If you want I can make you a little intro scene, that can possibly shape the story of the game.

You don't want to force yourself to code a lot, yet you want to create such a complex game? How will you do it then, hire a paid coder? I'm not ironic or anything, just really confused.

This seems less than wise to be talking about a game you've just started, or have you started it yet? You don't want to force yourself to code a lot? OK so this means what, in a month or two you will give up on it, thus, this announcement thread would be irrelevant

Announce a game maybe 2 weeks prior to release man, or like a month or two if you want to build hype, which, let's face it, we don't have enough people, money, or assets to have a game that's truly worthy of the hype train so better avoid that.

Ghorthalon, I thought it might have been meant sarcastically and it amused me quite a bit, but I didn't comment on it just to make sure. :-)

It's OK.
I posted it and then debated for hours on end whether what I had just done was ethically correct, until I noticed the developer making every single stereotype clear in his post after which I thought it must have been a joke.

Just in case this is not a joke, it might hurt, but let me be the first, but definitely not the last, to tell you that this isn't gonna work out. Never. Ever.

You're biting off far too much than you can chew right now, sadly. And while I wish we had the tools available to quickly pump out an audiogame like that, that's not how it goes.

Learn BGT first, or whatever language you choose to learn. Come to grasp with it. Work your way up small, rather than trying to do too much at once and flopping over because of all the foreign concepts. Guess the number to get into conditions. black jack to get into Arrays and classes and what not. But no first timer has ever coded a fully functional, and good, FPS before.

This is not meant to sound insulting, or like I look down upon you. Which I clearly don't. But without knowing how to cook, how are you gonna prepare a meal? Without knowing how to play the piano, how are you going to play the most amazing tune for all the people you invited? Even if is the most amazing tune, if you don't know what the keys do, you can just replay what you learned by heart. And with coding that's not really how it should go.

seems a bit  like your jumping the gun if you've not even started making it yet? so I'm not hopeful that this will ever come to fruition. tell me there's a game coming out hwen it's in development not before.

Dare to be enthusiastic, without being afraid of disappointing anyone. This way, even if nothing ever comes out of it, at least you enjoyed the enthusiasm. This community should learn to deal with that gracefully.

I don't get what you mean. What is the point of bringing up this old topic again, especially when the game doesn't seem to be released?

Hey guys, karate25 here. Post #3, thanks for that cool youtube video you put up. I really liked it and found it very informative but it also makes me beg the question, what do I do to get started? I know the gentleman says not to learn to program but to solve a problem that excites you. He also mentions as an example one of those problems being to develop cool games that you'd like to see come out which I definitely would because in my personal view, the audio gaming community has become rather stale over the years with a hero's call being the first real breath of fresh air in a very long time. I've got a regular traffic jam of game ideas up here that haven't been done in the audio gaming community and I'd like to figure out how to get them out. If I've got to outsource sound design and voice acting to some of you folks here in the audio gaming community I'll be glad to do that and I'll learn to code if I absolutely must. Should I just pick up BGT and mess with it again? although I've been hearing some seriously mixed reviews about BGT but I also love the sonus programming software that the gentleman is building for this new audio gaming console he's building although while that's going to be a nice addition to our community I know one person said that audio games segregated us from mainstream companies since they figure that we've got our own thing going on which isn't necessarily true. I quite agree about the segregation part. So my question is what should I do next. And yes I know that the gentleman in the video said that I would probably get a lot of responses of types of languages I should use but that those are mostly from people's own personal opinions of ones that they personally would use. I also know nothing about sound editing so would this even be worth taking up right now? but yes I've got lots of gaming ideas up here and yes I would start out small and build my way up. Have a wonderful day to you all.

Hey guys, karate25 here again. I've decided to take one more crack at learning to code games, and I've decided on python as my programming language of choice since I hear it's very easy to pick up and learn. I'm letting you know that if I ever do manage to learn to create anything substantial, I'm going to need to outsource both my sound engineering as well as my voiceover stuff since I know absolutely nothing about sound editing or voice acting really although I've been told I've got a very good voice. And that's all I'm going to say about my learning to code, I'm going to shut up and not discuss any games or anything I'm just going to learn as best I can and get to work. I like the fact that python is free to download. Has anyone here heard of something called udemy? it's supposed to be a distance learning thing that works on your mobile devices and you can take courses. There are 3 free courses on learning Python and I was thinking of taking the gaming one if it's accessible. They had one where you could learn the basics of python, one where you could learn everything and one where you could learn to build games. I'd like to take the one that shows you gaming since that's the one I'm most interested in. Have a wonderful day to you all and happy gaming.

Although it's better for you to know that before you begin making games you need to know python's sintax good enough to be able to code more than simple games. Although after learning them you'll see it's really not a big challenge since python has got good ways to debug your app with and they are pretty straight

coding is no where near as easy as everyone thinks it is. well, not everyone, as we've seen in this topic but some people think they can just whip up a good, functional game in like 3 hours work. I tried to make a 2d game and thought it would be quite easy but it was actually very hard and I am still working on it. but never give up, and you will make an even better game then you thought you would.
