would make a lot of mistakes on the top row. But maybe that's not the point, its the memory aspect. But yeah I love this so far, can't wait until the full version comes out. Oh, and just sayin' my spell checker is firing off at bater, lol, you tryna get one over on home boy over here? tongue

I want to keep numpad as an option for people who may have mobility difficulties. The wordlist I have are all english words. you can even use the lookup option in the menu to see definitions if you want.

I usually avoid alphas and betas, preferring to wait for released versions, but this game has me interested enough to not wait for release.

2017-11-18 17:54:55

Hay Liam, just gave the alpha a try. wow, both games are cool, I particularly like repeat, though it'd be harder if the speed the sequences were given to you also increased with levels.

I hope the main version has the ability to turn down music though since unfortunately one of the drawbacks with orphius as a computer voice is it is a little on the quiet side.
I'll be looking forward to this one, especially with achievements, coins to earn so many games to try.

it's always great when someone can come up  a new twist on a traditional type of game.

I love it!
These first two games are great, Liam!
I hope that can be translated into other languages like Blinded Guide.
I can't wait the main version smile

Cristian.

Due to the large amount of text plus the fact the word games use English words, I don't think this will be translated in to other languages.

Liam,
Great to find a new game package from you!
I downloaded it and listened to the four audio demos and they sound fantastic.
However the name Bangman might
get you in trouble.
Just from the name people might think it was a sex game, and it probably has sexy words in it.
Is it rated pg or r?
There already is a game named Bang Man! for Android.
I know it rhymes with Hangman, but it could be something like, DynamiteMan,
or NobelMan, or NitroglycerinMan.
But why not remove the man part?
The game could be named Detonator, or TNT!

2017-11-19 16:19:18

I'm afraid I don't agree there Phil. I like that the game is a twist on hangman with explosives, so the name bangman work's for me, as for any assumption that it's a sexual game, ----  the hole point of double entandras is they have a normal meaning and it's just the context that alters them.

For example, there used to be an amiga platform game with the name dynamite dick, also a famous series of games on the old zx spectrum and amstrad computers involved a character called willy, including jetset willy and miner willy.

Hi!
I have also some suggestion. What about some musical games?
For example, match correct musical notes?
Or, what about game, where to find musical instrument by sound, which You have listened and after that, define musical instrument's category?

Ja volim samo kafu sa Rakijom.

This may be a bit far fetched, but I had an idea that some elements of Rhythm Rage could be programmed into Math Waltz to make the game true to its name, although the thing with that is that that would be near impossible. I'm not even saying it's no easy ride, that would just be flat out impossible. For one, it would require use of Sapi, because as anyone from VGStorm rightfully puts it, there's no way to detect whether a screenreader has finished speaking. Second, Sapi voices in any timed action game, especially one like Rhythm Rage/Beatstar, would royally suck. I mean, even if you used an SSML tag to set the speech rate at the default value, there would be no way to tell how fast each individual's synth would be speaking. Someone could be using Microsoft Sam, while another could be using Orpheus and at the same time Loquendo/DEctalk/Eloquence. Very different default speeds for each. So that would still be a nightmare to implement. Perhaps the only way it would work is if sounds were made for the numbers, but then there would have to be a complete rewrite of that game, plus a timing parser for the game plus the song used, and while it seems to play the same song every time, it would still be more trouble than its worth. Come to think of it, Math Waltz is probably left just how it is. Rhythm Rage is its own game altogether. As for Bangman, I personally have no problem with that title, it's the context that really matters. Indeed, BrainStation's initials could be a bit alarming as they are literally bs. Problem? No, probably not one worth calling home over, but generally speaking, the trend has been to shorten longer game titles, but even ones like SL2 can be shortened. Come to think of it, Brainstation isn't that long of a title, so hopefully people will just write it out. lol

2017-11-20 12:10:58

calling it BS would be some serious bs. lol anyway, I looked at crazy fore bangman and it is with out a doubt crazy. lol. can't wait fore this. I want this just as bad as i want a hero's call. lol. love the options menu by the way, and since it's meant to be educational, how hard would it be to make an option to have explicit words or not for any word games?

I think he wants Brain Station to go into schools as well. So he doesn't want little Junior to turn an Explicit word option on and have nasty words come out of the game. Because little Junior will do that.

And the wordlists are encrypted, so wordlists would have to be separate since they're all encrypted. Which is a better idea, since after all anyone who wanted those words in the game would actually have to know what they're looking for, rather than it be a switch in the game.

2017-11-25 21:29:16

ah, I see. the reason i asked was with the best of intentions. lol. well,it was just a thought. lol

Yeah. I want to get this in to schools, so there's no plans on offering explicit words. not sure about musical games, but you never know.
