Hi,
A

sad news here:
My worst nightmare has come true,

http://onj.andrelouis.com/dectalk is no longer up. Guess no one donated to

Andre Louis and its gone... And I was palling to download all parodies  from

the site...
Any of you know a back-up site for all this? Did any of you

actually cared to save the songs on an ftp server, web page, etc?
If not,

i'm sad to say that all of those peoples work, hours and hours and hours of

work is now gone, thrown in the waste bin.

like 5 months ago now! and now it's come true.
that was the best sight

ever.
i loved that sight. i will never be able to hear the one taht goes,

"the clock is mine. that means it's mine! if you want my clock..... then

you'll need to go back in time!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I

want to make Dectalk sing, when I do the commands like lets say I want it to

sing "I bite". I type:
[ay<500,15>]
[b'ayt<500,20>]
And it will sing

them at the same pitch! What is going wrong?

It's because you're putting the pitch after the t phoneme.  I fyou

want it to sing the "ay" you write it like [b'ay<500,20>t]

Does anyone know how to make multiple voices epeak at once in

Dectalk? is it, say, if I wanted Paul and Harry to speak at the same time,

do I just type [:np] followed by a comma, then [:nh]? Please help. Thanks.

If you want two voices talking or singing at the same time you have

to record them seperately in the dectalk demo and mix them with a program

like goldwave.

I'd love to be able to make Dectalk sing, but I don't own one, so I can't even experiment. I'd love to hear it sing Inxs songs. That'd be funny, Dectalk singing Never Tear us Apart.

But wait, what's that? A transport! Saved am I! Hark, over here! Hey nonny non, please help!

Hi.
Go to Chriss N's website and go to the DT Page. There, you will find a list of useful commands for DT. Chriss N's Website is:
www.panix.com/~ccn
Hope this helps.

it doesn't say how you can make it sing, i thought it was something like [ah(30,30)] or something i tried that but didn't work.

2006-03-07 08:35:03

oh, you have to put them between less then and greater then symbols not with parents.

Chaman:
The DecTalk I know of comes in two versions, hardware and software. I don't know if the software version can sing, but I've never used it myself. In either case it must be purchased. I believe DecTalk 32, the software version, comes in versions for both Jaws and Window Eyes or so I was told by someone I knew who used it.

no cx2, there is a demo version of dectalk which only reads the texts you paste in it's window, and it has the ability to sing, so, that's it.

2006-03-07 19:14:50

I said it was to the best of my knowledge, I didn't say it was guaranteed.

Besides, I'm not bothered about DecTalk. I can't stand the voice, I far prefer Eloquence.

dectalk 4.3 is good, it's only the higher versions that sound sooo bad. I've tried a demo from gw micro (don't know if it's still there) and wendy's whispering was not whispering any more at all. they screwed it up or something, it just doesn't sound good any more.

2006-03-08 18:29:46

I never actually liked any of the DecTalk voices I've heard. The pitch of the voice gives me a headache, that's most of the reason. No idea why though.

besides, the voice is not so clear and still elequence (and voicetech of course) are not compareable with that! forget about dectalk, go for elequence/voicetech! lol.

2006-03-10 07:47:46

well what do you want? it is nearly the same. can you make eloquence sing? no. does eloquence allow you to create voices like breathy voices or the [:dv gf parameter in dectalk? no. eloquence's good, but you can just have a lot more fun with dectalk. at least if you're using 4.3 or lower, cause i don't like the higher versions.
