Well I'm afraid for this being the season of good will and shopping I'm not feeling jolly right now.
I just finished a charity concert  only to come back to no less than 37 spambots posting in the registration forum, all of whom needed to be manually banned and have their single post deleted by me!

So, I'm not exactly feeling full of Christmas spirit right now, especially if your a spambot! big_smile.

the concert on the other hand did do well, we sang a duette version of walking in the air which rocked, as well as a range of stuff from Panis Angelicus going to Let it go from Frozen, a couple of things from musicals and crimbo carrols, so not too bad, people seemed to enjoy what we did anyway, though now me is feeling a bit knackered!

I'll get back to everyone soon, but in the mean time, have fun this December.

For myself, I have been sick four times in the last six weeks!
I didn't get sick four times in four years when I was a kid.
Although my physical health is not great right now, I am in the Christmas spirit and feeling great.

I recently won a contest where the prize was ten Audible books of my choosing, and that puts anybody in a great mood.
Meanwhile, just looking at different Muds, and trying to get healthy and stay that way.

I've been feeling rather better for a few days off, also we now have a curtain over our none useful front door which helps keep the heat in quite a lot. Mrs. Dark and I have started a very mammoth reread of Brandon Sanderson's stormlight series between  since the third book has just come out but it's been quite a while since either of us read the first two. Given the size of the books it'll likely take a hell of a long time, on the other hand we got through Hobb's fool's quest series in surprisingly short order.

Other than that not too much to report apart from playing lots of games. We have another charity concert this friday which hopefully will go a little more smoothly, and then we're singing at a friends' christmas carol service  in the next week. Since we both need to work on our vocal performance this is a good thing.

Unfortunately I do have some big bills, since my quad speakers just died (well I have had them since 2004), and I need some more as this desktop is the main thing Mrs. Dark and I do music and films and such on, also I still! need to look at getting another Iphone since I'm now missing phone calls due to my Iphone not being very mobile, plus of course Ios 11 will likely slow everything up on an Iphone 5 even further, though whether I would still bother with a new phone if mine weren't disbatteried I'm not sure.

yo all.
So well now that school is going neer to ending it's quite boring, taking that now most lazy students that go with me in class and I should imagine almost all peupiles in the country are currently doing somethings witch they should have done ages ago. So I have again tried to get back to my programming life, and it seems that I am currently practicly rocking with bgt but I am afrade that python is going a little bit to slow because bgt and python are two completely different languages, offcorse they have somethings in comun but there are allot of things witch need to be renembered. An other problem in python is that for some reason it won't work with my visual C++ redistributable so some packages witch require it won't work. Also btw< I have made a little twitter bot witch every 10 minutes pops up a mood style of messages witch are completely random. For example it can say that it's sad because it just noticed a newly releaced game, though can he really even notice anything, not to menschen games and new games so that's hardly possible but  who cares. big_smile

About everything else, well today was some kind of Celebration of goodness knows what, so I was invited, including a few other friends from my past school for the blind. I personally didn't much enjoy it, not that it was bad but it was just boring, though Now when I think of it everything is better then 4 ultraboring school classes.
So I am now planning again to turn back to sound design and music production, though I haven't yet managed to find good software nor any of the mml guides make the least sense. SO basicly I am stuck between school, gaming, posting on this forum, and a attempt of sound design.
And btw, I don't know is it intentional but you have typed november instead of december in your first message, haha.

Lol Big gun, thanks  letting me know about the month mistake in the first post which I've now fixed, that is what happens when you write monthly chat topics while tired.
Sorry your school is so dull, even the reunion parts of it.

Well the concert today wasn't too bad, though a lot of the audience were eldily and not extremely well, still I think they enjoyed it (one man, who was clearly very unwell sang along with everything, which makes us pleased).

When we got back we were both pretty tired, and after some coffee, balies and chocolate cookies I proceeded to crash, which is probbably not a great thing to do at six pm but hay.

books wise, I'm still alternating between reading Sanderson's Stormlight archive with my lady, with plans to go on to the third book when we've got through the first two and continuing with George r r martin's book of short stories. One of them succeeded in making me cry  which shows it was a good story since that doesn't happen often and only with extremely! well written stuff.

Gaming wise I've been trying various things. One thing which surprised me recently is the flexible survival mud.
I tried the single player game a few months ago to see  I could now cope with it being as Mrs. Dark has dealt with my genophobia, and actually found if you can get over the rather overthetop sexual stuff, there is a pretty good rpg in there.

I initially tried the mud  because I wanted to add some info to the flexible survival wiki and the only way was to have a character on the mud, then found the mud, like the single player game is pretty awesome with a really nice community and probably the most unique combat i've ever seen in a mud game, hell it's the only mud I know with truly turn based combat, and even partly a browser game element that you can play while idle which is cool.

Indeed, even given the theme of the mud and the fact that some people do engage in sexuallly explicit roleplay, I have been amazed at how nice the community have proved to be.

A very odd discovery indeed, and also nice to know my genophobia hasn't made me miss out on a good game.


I've also been playing a bit of cosmic rage and debating whether to start a factory or not, though I'm tempted to wait until I've leveled far enough to be able to access planet chunks and thus get more access to harvested resources, still we'll see, since the idea of owning my own factory does rather appeal to me and I very much want to try the crafting out in the game.

I'm also debating having another bash at avalon with what Mirage said about the character generation process, since I know there is a very awesome game in there if I can get past the initial hurdles, and of course there are plenty of good audiogames kicking around as per usual, many of which need db pages, so lots to keep me busy.

Well Crimbo is a busy time for musicians.
We were singing last night at someone's carol service, which also included some rather amusing christmas anicdotes and songs.

one of my favourite involved  the parents of two mischief making brothers, eight and ten years old respectively.
The brothers kept on playing tricks on people and and generally causing havoc, and the parents  started to despair of sorting them out.

Then a new priest came to town to take over at the church.
The parents heard how the new priest had once been the headmaster of a boy's school, and had a reputation as a strict disciplinarian who was very good at sorting out naughty boys, so they asked if he'd talk to the brothers.
The priest said he would, but that it would be better if he talked to them one at a time.

the younger brother, the eight year old went in first. The priest met him at the door, stood over him, shook his finger in the boy's face and said very sternly "Where is god?"
The boy looked up. The priest repeated in an even harsher tone "Where is god!"

The priest then bent down and grabbed the boy by the collar, then said in a very grim voice "looking right into the boy's face where! is! God!"
Whereupon the boy birst into tears and ran for the door.

running home, he went and hid in the closet and was joined there by his elder brother. "What's wrong?" the elder brother asked.
the younger boy turned to him and said "we're in real trouble now, god's gone missing and they think we did it!" big_smile.

Okay funny stories aside, the service was actually rather lovely, which was doubly nice given that yesterday morning when trying to get a few of the articles I need to hopefully finally! finish my Phd (which I need to start working on again next year), the library proved to be completely arsy and probably will require me to run in and be belligerent at them in person, which will be quite irritating, since it's hard enough to work on the dam thing now.

On the other hand we had a lovely day today, trotting out to look at crimbo decorations with my parents (we now have quite a wonderful light up star in our living room).

To sellebrate my brother and his girlfriend getting engaged, Mrs. Dark and I want to take them out for a meal, and to cellebrate the  disney corporation wanting to make even more money, he suggested we all go and see the last Jedi, though being as Mrs. Dark has refused to watch force awakens up to now (she was ensensed when she heard about Han solo), it'll be interesting, indeed we're probably going to watch Starwars 7 tonight.

mrs. Dark has promised physical violence if anything happens to Luke skywalker in the next film so it should be interesting.

Games wise, I've again been surprised at just how addictive flexible survival has proved, especially since you don't even have to log in to the mud but can just pull up the web page and spend your patrol points battling or doing social actions to advance your  character quickly (something I wish other web games had), though I've taken a little time out from that to play a few other games such as treasure islands and crazy party.

so things are good over here, if rather cold right now big_smile.

Not much has been happening in my neck of the woods over here. The only major thing that's happened is that it *is* now *cold*! And it gets really, really cold! I'm currently playing CR and am travelling with my clan out into deep space so we can determine where to put our industrial plant. I'm also working on a game with a few other individuals (we're all contributing, so no one gets an ultimate decision over how the game works), written in Python. It's turned out to be absolutely amazing and we're nowhere finished with it!
Right now I'm home for Christmas though don't know what I want. It's that difficult situation where I've already got everything I need and want right now. (I'd love to get out of this contract I foolishly signed up to, but, of course, I can't cancel it; no, I have to either pay all of it *now* or pay it off slowly. Fuck Unity!)
Other than that, college is great, and I've been having fun!

@Jaseoffire, Welcome to monthly chat. Clok is awesome, and I'm always impressed at people who can  program, though python seems a little more logical than most languages I've seen, of course since my level of programming is something close to zilcho that isn't saying much big_smile.

Well a lot happening over here as people will gather from the news. My amazon Echo dot has been hanging around for nearly a year after my brother bought it for Mrs. Dark and I last christmas. I've finally! got the thing out and am using it, and actually have found some uses for it, though wrenting music from Amazon (who seem to specialise mostly in pop crap anyway), probably won't be one of them, though I was pleased I could get Amazon's download software to work, which means I can buy mp3 stuff as I'd much prefer to do.

I might consider amazon prime, though at £79 a year, or $105 a year it's pretty steep, still I'm interested in their streaming service since I like the idea of being able to watch series on demand and that is still less than the tv license costs over here, ---- although
I haven't had a tv license in years just bought dvds and that generally does me fine big_smile.

Anyway, the games and other functions are proving handy, particularly to do whilst washing up, and because Mrs. Dark is a fan of trivia games.
We had a hilarious episode yesterday where we were playing the catagories game with y, and the computer was just not! picking up what Mrs. Dark said, or me for that matter, eg we were saying "christmas Yams" and it said "hams does not start with y"
Finally i got pissed and said "christmas your an idiot!" Whereupon Alexa chimed up with "correct!" big_smile.

Of course it's not just playing around with my amazon, especially not this time of year.
On tuesday we went christmas shopping and have got some lovely things, including two engraved glasses for my brother and his Girlfriend who have just got engaged showing a dragon and a unicorn, as that is what they're having on their engagement rings.
I'm also pleased because finally! I've found a nice cafe to stop into while I take reever for a walk which does the most amazing cakes including chocolate cheese cake, and chocolate coke gatteaux (and you did see that right, Coke as in coca-cola).

Unfortunately, crimbo shopping is still not complete, and some things need freighting up to Durham to friends we have up there, plus we still need  surround sound speakers for my desktop which also doubles as our main music center, mrs. Dark needs her laptop upgrading to windows 10 and I need  a new Iphone.

So lots of stuff going on right now, though  I'm in a pretty good humour.

When not playing with my amazon, i've been giving some of the breakerbox games a try, notably grif, and also continuing flexible survival. I do love the fact you can use the web to do social actions or battle without starting the mud, it's a great way to continue your progress when you don't want a full on gaming session.
i do however need to also  get working on the db, as it's sort of been an unspoken agnet tradition that we have a mondo update on christmas eve.

Oh, and Mrs. Dark and I did! watch the force awakens, which she predictably thought was okay right up until Han solo decided to uphold his wife's family tradition by having  disasterous family reunion atop a catwalk  a light saber big_smile.

She was not pleased.
She agreed with me the film wasn't bad but felt extremely flat, though now we can go and see the last  later. on.

Oh, and we're still! continuing with our cooperative reading of way of kings, by Brandon Sanderson, albeit we've not read much for a while.

Nothing much in my life, the school was sooo boring in the last week, but now I have hollyday.
I do not know what do I want for Christmas, everithing from a rastbery pi to an ipod or something like that, but I am not sure.

@Angel, glad your liking th topic. If you've not got an Ios device I can say there is a lot of good stuff on Iphone gaming wise, and in terms of useful aps, I've just bought an Iphone 8 myself which should be turning up this week.
@Maria  Airik is a great game, though I don't know about purchcies, as I said in the other topic I used the "return to merchant" button after making the payment, so maybe check your paypal history?
Hope you get it running and enjoy the game.

For myself thigns are busy as heck. As people will see from the news we have a new staff member, an onrunning competition and yet more db updates, plus of course more stuff in the new releases room. I'm continuing my quest up the amazon to see what is available on the echo, and! I've now got amazon prime.
Actually yesterday was a bit appauling for how much cash I spent given that I bought an Iphone 8, and! a satnav system as a present for a friend of mine (the driving kind), I also used Amazon  prime to buy several cds and mp3  downloads my lady has been looking for, so it's already proving worth it, though methinks I need to stop now before my bank ruptures :d.

This afternoon we're gointg  going to a Christingle service which is something I've not done for years, but I'd love to show Mrs. Dark, plus of course as it is Christmas and supposedly a christian festival I do feel a bit bad if I don't do some sort of christian worship, especially since God and I are on slightly less unfriendly terms than we used to be these days big_smile.
So mucho busy stuff at the moment.
I'm also reading the awesome book the twelve doctors of christmas, which is exactly what it sounds like, twelve dr. who stories, one for each doctor all with a christmas theme.
I'm not sure about the nw female doctor though, not because I don't like the idea of a woman as the doctor, but more because I don't like the way they're written any female characters recently, since basically steven Mofat only has one! female character he writes, an over flirty, self confident actually quite annoying woman, and the idea of the doctor being  like that it's terrible.

Actually I'm sorry we can't  have an awesome, grand older lady as the doctor, someone like Judy Dench or Maggy smith, someone with real gravitas, but hay, I might even be surprised (at least Clara is gone).

christmas will probably be quiet given that my brother and his now fiance are with her parents in essix, though we're going to do an extra christmas later, however the busy won't stop since I need to organise both a new set of surround sound speakers for my pc, and d sadly a trip to Pensylvania since my lady's dad is seriously ill and likely to not be with us for too long.
Oh, and on a more frivolous note, we have voice acting to do, which will be awesome.

Hey ya you chatty people, a, I have to admit it myself, late merry christmas to all of you.
I hope your day was fine and you received everything you wanted xD.
Currently the situation is quite relaxed over here, the christmas stress is over and now the preparations for new years eve begin.
This year though, I will not party with my family, I will visit a friend of mine in ireland and start the new year with her and her family.
Well, and when the new year begins, the first quite big project will take place, we are planning a three to five day trail ride through the cuntryside of ireland. This means that we will be on horse back for possibly 6 to 8 hours a day and sleep at already booked locations where the horses can be stabled as well, or we are just camping next to a village or city, tents and sleeping bags are included.
We will be 4 people, me the only blind one xD.
This is actually my first trail ride and I am super excited and jittery already xD.
I hope you will also have a cool start into 2018.
And now I should possibly go to sleep because it's already around 5:08 AM over here.

@Maria, no idea on that i'm afraid at the second, i'd suggest try to contact Jyro directly. @Angel, cool. Personally I wouldn't consider an Ipod being as I  find Itunes media management and filing to  so much of a disaster I utterly abandoned it and now just use my victor stream innstead.

I might consider an Ipad, accept that I actually need a phone for, well, phony things like phoning people and sending them texts, and keeping contacts, especially when my lady and I are out together.

So the plan currently is that I'll get the Iphone 8 which I ordered from Apple and will then have to sort out with games etc (and probably do some mondo db updates since I've not added anything Iphone wise for a while), then my mum will get my Iphone 5 rebatterified and use it.
She isn't bothered about games etc, but does want the facetime calls and such, so it should sute her.

@Simba that is really awesome. I went cycling in ireland a few years ago, going about 50 miles a day, which was amazing but very tiring, though luckily we stayed in a very nice boarding house and didn't have to camp. My lady will be especially jealous since she loves horses.

For me Christmas was very nice if quiet. Ltos of listening to carols (especially guessing the nation's top carol on classic fm), as well as playing  rather fun trivia games on the Alexa with my parents.
we had the expected crimbo dinner, and my lady loved her Ais sidai ring and green aja pendent that I got her. She's a huge wheel  time fan, so I thought she'd love those, and they were ordered back in November. actually she scared eveyone by letting out a very high pitch, and extremely Soprano squeeeee of pleasure which was sort of amusing in a scary way big_smile. Actually I've been making out that I hadn't got her anything, but I had to back peddle a bit on christmas eve when she was quite disappointed and admitted that actually yes, I had got her a present big_smile.

For me, i got some cds I wanted, icnluding the new Karl Jenkins Adiemus, and a rather awesome onesie with a dragon tale and teeth.
i've wanted something for a while since my lady is inclined to sit around in fluffy pajamas on days when we don't have to go anywhere and I liked the idea of joining her, but doing so while dressed as a dragon will rock big_smile.

My parents also gave me a hundred quid to pay for some of the things I have been not getting myself due to us being short of cash, which was extremely nice of them, and likely means I will! be able to try a few more games on my Iphone, as well as treat myself to Hero's call,echoes of Livia and other such fun new releases for 2018.

I got a new portable router with a sim with more internet for when I am at the country, like now, but now I am using the old one cause I got it today and it is now at my home.
I am not sure what my aunt got for me, cause she gets something for me every year, like last year when I got a pair of wireless headphones from her.

@Simba, my lady would love that, she used to ride a lot but misses it.
Unfortunately though right now we returned to find a miner disaster.

We get to our now lovely and quite homy little house, full of odd fantasy statues etc. We sit down for a cup of tea while my parents wander off for a post christmas break. Suddenly we hear what sounds like a really hefty rain storm, and when we investigate we find a very tropical nicely warm rain descending from the living room ceiling.

Despite much running around and most Hitch hiker screams of "towels! where are the towels!" and "turn the boiler off!" we were actually lucky, since said deluge is fortunately slap bang in the middle of the living room, nicely away from the table with my desktop, the electric fire, the cupboard full of dvds, or indeed the leather sofa or quite beautiful ebony book shelf full of interesting memorabilia.

Less fortunately there is me frantically turning the handle of what I believe to be the stop cock, only for the thing to, ---- well quite literally cock up being as the water didn't stop.

I then ring my dad who knows far more about internal plumming than I do, and he tells me where to switch off the water to the boiler.

less fortunately, the number I had in my contacts for the landlord proceeded not to work, and having forcefully shut down my desktop at the first drip (despite it being in the middle of the latest windows 10 update), finding the man's number was rather interesting, and involved first trying to call my parents to discover they don't have the number, next trying to phone the estate agents, only to find they're not at work today, and finally! being rescued by my desktop booting up so I  check the document where I right down people's numbers!

Just to make the situation even bizarrer, our land lord (who actually is a terribly nice chap), turns out to be at a funeral! yes a funeral!
(mrs. Dark was a bit disturbed when i said "my respects to womever"


Fortunately, our land lord showed up and called an immergency plummer, as well as drilling a hole in the cieling to help water flow and to let the plummer get at the pipes.
On a less good note, the plummer still! hasn't appeared and we still! have water leaking through the roof, though our land lord has been kind enough to lend us three very powerful fan heaters so we're not freezing.

Hi.
Oh dear dark, let's not hope that the water already entered the walls of your home, the problem is that when for example a pipe breaks, the water coming out might drip into the walls and rot them from the inside, making them unstable and a possible danger when they come down.
We had that problem in our old house, we needed to have some big fan active trying to get the water out of the walls or something like that, I don't honestly remember how that went.
On a other note, something a bit more enlightening and humorous.
The friend of my sister is also a plummer, currently working in the company of his dad.
So they were called up by a customer because he had a slight ice problem as he said.
Well, the big problem was that he went on his yearly winter hollydays and turned of the heating. Normal, right? Agreed, but he just didnt turn off the heaters in the rooms, but also the general heating keeping the house at a basic warm temperature to not cause freezing and ice problems at the house.
So, this one was also turned off. During the two weeks while he was gone, the pipes in the walls started to freze up and they finally cracked, making all the water flow out of different cracks in the walls. Because it was so cold, the water instandly froze.
I was with the friend at that house. Imagine a normal bathtup,  but this one was filled with a solid block of ice till the top. From the fosset you could still see a thin tube of ice coming down and like a spear, stabbing into the solid ice block, the freaking jet of water coming from the fosset froze in the midsd of flowing.
In the kitchen, a glass was standing on the table where the person had put a fork into before he went away, possibly forgot it there, but there was still some water left in there. I tryed it myself, getting the fork out of the glass was not possible anymore, it was frozen shut!
So, don't worry dark, you're not the only one whom these mishaps happen too.

Hi.
For me, this month has been great so far. I just got myself a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. I got it because I wanted to use it to play retro games on it, thanks to a version of Raspbian Jessie known as RetroPie, allowing me to play games from many different systems. Got it because I was sick and tired of hunting down a Super NES Classic Edition, Nintendo's mini version of the SNES that has 21 built-in games on it, since it, like the NES Classic Edition that followed last year, sold out like mad, since everybody wanted one, and we didn't want to pay the insane prices that were charged by scalpers online. So, even though I already have an NES mini in the house, it doesn't hurt to have another retro console in the house too.

this month is going good for me, i had a great christmas, i got a new microphone, and some  pajamas and some gift cards and chocolate peanuts, my brother and his girl friend, and her son came in to town. and we went bowling, i love to bowl. weather if its ten pin allie on my computer, or bowling from the blind fold searys. on IOS. i also checked out the go fish game on rs games, too.

Well, a somewhat belated Merry Christmas to all! I had a rather typical Christmas in that my folks gave me cash and an Amazon gift card, my brother gave me a Publix gift card, Publix is a grocery store chain in the southeastern US, and in my stocking I got two small bottles of Jim Beam Kentucky straight bourbon wiskey, each bottle has enough for one or two drinks.
