Hello. I just tried this and it's not speaking. I even hit f12 and nothing.

Okay, try this
1. Open Kodi
2. Hit F6
Note: For me at this point it announced addon settings and worked from there, however if it won't work, try the following:
3. Hit right arrow once, then enter
4. It will bring up a list of default TTS engines, by default it is on Auto.
5. Press down twice. Once selects SAPI that crashes Kodi, down once more to select NVDA or equivalent,.
6. Press enter. Then right arrow, then then enter , it should in theory begin speaking.
7. If you want SAPI then download Kodi 16.1 Jarvis and use that, as that works by default out of the box with SAPI. IIRC my addons link was made with Jarvis, then I upgraded to Krypton.
Hopefully that helps
Dracoagain to confirm your changes
Nothing was changed.
I am using windows 7 32 bit.
I extracted the folder in appdata roaming kody addons.
I started kody.
I pressed f6 and right arrow and enter.
I pressed down 3 times for nvda and I pressed enter.
Now I pressed right and enter and nothing only kody sounds.
Can you add me on skype for this problem please?
Pm me with your address if you want.
Okay try going back to Kodi 16.1 and setting the screenreader to use SAPI then step through the engines one by one to figure out what works?
How to get 16.1?
Yeah, after looking back at some of the previous posts on this subject, fortunately a friend still had the 16.1 setup. Once I installed it and installed the Kodi screen reader, poof, it worked. I couldn't figure out how to add an add-on source for a few add-ons, but I was able to find the zip versions of the add-ons and install them manually. Shame the more new version seems rather cranky, but I never got the beeps after installing the screen reader on 17.1.
In that case yeah stick with 16.1 if you're watching video stuff, or google Kodi screenreader Rook and get a hold of Rook to let him know bout this

Hey guys!!!!! I had a breakthrough last night. So 17.1 crashes and does not even run with the screen reader installed or at least not for me. What I did was I had it working on 16.1 and I installed 17.1 and kodi would not even launch. So I went back to 16.1 for now. So what you can do, is download kodi 16.1 and Just copy the contents of that addons folder that was posted earlier on in this thread and it works perfectly in 16.1. For anyone looking for the windows installer to kodi 16, here you go. You can find the older versions of kodi on the old versions section of the kodi website. http://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases/win32/o … Jarvis.exe
FWIW the reason 17.1 crashes is as stated by Rook that it's to do with the SAPI stuff, that it causes Kodi 17.1 to crash, I got mine working by rolling back to 16.1 and configuring the screenreader to use another engine, then upgrading, and no crash.
I'll see if I can throw more addons into that folder, at all as I updated my list earlier but I'm not completely sure how many still work with 16.1 at all. I know for a fact the streaming sites are phasing out support for 16.1 however.
Hello. I had my output set to nvda and it still crashed after I upgraded to 17.1. Any ideas as to why this is? I don't even use sapi for the kodi thing. I was surprised it still crashed on 17.1 even with nvda enabled in the screen reader
Hi.
That is, a beautiful spam bot.
Oh yeah it is, but I wouldn't exactly call it beautiful haha. This particular spambot went even crazier than the last, posting 10 posts, and even going so far as to reply to it's own topics! Also, what an excessive amount of links! Anyway, I think this discussionn needs to go back to kodi asap.
As for updates, I am unsure. For now I'd stay on 16, and watch the official topic on the Kodi forums for an update from Ruuk. It's also open source, so nothing is saying you can't take a crack at it if you know python.
Hello to all. I found that topic on the Forum if anyone wants to check it out. http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=196757
i've downloaded the addons other people provided previously. however, i can't play anymore exodus tv shows. i played maybe 10 episodes of a tv show, now nothing wont play. is there a limit or something?
is kodi 17 any better now?
Seems Ruuk has gotten some help. Maybe we'll see something. His addon is on his github, so if you know python, you could help him out if you wanted.

I'm using this as a base until the situation improves. It's just a self extracting friends version of Kodi 17.3 portable with some tweaks. Feel free to take a look at this before you run it, and if you know what you are doing you can make this work for a normal version by pasting the right folders.
Hey all,
Recently got into Kodi, and so far am liking it.
Out of curiosity, does anyone happen to have that underworldtech article? It would be interesting to read it or something similar just to get a sense of addons that people find most useful etc.
Alternatively, anyone have any particular favorite addons?
Cheers,
Daniel
what is this thing, what does it do, and can someone give me a link to it?
Hi!
@daniel, I'll be putting the articles back up in time, hopefully through the month of august.
Sorry for refreshing this opic, but I cannot use NVDA in the screenreader. It just speaks with SAPI, no matter what.
hi
you have to install kodi 16 jarvis because the new kodi doesnt work with nvda.
Oh BTW, is this Screenreader addon still maintained?
