Hi all,
Can you give me your oppinion of external harddrives? I use one to put *!!EVERYTHIN!!** on. It is 60 gb and i have filled 49.5 gb of it's copasity. I am thinking about getting an external hard drive that has an extremely large amount of storage space. (E.G. a terabite). My 60 GB one is a portable drive, I think its made for notebooks (which is what my computer is), and its perfect, except for the space. Its western digital. Any recommendations?
Thanks

The portable ones are made for notebooks, such that you can take it with the notebook.

Non portable ones I would imagine would work well as a "base station" in effect for stuff you want around but don't need all the time or on the move.

Also bear in mind they are still hard drives and subject to the same failures or damage as other hard drives, so it may be a good idea to back up to DVD if you have the capability to do so.

I have a 120gig and have no idea how much of it I filled up.

It's about as big as my book port, maybe a half an inch wider.

It's a cool little thing, tristan u should get a 120gig or maybe a 256gig or something, or perhaps a tb (1024 gigs, also refered to as 1000gigs.).

Yeah i know about a yoddabyte! but, isn't that like 1024 terabytes? Lol! That thing would be the size of a desktop CPU! And do they even make 'em yet? I mean... they just started to really manufacture and make one terabite external harddrives...

I wanan get one too. I can fit all of my computer's harddrives on it including this one, which has 2 hd's. drive c and d. I can take my laptop's entire c and d drives as well.

And I can copy vitally important cd's in .iso format when I get one, and if I get one. I will do this as to not lose the cd's like I have.

So I will probably get a terribyte...
