Oh wow, it looks like maybe Namecheap reverted their DNS settings or something, maybe they did that because of a TOS violation or something.

Hope that if they get it up again they remove the autofocus attribute from their search form, it is really annoying and it really! shouldn't be there.

yeah it must be the influx of porn stuff that the site received the last few days. I haven't been a fan of that site but it was fun listening to what people posted sometimes.

He didn't renew the domain, so Namecheap reverted the DNS settings.

Site is back up, it seems. What a shame it is, too. This is just another lesson to Sam (who, of course, will ignore it, but will probably say he won't to curry public favor) that Sam needs a terms of service, strict content control, and mature moderators (a.k.a. not him or any of his "administrators" who moderate that site, because they've proven themselves incapable). I hope this happens again, TBH; the more it happens, the deeper the lesson will sync into his (quite thick, IMO) skull. I know this is harsh, but the guy has been effectively warned twice, and I even told him that he neded it in a private conversation a few months back, and publically too, and he's still ignored those warnings and recommendations, as if he's above them. Seems he still hasn't learned that he can't get away with everything he wants to, though it doesn't help that people pay for his crap and practically encourage it.
Now, someone is bound to bring up the fact that this forum doesn't have a terms of service, but a set of rules. Thing is, this site has a quite competent and capable moderator and administrator team who not only know what they're doing but are able to handle pretty much everything thrown at them, and they do it swiftly and precisely enough that whatever it is doesn't last long. Sam, on the other hand, does not. He requires us to report issues to him, which is so problematic I'm sure a five year-old could figure out the problem. Yet he has done absolutely nothing about it. Like I said, this is harsh, it might be rude; but it definitely needs to be said, and there's no nicer way to say this. Until Sam learns the hard facts of running a website of any kind, and of administrating one, and of offloading some duties to others when he needs to, this is going to keep happening, over and over.

Update: apparently my DNS caches are out-of-date, I'll need to refresh them for them to properly update. Or the DNS caches haven't propagated to my location yet. tongue

Oh, I also noticed that, I was thinking by the upload of the national anthem by the almighty United electrons who I don't want to sacrifice 4 of the 9 stanzas that the synths are performing :-)
BTW, I was also dooing that things, but in against it, but I hope that the site is back. It's back now?

synthes cannot perform stanzas, they are lines in a poem, generally blocks of four lines, but anything is possible.

@12, he couldn't implement MFA in any of his games without contacting a web service. And since BGT doesn't exactly support HTTP over SSL.... well, that'd be really easy to sniff secrets and get MFA codes. And let's not forget, of course, that he's selling online illegally too, by not following PCI DSS standards, and most [definitely] by not using SSL.... and storing payment records in text files. He can't even use MySQL.... just sad!

If you want my evidence that he's selling illegally (Sam that is), check out https://www.bigcommerce.com/blog/online-business-laws. While this is for businesses, technically what Sam is doing is considered a "business". And, since he's earning income, he is required to pay income taxes, or his parents are required to file them for him -- period. From The Next:

The Nest wrote:

Most minors are claimed as dependents by a parent or some other person. A dependent minor doesn’t get a personal tax exemption. That tax deduction goes to the person claiming him as a dependent. Unless he has other tax deductions, he will probably owe some federal income tax if he earns over $5,800, as of 2012. For this reason, the IRS stipulates that a dependent minor must file a tax return if he makes over $5,800 or if he has $950 in unearned income. The threshold amount changes from year to year. IRS Publication 17, “Your Federal Income Taxes,” lists current figures.
Non-Dependents
Occasionally a minor isn’t claimed as a dependent. Since non-dependents get personal exemptions, she usually does not owe taxes or have to file a tax return unless she earns at least $9,500 as of 2012. Whether a minor is a dependent or not, she also has to file a tax return and pay Social Security and Medicare taxes on self-employment income of $400 or more, even if her total earnings aren’t otherwise enough to make filing mandatory.
Considerations
When a taxpayer, including a minor, owes uncollected Social Security or Medicare taxes, he must file a tax return and pay the amount due. This is also the case if he received taxable disbursements from a tax-advantaged account such as an IRA. Sometimes it’s worthwhile to file a return voluntarily. A minor may have a refund coming because his employer withheld payroll taxes. The only way to get that refund is to file a tax return.

I can online imagine what the IRS will do when they find out that Sam here hasn't paid his taxes..... uh oh, uh oh...

Hi.
Hmm wait, from the parts I understand from the quote you just posted, he would just need to file a tax report if he earns more than 5800 dollars per ... what is this, month or year?
Even if it is a year, i don't think that sam would earn around 6000 dollars with his products.

Greetings Moritz.

It would be per year, but it would be total earnings, not just earnings from his products.  If he receives money from the government, for example, then he would have to file taxes if his earnings went over $5800.  Included on those tax forms would be the earnings from his products, even if those earnings were only $100.

@ Ethin in post 15.
The PCI standard is only required to uphold, if you're processing payment details (aka card details) on your server which Sam isn't (yah for PayPal).

@20, that doesn't mean he shouldn't be PCI DSS compliant. Just because your not processing payments on your server dosn't mean security should suddenly become irrelevant. And that doesn't exclude his income taxes either.

@21 I wont comment on taxes, since I have no experience in that field.
And kind of: He has no obligation to be PCI DSS compliant, again because he aren't processing card details, and for security a ssl certificate should be just fine.

I think this sounds a bit stupid, but he can't even spell purchase properly! Well, I can't remember if it was purchase or something else, but he, can't, spell. He spells battle baddle, iminnent iminent, center senter, I would advise anyone writing a legitimate purchase form then they should actually SPELL the words correctly, or else it makes them look like an 8 year old kid trying to get money.

When you write a post making fun of someone's spelling, you should probably use a spellchecker yourself. For the record, it's imminent.

So. The official part first. Anyaudio's domain expired, auto renew did not work correctly. The issue is now fixed and I apologize for the downtime.

And now, to deal with a few of these posts, that are again from Ethin, if you guys remember the one who decided he wanted to report me to my DNS provider to take down my domain using audio that I didn't even know existed on the sight. Ethin, according to how I've scene him act in the past and in comparison with how he is acting now, again appears to be very greatly enjoying spreading misinformation for some reason that I can not begin to understand. First. Let me assure you that all communications to and from Paypal are completely secure and encrypted. Payment details are not stored in text documents. I can't use SQL? Well, forgive me for being blunt here but... I'll have you know Ethin, that the very sight you enjoyed taking down so much a year or so ago makes full use of MySQL, and a much later version than 4, at that. About taxes, that is 1, none of your business, and 2, sense it has been brought up, completely handled. I recommend not going around spreading that someone is selling illegally with out proper proof, something which though you may pretend to, you most certainly don't have. Proof of how 1 person acts cannot be learned from reading a rules document, because you have no proof as to weather your victim is following rules or not. For the record I am not celling without parental permission, and I have there full support, taxes and otherwise, with my projects. There is a recording that I am more than happy to share where Ethin is blatantly proud of reporting me to my DNS provider, where he tries time and time again to feed me false information, and generally discredits himself. I will gladly send this privately to anyone who wants it (Just contact me) and if you don't agree with my interpretation please feel free to say so. I wasn't going to share it, but these attacks from Ethin on audiogames.net are getting rather frustrating, especially when many people likely believe them. I would also like to add that anyaudio.net is a website that is very hard to administrate. Especially with it's community growing, it is hard to deal with all copyrighted audio, especially when the administrators do not know all copyrighted material and for all we know, that could have been created by the original uploader. I don't know why you have an issue with a reporting feature, because I'd be willing to bet that at least some of the quick response time of the administrators on audiogames.net is due to players reporting posts... I mean I hope so. Anyway, I've probably just done nothing in this post but stupidly get myself involved in things I shouldn't and cause more flaming, and if I do end up starting a massive flamewar I will gladly take at least partial responsibility, But I will still post this because I want to make 100 percent sure that my side is heard. I of course don't mind people complaining about my products and/or services, but I can not just stand back on the sidelines while misinformation about me is being spread. With that being said, if you don't like my products, no one is forcing you to use them, and if you have things you'd rather use that is perfectly with in your right and cool with me, and if you want to rage about a product/service because it does not live up to your standards then that's perfectly cool as well of course... we all do it. But these attacks about how I handle taxes, attempting to give false information that you have no proof of, etc etc I find to be absolutely not OK, and I think that goes a couple steps farther than complaining and raging.
