So, markdown is awesome for writing and editing things like articles, I actually like its syntax for just about everything, and I was wondering if there is a way we could get markdown support.

I like Markdown myself. I know there was a discussion about this very thing over at http://punbb.informer.com/forums/topic/ … -markdown, but whether it's possible....
