Hello.

for those who are using the Xbox One.
someone can imformar me about the following:

What are the countries that the narrator is available.
I'm from portugal and I would like to know if the Xbox One brings support for the narrator in portugal or brazil.
I tried to find this info on microsoft accessibility site, but without success.
in the past these 2 countries were out the list ...
but now I don't know if more countries have been added.
Please any of you can give me an updated list of supported countries with narrator on Xbox One?

thank you!
cheers.

Narrator is available in all countries on Xbox One. PlayStation four has narrator, but it does not really work and is only available in the United States.

Hopefully, we'll get a fully accessible open world game someday.

Sorry, but you are wrong.

Narrator does not have full support for all countries.

example:
Narrator does not have full support for portugal.

Hi,

As far as i know, you can set the regional settings onto portugal, but you have to set the system language to us america. With those settings the system will be located in portugal, but the language will be english and hte narator will work just fine.

Hi Pelantas.
Yes, this seems to be the only solution ...
but I'm not going to spend money on an Xbox to have a big mess on my hands.
It's a big disappointment, microsoft doesn't give full support for most countries.

I have been waiting for this for a long time.
how much longer we have to wait?
microsoft has been doing a great work, but sometimes I feel discriminated.
thank you friend.
good help.
cheers.

Hi.
You should be glad that there is a console which offers a full screenreader in english. You should be glad that this console is soled world wide, and not just in the US. More languages has already been added to Narrator on the XBox, and I think more are coming in the future. Take it or leave it. It's the only option you have.
Do you wanna know what I'll call discrimination? The way Sony are taking care of accessibility for blind people. They make some quite good accessibility features, which they release world wide. Then, they make a very basic screenreader, but only release it in the US, and block all other people from using it, by only letting the screenreader work if you have the hardware which is in the US models of the Playstation. I could understand if they did that with all the accessibility settings, but no. They are only doing that against blind people, but allowing all other types of disabled people to enjoy the accessibility features they need. When contacting Sony about this issue, your Playstation support in your country won't give you support or take any requests regarding to the screenreader, because it's not supported in your country. If you contact the US support, they won't support you simply because you are not from the US.
Well, this is a great way to say that blind people are welcome, or not... smile It's easy to tell what Sony thinks about blind people...

Best regards SLJ.

@4
Actually I've heard this works for other regions too.  If you set it to any language currently supported by Narrator, I'd guess, you can set it to your region and it should work fine as well.

@6
Though a little heavy-handed, your frustration is not unjustified.

To everyone in this topic asking/wondering about Narrator, I've heard that more languages are coming, though no word as to what ones.

I've also asked for a specific list but I've been told there isn't one.  Hopefully this is rectified in the future.

I could imagine that all languages which are supported on the pc will come to the XBox as well.

Best regards SLJ.
