Hi there!
Soundpacks are quite easy to install, from what I understand of mush.
If you require an IP address, it is:

Thanks

Hi.
Is there any reason for it's only the Vipmud sound pack which is being updated? Why not work on both sound packs?

Best regards SLJ.

Hi there,
Neither Mush nor Vip packs are supported by the game  itself, though we appreciate their creation.
It is up to the developer of the pack to maintain his or her product.

Lara Stardust: a very good evening to you all. Planetoid harvesting, it has been said, is exactly the same as asteroid harvesting. Boring. well sir, I say otherwise! Indeed, I would be so bold as to say it is completely different, and I shall prove it to you. I have added a feature called anomalous finding. First, comes the introduction of the planetoid drone. this handy little drone comes automatically with your planetoid harvesting gear and is designed to clear blockages. As you are harvesting, sometimes you might hear a crack as something strange gets sucked up by the tubes, this forms a blockage. while not necessarily annoying on its own, 6 of these little bliters can seriously slow down proceedings, and 10 have been known to jam equipment. This is where the planetoid drone comes in. It's this little guys job to help you remove those blockages and bring them up to you. On Science Core HQ is a dragon called Sarah Silver Scale, who will pay you for these items. It is true, 9 out of 10 times they're nothing special, and the reward is barely enough to buy yourself a good nights sleep in a dingy inn somewhere, but there's always that chance, That possibility that the item you find is uncommon. If it is, the reward is much, much higher. Will you find unique items? I bet you will! I hope you enjoy this new twist for planetoid harvesting! As always, feedback is appreciated. Enjoy!

[announcement] from Lara Stardust: hello folks. Just like with planetoid harvesting, I have now attempted to make nebula harvesting quote unquote different. Less boring, one might almost be so bold as to say, unique. But, of course, that is up to you to decide. There is now a new element to nebula harvesting. Or more that is to say, two types of nebula. One, is your usual gas nebula. The other is the new type, bioplasma nebulae. These bioplasma nebulae can not be harvested by simple r-gas, as it is too thick. Instead you must use a set of magnetised rods. these rods are very delicate, they require you to keep them at 0 degrees c. The way it works is you lock a nebula, and extend your rods. Once extended an activated, the collection process is actually automated. Occasionally the rods will hit a hot or a cold spot, requiring you to adjust the temperature with either rod <number> heat or cool. the activity isn't difficult, though be aware that if you do not keep the rods at the right temperature, your ship, will, eventually, take damage. The information is in the ahelp nebula harvesting file and I hope you enjoy. As always, feedback is appreciated through the feedback command

Lara Stardust: hello players! cosmic Rage has always danced a fine line between roleplay encouraged, and roleplay enforced. We don't really fit into either category, we tend to hover between each one. Cosmic Rage also does something else, however, and that is try to cater to as many people as possible. as such, when you finish character generation, you must now make a choice between either roleplay intense, where all ooc features of the game are disabled, rp relaxed where all ooc features excluding the ooc channel are turned off, or socialiser where all ooc channels are on. Obviously, you can toggle them on and off at your own free will. But hopefully, this will start Cosmic Rage on the path to being able to provide more roleplay serious people of the community, while simultaneously making shy people feel welcome. I hope you enjoy.

This is a very great new feature... I think this will turn out to be more newbie friendly. Maybe the description could say the following:
Choose relaxed RP if you are new to muds and wanna explore all the socialized features when you feel ready to do so.

Best regards SLJ.

Cosmic Rage brings Easter!
[announcement] from Lara Stardust: There once were a game called cosmic, staffed by a company that were full of rage! They were all of a varying age, but they all were cut of the same page. It came to the season of Easter and really, I can't write poetry. So lets go with this. The staff of Cosmic Rage, a bunch of rowdy louts, have set up an island, on the planet of earth, at the coordinates of 23 23. If you get on a boat, take a ride over there, you will find some bunnies! You can pet and tame, you can chat and play, and oops, I'm rhyming again. So I say, with a cheer and a yay let this Easter event begin. There are several things to do, which I shall list just in two, so let the great fun begin! First the island. You can tame non-donator pet bunnies, for your cute and cuddly amusement. Upon this island is an oak. If you enter the oak, you can see how many bunnies you can catch in a limited time. Gain money for each bunny you catch! You can also buy Easter eggs upon this island, too! 2. Quest! A quest! and not the same as last year either. Upon the island, are five Easter bunnies, to which you can ask a quest, figure out the planet, go find out the egg, and see if you can beat the challenge! The challenge will either be a math game or a word puzzle, and will be different for each player, so no cheating! Each person who beats the challenge will receive a $10 bonus of donator cash. All winners will be stored and one will be picked  at random at the end of the event, and they will receive an extra $50 All prizes will be given out at the end of the event. This event will run until Saturday the 7th of April. So play, pay, enjoy and have fun. And a very good Easter to you all!

Hi all. Are their plans to create a tintin++ soundtrack for those who love Mac and games and the same time? I know, first is the Mush-client pack, which I'd also like because I really don't like how VIP MUD does the demo thing with a huge $30, $10 more than a hero's call, price tag. I'm also pretty surprised that people still make sound packs for VIP Mud, since Mush-client is both free and probably more extensible. Also, one can just bundle Mush-client into their sound pack, to make a portable app, already setup and such.
Alternatively, is the game playable without a sound pack? Can a player still get as much out of the game, less spam, filters, less combat text, all that, without a pack? Being a realist, I'm sure this'll be VIP-Mud first forever, and Mush-Z and others will just have basic packs.

A mush pack did exist, its a very sort of half-baked affair with a lot of excess and unneeded code that seems to have been lifted from somewhere else and just planted there. It has some issues, and when I was playing, I was going to clean it up and fix it up, but I stopped playing so...

Some of the issues are that all the triggers that it uses are wildcard triggers. This creates issues where the triggers were firing off at inappropriate times. I had converted several of them to regular expressions to fix this. Also the code to initialize the pack is just inordinately complex and not necessary, all that can be done in an external script file in like 4 lines. I was going to fix the volume not saving bug, and so forth.

Spacemoos are not designed to be played without soundpacks. Do not atempt this unless you have some usable vision and can read very quickly.

Take care, it's a desert out there.

I beg to differ on sound packs, Flux has never had any! We rely on descriptions on rooms and objects. In order to save bandwidth, not every object spews long descriptions, unless you look at it.  It really is about design goals, and how things are set up.

That being said, different people like different things, and some will love a MUD that others hate for personal preference reasons.

Hi,
I’m having a few problems with vip mud. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to connect, all i’m seeing is a list of chars which for some reason has fredd Valhalla, no idea what that’s about. Besides that all i’m seeing is an option to add or remove chars, no option to connect anywhere. Anyone know how to actually connect?

2018-04-10 23:58:58

Sorry, centauri. I mean space moos in the style of CR, miriani etc. Flux is a different kind of game altogether. Speaking of flux, I should really get back into it!

Take care, it's a desert out there.

Yeah, pretty bad for Mac users, or those who don't want to just use demoware all the time. Ah well, I suppose I'll get VIP MUD and try it out for 30 days, but once that time is over, as a way of protesting, I'm deleting VIP MUD and won't come back to the game until a Mushclient/Tintin pack is created. Sure, the game doesn't directly endorse a certain pack, but it doesn't help matters by making a pack for a free client for their free service, either.

@543
Yer welcome anytime, of course, you brought me 100s a few years ago. and we solved many player issues because of the blindie flood that ensued!

Okay, I've gotten signed up. I'm a, um, half-dragon, although I can't remember the race right now although it sounds Japanese. Anyways, my name there is Motalumo, and wow OneCore speech pronounces it right, whereas Eloquence fails to be Eloquent in my simple Latin construction. Anyways, I'm not totally sure if I'd be able to RP a militaristic race, and its my fault that I chose that race, and I'm happy with whatever I get from the game. I love the coordinate system in CR, because it makes things feel so realistic. I also love having rose-red scales, a great allusion to my favorite, and most life-changing series by Stephen King, which shocked me into what awareness I have today. So yeah, find Motalumo and some one please tell me how to thank all those people giving me millions of credits per day, lol.

Hi.
I have a little problem with connecting to the mud, when I type the server info and the port and want to connect, VIP mud throws an error saying the specified service name is invalid.
Any ideas what the problem there is?

Greetings Moritz.
