Hey, since people here seem interested in MAME lately there's an

emulator caled M1 which plays the songs out of most if not all romsets

supported by mame, and even some which MAME does not sound or otherwise).

You can download it from

http://www.emuhype.com/index.phtml?s=misc&ss=files
Read m1.txt to learn how

to operate it.

Have fun.

does

it work while playing a game? i mean, on some of the games, it says "game

lacks sound." if i load up die hard arcade and run the emulator thingy, and

start the game will it start making the music and sounds it should do?

Uh quick question. MAME? James or some one explain this please. I feel like

a dumbass for not knowing about this.

mame:

a multiple arcade machine emulator.
this, in other words, allows you to

play arcade games on your computer.
if you go to

http://mame32roms.chessman21.com, and get the mame32 binary. then i

recogmend downloading x-men and blade master, 2 side-scrolling games. in the

dirrectory you extracted mame32, there is a "roms" subdirectory. place the

zip files for x-men and blade master, (xmen.zip) and i forgot the other

name. xmen is forr x-men and there is another zip file for blade master.

then go into mame, and go to file, click "ordit all games". and wait for a

while, then look with whatever screan reader you use at the window, it

should say either checking game <a gamename>, or "file ordit". then read it,

it should say something like: rroms group
correct: 2
incorrect: 0
then

click ok, and once that's done, press tab, and it should be onn all games.

press down arrow, or a, to get to "avalable". then the 2 games should be in

the list! to get more roms, go to www.emucation.com and register. you will

need to know what zip-file is for what rom, otherwize you cant download the

right one.
for example, ya dont click on "guardian" for the "guardians"

game, ya click "grdian". to find out zip-files for roms, look at the all

games list, for the game you are looking for, to do this a little easier,

press the letter of the game til you get to the name. then, press the

"application" key, to the right of the right windows key, and click

"properties". it should say what zip fikle it is, something like:
test rom

(world)
"testrom"
that was just an example, no such game exists as the one

i just gave, that's just an explination!
hopefully this should help you

with mame.
to oh and one more thing
when you run a game, type "ok" on your

keyboard and press the spacebar, then keep pressing the number 5 on the

number row til you hear a sound. also, look at the "statsus:" in properties

for a certain game, it may say something like:
status: working
and

sometimes:
video emulation isn't 100% accurate,
if this happens there

will be another screan where you must type "ok".
once the game has

started,
press 5. this inserts a coin. then press 1 to start.
now... the

buttons.
most of the time you will want to use:
control: button 1 -- most

side-scrolling games use this for the attack button, shooters will let ya

shoot the gun with this button.
this also silects a character.
alt: button

2 used for jumping.
space: button 3 -- this sometimes woriks sometimes

doesn't, sometimes it uses a special power to get rid of all the enemies,

this can also be achieved by pressing control and alttogether.
if you have

any more questions,
e-mail:
[email protected]
and i will

reply. there are other buttons, i will try to find them and paste all the

stuff in on a quickstart guide for the controls/buttons.
hope this explains

it all.

For those who have played mk2 with mame 32: What should be the keyboard layout in order to play it normally. When iI looked at the controlls, it said something like: button1 ctrl, button2 space.
