hi,
I am using a version of utorrent to download torrents. However, it won't download torrents who's creators set the pieces over 32 mb. Does anyone know of an accessible torrent client that does not have this limitation.
Edit: it appears deluge doesn't. Is it accessible? The site says it has a web UI.

uTorrent's the only client I've ever got working with speech.

PicoTorrent is quite usable.

I'm not sure I'd describe that particularly as a limitation with uTorrent, but rather an unusual circumstance to have torrents with pieces that big.

A lot of the time though, at least for me, its what will they accept. I am very skeptical of public trackers, and I am on a few private ones, probably not anymore since I've not torrented in well over a year, but they have an allowed clients list, so if you're on private trackers, you have to abide by that or at the least, it will never start downloading, or at most, you'll get banned, depending on how strict they are.

hi,
I am aware of FDM. However, do the other clients here described have the limitation of pieces. Honestly I have no idea why that was done, but oh well.

I have downloaded torrents over 32 mb with fdm

hi,
I meant the size of the pieces in the torrent, not the size of the torrent. I have downloaded 20-40 gb torrents before with utorrent, and still it won't except 64 mb pieces.

i use bit torrent with no limits so far and it\s quite accessible.
of corse if any of you know a faster client and something that\s more accessible than bit torrent i would be happy to know about it

Don't know about faster, but uTorrent 3.1 is fully accessible. Any higher and it becomes less so.

@12: I've used 3.2.2 and had no problems. You're right, though, 3.3 and up is pretty much a lost cause.

the later versions hog RAM like nothing I've ever seen. Also, why so large pieces in the torrent.

I've heard that bit comet is good, but haven't tried it lately.

The newer version of uTorrent installs something called web companion, but I've never noticed anything with 3.1. I must have missed 3.2. I tried the latest version 3.5  earlier to see if it had improved its accessibility, but it hadn't.  The installer isn't as accessible as it used to be, though it's still doable, but the problem of it not announcing file names just sizes as you arrow down the list is still there for both jaws and NVDA. God knows what they did. It's probably fixable as you can access the names with the jaws cursor and screen review, but why bother when 3.1 is still doing everything necessary without installing extra crap and displaying some sort of ads that are meaningless to blind people and just make tabbing around more difficult. And Web Companion had a pretty inaccessible uninstall too.

hi,
bitcommet was accessible about 10 years ago. Is it still accessible?

i don't know but bit torrent is still the best bet i think. it works for checking torrent statuses and remove it and all that shit, although it doesn't work when you want to just download indivisual pieces

2018-02-14 16:13:46

Hi,
enes, I used to use bitcommet as my main torrent client for quite a while, and it was more or less accessible with the use of jaws curser at a few points, but havent used it in a while because the private tracker I use doesnt allow using bitcomet.

have you tried Qtorrent yet? that as far as I tried it was accessible, a few issues but still usable. I am unsure about your pieces problem though,as I have not come across such torrents yet.
hth.

2018-02-15 03:37:03

I have the 3.1 installer. If you can't find it on one of those old versions sites, let me know and I'll send you a dropbox link.

Thanks for the link gamesmaster, but all I get are sponsored links to pages that can't be displayed where the actual download links should be.

I'll just check some other old apps web sites.
