You can find the link if you click the PM link under a post. Then you can find the link inbox. That's where your messages are. HTH.
BTW, I think there were a few changes and one of then made the link dissapere.

I think you do nnot get emailed by the forum mailer for priwate messages. I can't see such option in the profile settings.
