On a related note: does linux actually have a complete, holistic desktop environment yet? I mean, how close are we to not requiring a CLI? It's interesting to me that focus in recent times like XFCE has actually been to go backwards, i.e. maintain the status quo.

Edit: Well, of course you can go the non-GUI talking desktop route too, like ADRIANE, but that's not really what I'm talking about. Like Oralux and EmacsSpeak before it, the danger is in the exclusivity, as usual. Could be worth checking out though.
