Yes it has happened! the evil alien bio weapon  which took root 150 years ago has finally timed down and humanity is doooomed! How would we survive against such ruthless savagetree, oak willow is me! we aren't out of the woods yet  it's sure to end in ashes!

Ahm, actually it's just the strange mixed up nature of todays updates (and not just mixed up nature in terms of ballistic foliage), which have lead to this rather crazy title and odd supposition on my part.

First off, we have The forest which lost it's voice, which, my prophecies of doom not withstanding, is actually quite a benign forest of the bearded trees and long winded phrases variety (aside from all the hobbit crushings and wizard manglings).

Anyway, this is a new conceptual game by sound designer michael klier, produced for Audio jam 2. The game is a short wander through a wonderful sounding wood, trying to help out a friendly enchantress in gorgeous first person surround audio using your keyboard, mouse or even a gamepad.

You can Download the 64 bit version here or The 32 bit version here and since Michael is a new comer to the audiogames community, he's looking for feedback on this game, and on writing audiogames in general, so feel free to share any thoughts in This topic

Now it's time for war death and destruction!
First off this is provided by Japanese developer Morokuma's new title audio strike, which can be found here
Yes, this is another space invaders style shooter game, however with complex bosses, enemy attacks, five different ships to choose from and upgradable weaponry and armour, there is plenty that distinguishes it from the crowd.
Best of all thanks  Yukio Nozawa, the game is entirely translated into Englishk, and no mangling with complicated Japanese translations is necessary.
With  more updates planned, this is definitely one to watch for fans of the explosive.
Feel free to share thoughts and tips in this topic and thanks to Forumite Lirin for letting us know about this game.

the war doesn't stop with big explosions and mysteriously bombing alien ships though.
Cats and word games are getting in on the action on your Ios device.
this comes in the form of two games (well two mods of a similar game) by new developer Appa11y.
Word war and the even more bizarre battle cats (which sadly does not feature Heman or Skeletor). these are classic word search games for Ios which add multiplayer battle and challenge to the original concept.
Use attacks from  bombs to smoke grenades and even cat eye lasers to slow down your opponents, or challenge yourself with single player puzzles.
Both games are available in 7 different languages and are completely accessible.

For more see The Apa11y website

And this topic for Word war, and This one for Battle cats

War doesn't stop on ios though, since muds are getting into the action.

Many people will know the familiar Empire mud, See the empire mud website here, an extremely accessible mud game based on founding an empire, completing quests, trading and crafting.
For those with a more warlike and pvp focused bent, our forum member Keyisful has setup the rise of empires version, a more heavily pvp orientated port of the game, though still with all the great access features.

Connect over at riseofempires.anomalousabode.com port 4000, and feel free to discuss the game in This topic

Though of course for those without a focus on pvp or those who are happier with the original game, you can still connect to that over on empiremud.net port 4000.

Lastly, I promised something victorian, and here it is. The latest from the accessible range of gamebook style adventures Choice of games is up on android, Ios, their own website, or even Steam for those who want the hassle of such an annoying platform.

The game is entitled The superlatives and features a victoriana group of super heroes, polite but whacky scientists and an attempt to save the crown of England.

Read all about it in This topic and try out the first four chapters for free. Also note that it's on sale until the 26th of October, so feel free to get while the getting is good.

Now there is our news, and thankfully no evil trees, ---- no no evil tree ------aaaaagh!

Run for your lives, run for the hills, ---- actually scratch that most hills have trees on them, okay, run for your lives! runaway! from the hills!

That is because the version was updated.
While we always try to keep links in the db uptodate we can't always promise the same with news posts as they're by nature transitory.
