Hello all,
Well, it's happened. Instant Translate has once again stopped working, the NVDA log says https 503 service unavailable.
So, we once again have to wait for an update.
I just checked and mine still works.
I recently downloaded it from here:
http://addons.nvda-project.org/files/in … nvda-addon
HTH
Mine worked for a few translates, then it acted up. Mine is showing the following, I removed the path though:
instantTranslate\globalPlugins\instantTranslate\translator.py", line 79, in run
HTTPError: HTTP Error 503: Service Unavailable
It's still showing this, and it's still version 4. I'm not sure what's happened on my end.
mine still works...
Then again I haven't really needed for that many translations today.
I haven't been able to get it to work at all. The command insert shift t does nothing, and yes, I've done the new layered keystrokes as well. It acts like the key command is conflicting with something else, because it sometimes reads the title bar when I do this. Using the latest version of NVDA.
Hello
my instant translate still works.
I use the version that shared a user in this forum.
Greetings and thanks.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the addon, and it might have fixed it at least for now.
As for the instant translate layered commands, look at nvda's preferences, under input gestures. The shortcut for this should be nvda menu, then p, then n. In there is a tree view, if you find instant translate in that tree view and expand it, you will see some commands. Any command that can also be expanded, has a keyboard command or gesture associated with it, so if you expand it you can look at the command. You can also change it by removing the command and replacing it with your own hotkey.
Instant translate doesn't work properly for me. The first few times after booting my PC it does, however, after using it for a bit (like one minute at most), it stops working all of a sudden. Opening the log viewer reveals some errors, including:
HTTPError: HTTP Error 503: Service Unavailable
I noticed Aaron had the same problem - I recognize the error he posted above plus I'm getting some more in the log -, but it seems like he was able to fix it by reinstalling the add on, which didn't do the trick for me though. I'm using version 4.0 dev, and it has worked ever since it came out up to recently. I'm not sure what could be causing this odd behavior, and would be glad for any tips on how to fix this issue.
Hello
now instant translate doesn't work for me.
Greetings and thanks.
Hello,
I've found out some news that could be quite problematic. As Instant Translate now uses the google website rather than the API, if you use it quickly, google have a thing where they stop your IP from translating or something for a while to prevent overuse. If this was with the API, it would work fine, but I think the API is now behind a paywall but I'm not sure where to find exact info on this. I'm not really sure if there is anything the Instant Translate developer can do at this point, but for gaming it's a bit of an annoying nightmare and also for translating documents. I could barely get past the update screens when I launched bk3 the other day after a long time, and had to quit at the main menu.
For Bokurano Daibouken and ShadowLine, maybe we could have a work-around using an independent site? It could store common queries, like for these games, but redirect you to Google or Bing as necessary for what it can't find. This seems like it might be more stable than the thing I tried (which ran into character encoding problems no matter what I did).
It would probably take some manner of PHP / SQL / CGI / some kinda backend software that is all beyond me, though.
So anyway, I figured I'd try playing some bk3 on a different computer with a version of instant translate that I'd had installed months ago and simply forgot about it. I haven't looked into the addon so I have no idea why this one actually works flawlessly. Let me know if you guys have problems otherwise, but I've been able to test it on 2 computers with success. I don't currently have any other way to provide the link, so dropbox it is. Grab it quick!

not working. after one minute. so the same and same problem. again and again.
It only works for a while for the first 40 or 50 translates, then it stops working, and sometimes it doesn't work for even the first one so it's super unstable.
Huh, wow. I spammed a bunch of translates through it yesterday. Shame really. It was worth a try I guess.
I'm working on a long term solution for this problem.
I'll use a solution similar to what CAE_Jones mentioned in post 11, though I'll be using the paid google translate service from my server.
This will take the form of a new NVDA addon specific to translating these games from Japanese to English.
In other words it is not intended for more general translation use.
Nonetheless, I think it will be a great solution for the Japanese games going forward.
That'll be certainly helpful. The main UI of BK3 will be translated in the future, but it will take lots of time. Also, there are many grate Japanese titles including Shadow Rine and other text games.
I'm really glad to hear that BK3 will have a built in translation in the future.
That will make it much easier for English speakers to get a taste of Japanese games without worrying about extra addons.
It will probably also have a much better written translation than what google provides since I expect it will be hand written.
I'm definitely goint to support ShadowRine as well as I love playing that game too.
And this addon could also work for BK2, BK1, or other Japanese games, though BK3 and ShadowRine are the only ones I've played so far.
Hi people!
I have a similar problem today. Sometimes It doesn't translate.
Hello,
@ian: this sounds awesome. If I have to, I'll even pay, although I don't know whether I'll pay for a subscription because I go through phases when it comes to playing games.
Problem is, I use it for more than just games. I use it for programs written in japanese that are hopelessly unable to find a already made translation, and so big that the google website will actually blank half of it out. Things such as mid2mml. I use it to translate rather big documentations and things that the google service would otherwise not allow via the webpage. You could always try bing... Or possibly systran, though as far as I know systran is payed up to like 200 bucks to get the program and two languages, and that's for a single user at home!
hi guys,
that doesn't work me as well
I've been looking nvda's log
there have service unavailable, error 503
just working 1 or 2 minute for me after doesn't work
so I think google blocking our Ip or what
I'll be glad to know why google does that, I've downloaded bing desktop app
It's not accessible thought
i'll wait when japanese games will be translate english
guess i will be play after translation
