So I found this client for mudding on github after I recked my mush client. Its called coco mud and I'm really liking it so far.

CocoMUD client's main window is as simple as it can be. There's only one text field, through which you can navigate using the arrow keys, select and copy text, move at the beginning of the end of the window, and so on. I wasn't sure if this had been posted befor but mods feel free to move it if desired.

hi...
is it just me or sometimes the client freez? and it seams the client make the mud laggy haha

I'm not sure if that is the program or the Internet. Because cosmic rage is lagged but others like empire mud are not. But Its a pretty good portable client.

Moderation!

Since this isn't something we've heard about before I'll move this topic to the new releases room.

With our dreaming and singing, Ceaseless and sorrowless we! The glory about us clinging Of the glorious futures we see,
Our souls with high music ringing; O men! It must ever be
That we dwell in our dreaming and singing, A little apart from ye. (Arthur O'Shaughnessy 1873.)

I like the client so far. But unfortunately somehow the feedback is getting slower and slower till  the cocomud crashes completely.

Do you have rich text for colors enabled? I disabled that and I also disabled screen reader output. The tts option outputs to nvda.

Oh, thats realy hard! I got an error-report whenever i tryed to change something in the preferences-screen. And after that the options are still on their regular settings.

2017-10-21 02:55:47

make sure you have tts turned on and screen reader on.

I had another problem with saving configurations. But i contacted the developer and we found a solution for it! He is very kind, he likes to help and he also is very interested to get feedback and sugestions! So, realy! Everyone here who is interested in Muds should try this client. I like it very much.

Oh and i think i should mention that it is very easy to create soundpacks with this cocomud-client!

Could you pass me his contact details? Also the thing I like about it is that you can script it using a thing called sharpscript and you could make your scrips even more advanced using python. Also What I wanted to say was make sure you have ritch text for colors turned off and its just plane text. I have noticed that works well for me. Also make sure you have tts on and screen reader on.

I like the sound of this client.

I don't normally play muds for long because of the endless grinding, plus I haven't been able to find a decent mud client that was like the old gMud until Reality mud, which unfortunately is no longer being developed.

I shouldn't have to learn a scripting language to make soundpacks, and that is what gMud was good for.

Simply replace the text with the sound you want.

Not that you need a soundpack to enjoy muds.

@hurstseth405: I will try to bring the maindeveloper here to the audiogames-community.

@kool_turk: Cocomud got a very nice feature to import complete world-data written by others into your own world-folder.

Thats a realy nice feature cause everyone here knows about the trouble we often have with all the pathes or plugin-problems when we are using mush or mush-z and not all of us here are using vipmud.
I realy think that this cocomud could become something very great for us!

Hey Dark! I would say this cocomud already earned a place in the database cause it already works great! And we absolutely need more mudclients!

Hello moderation?

Could some one help him out?

Did he sign up at the forum? I think that is what you have to do. As for posting I'm not sure about that one.

He needs to introduce himself in the thread titled Restricted/new users: introduce yourself.

New users are restricted to that thread because of all the spam this place has been receiving.

Luckily, they've been limited to that thread.

I think I only saw a couple of spam posts in that thread and they were quickly taken care of.

Hello,

The problem with this is that it has so bad documentation, even in the source code.

I've researching a little but I've found no instructions how to build, how to run nor how to build distribution packages.

Dependencies are not listed in the README, and I can keep listing problems.

If the author reads this, please document these kind of things when you develop open source programs, because you're helping others to contribute if they find a problem related with it.

Cheers,

Ah, I missed a thing: please use the Github tools to track issues and contributions, because probably most users wouldn't register accounts only to create an issue or contribute a line of code.

You also have to use the Github Wiki to document your code. Any way, you can download the documentation from the Wiki repository and convert it into HTML using the python markdown library.

Cheers,

There is another way to get in contact with the developer:
You simply could join the mailinglist for Cocomud. The link is:

OK, here's the first short one. Maybe he will tell us more in another mail:

• CocoMUD is slowly moving toward greater accessibility on Linux. This doesn't go without some problems. Although CocoMUD had been thought for an all-platform design, migrating to other platforms creates some unexpected bugs. Sprint 14 has several issues that should improve accessibility and behavior on Linux.
• CocoMUD has some fixes to provide in translation and handling of international users. Most users so far have come from France and use a French keyboard, but with new users, CocoMUD is to move toward greater ease of access everywhere and hopefully be as comfortable.
• CocoMUD has a great system allowing exporting and sharing of world configuration. Unfortunately, for different reasons, the system doesn't work as expected. Several issues have been added in order to over-simplify world exporting and uploading. I will probably come back to you for advice on this topic in a following message.
• Several bugs and improvements have to be done for the SharpScript engine, to allow for even greater customization.

One last thought from me:
The biggest problem with unsupported languages is already fixed. I tested the new version on monday.
