Yeah I can't really unlock more worlds atm.

I have 11 worlds unlocked, but I'm getting restless. I'm trying to hone my skills at some of the games I already have unlocked, but now that I know where the city is, I want to get to it. I actually suck at the mosquitoes game in general, I usually don't score above 8 for some reason. I think the highest I managed was 11, so I have no clue how I'll get a perfect score.

The glass is neither half empty nor half full. It's just holding half the amount it can potentially hold.

I think I've unlocked every world now after finally getting a score of 4 in that dang dragon scales game. Heh.

I noticed an issue. The changelog says that the mental arithmetic games are set on a timer and not a rhythm. The actual games are set on a rhythm and not a timer. What is this?

Well finally finished the plane, albeit certainly not all of the games, oddly enough I did better at the dice sliding game than the magic flowers one lol, though still no chance with the Rainbow tower.

Some very interesting games in there, albeit some tough ones, and some that probably could do with a bit more by way of instructions, I lost twice at the dice game before  I realised what was going on.
To answer a few points I've seen, with many side scrolling games like boreal forest remember that whilst your on a ladder enemies can't get you, you don't have to climb, just as long as you've pressed up arrow once on a ladder anything will just zoom straight past.
So, all you need to do with the elk is just wait until they're going right, run right until you reach a ladder, climb it a rung, wait until they run left past you, then run right until you get to the next ladder, rinse and repeat. This works for quite a few games, albeit others like the flying boat are still difficult, and don't get me started on that bouncy penguins minigame in the ice, God I've died to that one so many times its not funny.

With the lava bridges in the volcano, and indeed with dragon scale hunting and several other games with lava, one important thing to remember, is that before you hit lava, you'll hear a stepping on mud sound, so when you hear that you'll know your next step will drop you in the drink.

For the game where  your crossing on the small islands, each island is square and linked by at least two metal bridges. So, to begin I go north until I hit the mud sound, then track east or west until I hear myself  stepping on the first northward bridge.
Once I'm on the first island, I take one step forward onto the stone, then go north until I hear the mud sound again. I then alternate taking one step east or west, then one step back onto the stone center of the island. If I'm lucky I find another metal bridge on the north side, if I'm not lucky, when I take a step back I hear another mud sound meaning I'm at the top corner of the island.
In this case, I repeat the process for the east or west side, one step south, then one step back east or west onto the stone until I find the bridge which I can cross to the next island, then I go to the north side and repeat the process.
This isn't as long winded as it sounds and I can usually get 20 points, unless the random generator is against me.

Generally speaking the random generation usually goes bridge north, then bridge east or west, then bridge north, though not always.

The lava mud sound is also useful in the dragon scales game, though with that one its harder since you need to stop instantly when you hear the mud. Usually I try to make dashes north to a scale if I can, and try not to take too many risks, but I'll agree that one is  tough.

With the mosquitoes, the best tactic I've found is to run around the outside corridor using diagonal runs left or right to grab mosquitoes as I pass, and making sure not to miss one. Usually running around the outside saves time getting lost and most mosquitoes movements take them to the outside more often. I can usually guarantee to get 17 or so doing this, though to get all twenty still takes a wee bit of luck.

Lastly with the sticks game, basically the rule to remember is simply to make sure your opponent always has a multiple of four sticks plus one and you'll win, so aim to always give your opponent 21, 17, 13 9 or 5 sticks.

hth.

I'm now up to 169 minigames and 14 worlds, though there are still plenty I haven't done and some like cursed field which I still have no idea about (I gather that one is echo location, but it seems pretty damn random and usually I can only do it by trial and error).

Okay just been through the desert. Some very cool games there once I got through the date palms, though yee gods I'm not sure which I hate more, the slabs or the hidden palace.
For the palace, there really should be an indication of when a crossbow is going to fire, same as with the cannons, given how fast the arrows are, often I got killed just coming up a ladder, or because a crossbow shot and I didn't have time to jump, indeed it seems the only way to survive is hammer space like a demon and hope you get lucky and that's not really on.
Similarly, with the slide puzzle, this probably wouldn't be as bad if I were better at slide puzzles myself big_smile.
Still since the objective is to have everything in as correct a place as possible with points for correctness its not as bad as it sounds, also, don't make the same mistake I did and assume that 8 goes on the top right big_smile.

I've seen scales placed pretty far from each other, near each other, far from the south side of the map, close to the south side of the map, etc. So yes, it's kind of random. Same with the dragons. sometimes a dragon will be really close to the south side of the map and you really have to wait for it to move to the corner.

2018-07-10 23:08:38

for me on average the scales tend to be more commonly in the centre of the map than at the sides, the problem tends to be either that I'm waiting for a dragon to move for a long time before picking a scale up, or that I am running flat out away from a dragon and miss the mud footstep sound so wind up in the lava.

I've just tried the bombs arena game too, since I think when I went through the volcano before that one wasn't there, and no idea on that one either, also is it me or has the fire game changed? the one just at the start of the  where you have to press the up and down arrow keys.
Previously I could complete it by hammering both keys together as fast as possible, now I seem to be dying at minus 10 points which is weird.

slide puzzles. I posted a few days back on liam's version of it. Even though I have not come close to a version of a tactic that is completely foolproof, what I have posted and discovered so far  has helped me beat it sometimes relatively quickly and at least gets me really close.

Hello! I would love to ask for some guide on how to pass mosquito killing at 20 pts. Thank you very much in advance.

I run the circuit of the room down the center of the halls and if I hear a mosquito buzzing near me I don't move on until I can't hear it anymore.

You also don't lose a lot of time swatting and you are not penalized for missing. If you are in a cloud of mosquitos, and you'll know. Swing around like a madman until the buzzing is either far away or silent. If you can rapid-hit the f key you'll be just fine.

You can't get it every time but that's what I do to score very well and I have gotten perfect scores before. On the castle stage, most of the games that open up if you get the 20 pt. total  are pretty easy, with some tricks making even the castle walls not too bad. The others are pretty easy.

Hi, Phoenix here. I agree, it is actually easy to get a perfect score of 20 points squashing those pesky mosquitoes. I simply go around the perimeter of the square to hunt down and swat them. This usually works, but sometimes that one pest is too fast. I have a quick question. I posted it previously, but never got an answer. It says in the change log that the mental arithmetic challenges are set on a timer and not a rhythm. However, in the actual game, they are set on a rhythm and not a timer. What is this timer supposed to mean?

at least for me those arithmetic games do seem to go on a timer and not a rhythm. You are given the problem and then have a little time to answer it. As you answer more and more right, the time gets shorter and the problems get harder. The music played in the games has a lot of thumping electronic base so the games sound rhythmic in terms of soundtrack but they really do seem more just like timed games to me with a very short time to answer the problems that gets shorter an dshorter as you do well.

It is actually a lot like playing a game in the warioware series. Which is interesting because the music and sounds from those arithmetic games are from Warioware Megaparty, one of my favorite gamecube games. from back in the day.

I think them saying rhythm is a bad translation or something. as far as I can tell those arithmetic things are just timed with very short windows for answering right.

Actually there's a technical explanation about the music versus timer.  Before this change, you had all the way until the music finished to answer each math question. The music gets faster and faster as you go through the questions, but due to a limitation of bgt there is a maximum speed the music can go. So if you are able to answer questions at that speed you can answer questions for a very very long time without it getting faster. Now the time you have to answer doesn't have a lower limit like it used to. So eventually even if the music doesn't speed up because it's reached its maximum speed, you'll now have less and less time to answer the questions. That's to stop people who were able to get hundreds of points on gmes, particularly the square root game, wher eyou only have to memorize 50 square roots.

Hi there crazy party players. Lol anyways enough of that. Uh, Oh yeah, that's what I was gonna say.
The powder recipe game in the plaine has an unlok bleep on it, but when I get 20 points, it just unlocks the flowers and die games. If I get less, it does the same thing. Don't know if this is a bug?

Hi.

The unlock sound simply refers to any game that unlocks more than two paths, it doesn't necessarily mean a game has a special tied to it, just that  it gives more than one alternative of where to go afterwards. Obviously if you finish a game with the unlock sound    and only get one path choice, (you can assume you need to get a full score to unlock the other path, but if both paths unlock anyway when you've finished a game you know you've already found everything there is to be found.

Hth.

Ooh, good to know about not getting penalized for slapping at the mosquitoes and missing, I thought for sure that's what was going on and why I was getting such a low score. I haven't actually tried it in awhile, I got burnt out on Crazy Party for a bit there because I keep dying in the volcano world.

Also, I'm not sure if it's just me, because this makes no sense from a technical standpoint, but I find that if I start with the perilous corridor and take that path until it ends, so ending with unstable platforms, then wrap around and do the fire game, it's a lot easier. As I said, it makes no sense, but when I first unlocked the volcano world, I had a lot of trouble with the fire game until I did that.

might just be strategy. some games in a world get you listening for sounds that are important in other games in the same world so when you play certain ones in a certain order, you become alert.

Just went through a binge play myself. And stuck on the beach. Unlocked the circus today and also beat the underground. So now I have 7 worlds. Not many but I am proud to say I have the city.

I'm stuck between two games in the beach level, there is the manta ray pit, which I am probably going to try and avoid playing and there is the Frisbee game.

I am really bad at water levels and the manta ray game is like the underwater cave with extra problems thrown in. I'm not even very good at the underwater cave (enough to win, but not well)  so I really don't want to do the manta ray one. my high score on that one right now is negative 8.

The other one I'm having trouble with is the Frisbee game. I have trouble centering myself on the Frisbees and often get confused on what direction I ought to move. My hearing is excellent but sometimes I'll think it is coming from my left when it is on my right and vice versa. And I'm having a lot of trouble with that one too as I lost so bad that I had over 70 coins when I started playing it and wound up dying. My high score on it is minus 7.

I want to finish the beach but am having some trouble.

Yeah, I have that problem with the frisbee game as well. Good luck with dangerous frisbees when you unlock the factory, that one nearly made me want to smash my computer at first.

My strategy, since I've managed to improve quite a bit, is to first center yourself where you think it should be. In my experience, I'm not usually off by more than a square or two. Wait until the frisbee is almost on the ground, then quickly adjust your position. It takes practice, but it can be done.

The game I have the most issues with on the beach is Hungry Penguins. I can never get more than 4 points with that. It seems impossible to catch enough fish. Well, that, and a Race Through the Beach, but that one is just rigged, in my opinion. If you have to swim in the water, and you inevitably do at some point during the race, it's all over.

The glass is neither half empty nor half full. It's just holding half the amount it can potentially hold.
