Today marks the ten year anniversary of one of the most tragic events in world history, an event delivered with much ferocity and brutality which crippled families, crushed spirits, and devastated the hopes, dreams and beliefs of a multitude of people.  Those of us who remember it will not soon forget the events that took place on that dreadful day and the hours which seemed to last an eternity as we watched in horror, fury, and sadness while an attack was carried out on the United States of America on its very own soil.

In less than two hours, hundreds of lives were lost to raging fires and collapsing buildings as first the pentagon, then the world trade center were destroyed.  More lives would soon meet dreadful ends.  Chaos ensued as loved ones tried to connect with each other and many scrambled to be informed on everything that was going on in the rest of the country.  The security of those who lived on American turf had been breached and shattered to bits.  As the day continued, a wave of terror engulfed the nation, sweeping from coast to coast as its people waited to see what would happen next.  Panic spread as more information was gathered, because it seemed that the more was known, the less could seriously be believed, and the questions began.

How could anyone orchestrate such evil, and why?  Who was behind it all?  Would the world ever be the same again?  Most upsetting for many, however, were the soon to be birthed conspiracies that waged war on the minds of many, planting dark seeds of doubt and despair within society, claiming that perhaps the US government could somehow possibly be involved in it all.

Today, I am not here to fuel those beliefs, or any other for that matter, for in my mind the beliefs are of little importance compared to the facts.  Today is one in which many families will grieve and remember lost friends and neighbors all over again.  Today is a day of sadness for many, a day of reminiscence that brings those who need healing closer to their goal, because for some, it is as fresh today as it was ten years ago.
