I just downloaded the zip file again hoping to get the 1.3.1 version of it but as far as I can tell the zip file is still 1.3.0.

2018-07-08 22:04:18

the .zip file is 1.3.0 and this is what I get when running rsynk updater. rsync error: error starting client-server protocol (code 5) at main.c(1648) [Receiver=3.1.2].                            Yeah strange.

Once I downloaded a clean copy it worked just fine. Took about ten minutes or so to update but the update got done. I've definitely noticed some improvements.

But wait, what's that? A transport! Saved am I! Hark, over here! Hey nonny non, please help!

2018-07-08 22:24:25

I'm waiting to hear from the smarter members of the team, who actually handle the updater, but if I understand correctly, there are a limited number of different people who can simultaneously access the update server. If people are unable to update it's likely because too many other people are currently updating—and again, you probably wouldn't notice if it was a quick update as in the older architecture, because the odds of updating at the same time as a large number of other people would be so low.

2018-07-08 22:53:07

Sounds like whenever they come out with an update to a screen reader. Everyone bombards the server and it can't handle it.

But wait, what's that? A transport! Saved am I! Hark, over here! Hey nonny non, please help!

2018-07-08 23:00:56

Back before I lost my vision and used Steam, that's sounds like the Steam servers when a new game or an update is released.

Any guess when the downloadable zip file will be updated to 1.3.1?

2018-07-08 23:07:43

I do like the in-game update announcement.

But wait, what's that? A transport! Saved am I! Hark, over here! Hey nonny non, please help!

2018-07-08 23:19:59

Orko, it was supposed to have been already. Apparently it didn't go. I'm going to look into it shortly.

2018-07-09 00:20:01

I'll try it again, it's entirely possible that I tried the download before the file got updated.

(man, you should try typing after drinking several 16 ounce aluminum bottles of Budweiser beer, it not easy!)

2018-07-09 03:44:42

Pretty soon you'll be falling down drunk like in Kingdom of Loathing. Come to think of it it'd be funny to see Simeon drunk. LOL.

But wait, what's that? A transport! Saved am I! Hark, over here! Hey nonny non, please help!

Try to run Updater as admin. That's what I did and it's work for me.

The first two times I ran updater today, it just exited, apparently without doing anything, but the third time was the charm, it started downloading files.

Since the downloadable zip file still appeared to be version 1.3.0, I zipped up the directory so I'd have a clean set up of version 1.3.1 should I ever need it.

2018-07-09 04:26:26 (edited by Joseph Westhouse 2018-07-09 04:26:53)

I have confirmed that the full download version is now 1.3.1; I believe that there was a mix-up and an older version was uploaded over the new one, shortly after we announced the update. Apologies on behalf of the whole OOSG team for the inconvenience.

2018-07-09 04:33:59

Heck, I'd have been suspicious if it had gone off without a hitch. We are talking about programming after all LOL. It's kind of like a mission in Star Trek. You'd never see an episode where something didn't go wrong with either the mission, the ship or both at the same time.

But wait, what's that? A transport! Saved am I! Hark, over here! Hey nonny non, please help!

2018-07-09 15:52:38

No worries, thank you for sorting that out.

2018-07-09 18:48:04

Hello all!
After many tries, struggles and failures, I finally managed to update to 3.1. .
The probleme is, I can't trigger the script relative to bonus items. Perhaps I just didn't put enough money during the campaign (but I'm quite sure I did). I suppose I should mension that I lost my save file while trying to replace my old version by the new one.
I don't complain about that, I'm completely responsible for this, but if the script only triggers when you load an old save...
Just in case, my full name is Simon Verzin, don't know if it helps, but maybe I just didn't reach level 5.
Oh, one last thing I forgot to mension, my name is mensionned in somewhere in the end of the credits, among the long list of people who have donnated. As I said, don't know if it helps but...

Best regard,
Simon

If you're starting a new game, the script in question won't trigger until you've finished playing through the "intro" (i.e., after you speak to Lord Adrianus). If you would like someone to check what reward leve you contributed at, feel free to email support and one of us will take a look.

I would gladly pay another $20 or so to have this game on xbox one-s or xbox one x as the first xbox one-s audioGame! that would be excellent!

2018-07-09 19:21:34

I almost wish I could have contributed to the campaign just to see what these bonus items are.

But wait, what's that? A transport! Saved am I! Hark, over here! Hey nonny non, please help!

2018-07-09 19:38:53

Dear Hero's call developer!
First and foremost, I would like to pay my sincere thank for initiating the first ever RPG game with fully voice dialogue. This is the game I have dreamed of for so long. With hours of fun, I definitely support your amazing  audio game in the future. I mean the price is not too high in comparison to the fun I got. Keep up the good work.

Hay Joseph, I'm not really sure where to leave this, so I'll leave it here.
After picking up my rewards; all 14 of them; I realized a tiny
flaw with one of the quests in the game.
See I started out as a worier just to test the game out and after building him out as a worier I did a quest and got a magic spell for completing it.
Beeing a worier, this spell is my only one; and it my character's only multy-target spell to boot, so I had to hall back and put stat points into magic just to use said attack.
All this wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that this game follows the fantasy... "iron blocks magic' rule.
You see, I now have these awesome weapons, but using them effectively disables my only multy-target spell.
I'm not sure how hard this would be to program in, but what if completing said quest actually rewarded your character with an ability fitting of their class.
The current reward of blessed peace would be really awesome in the hands of a priest or maybe even a mage, but a worier or thief might bennifit more from something like a holley strike.
And I'm not really sure what you'd do for something like a necromancer...
This still wouldn't solve the multy-target problem, though it would also not punish a player for using the reward in battle due to how significant it can be.
Really likeing the new update, not so much for what it adds; though the items are vary much appreciated; but for how much better the game seems to run on my system.
Later!

@joshknnd1982: Re: #43, we'd like that too. Still hoping that may be somewhere in AHC's future, but the road to that point is proving very slow indeed. Unfortunately it would take a lot of $20 purchases for even one of us to quit our day jobs and develop full-time, but that would sure speed up the process.

Re: #47, if the updater is reporting 100% progress but hasn't closed out, my best advice would be to close out of it manually and see if the game will launch. If not, you may need to try the updater again—if you're lucky, it won't have to re-download everything, but that's not an issue we've encountered before so I'm really just guessing.

@threeblacknoises: While we appreciate the feedback, it's not uncommon for a quest to have a thematically appropriate reward that will be more useful for one class than another—this isn't the only instance of this. And it is possible to build a warrior character who is able to take advantage of magic, though probably not as efficiently as a dedicated magic-user. In other words, we're comfortable with the fact that physical combatants, particularly those choosing to focus on heavy armor, get the short end of the stick on this quest reward.

EDIT: I'm adding a note about this to the opening post too, but for future reference, it would be helpful if we could keep this thread dedicated to questions, problems, or other discussion specifically centered on the version 1.3 update. For more general comments, there is always the main AHC thread. I'm just trying to make it easier for people who come along later to find relevant information :-)

it worked, I got it updated.

2018-07-09 20:58:29

Glad to hear it. I guess the window just didn't close out like it was supposed to? Sigh.
