Audazzle have just launched a new Kickstarter for a product called Aloniverse S1D1.
As I understand the description on the Kickstarter page, this is a deck of cards where you can make your own games and rules. Other than that, I find it difficult to fully get what it is about. I hope you who like card games more than me are able to get more out of this...

Someone shared the Kickstarter campaign on the Audiogames.net Facebook site.
Here is a quite important comment regarding accessibility for blind people, which I'm currently not sure on what to think about:
For completely blind players we decided to sell braille decks with or without sleeves as an optional extra. Again, this isn't part of this campaign.
So... Where comes the accessibility, if this is not a part of this campaign? Why should I, as a blind gamer then donate to this?
The same company had a Kickstarter campaign back in 2015, but I'm not sure what came out of this...

Hi SLJ,
Thanks for sharing this here.

the sleeves are an optional extra.
if people request braille, we currently have to do it by hand, however we are looking into other ways of doing this. smile

Hi.
Thanks for your reply. I understood it like Braille and other blindness accessibility was an extra thing which might cost more than the original cards. But I hope to be wrong. smile

bit late to the party, and the project never got funded or promoted.

Nevertheless I'm happy and proud of the team to say that we made the deck and the app anyhow.

It''s fair to say at this stage we are in Alpha with the app and Beta with the deck.

Developing games that are inclusive and accessible is really hard work.

But email me with your phone number and I will phone you to discuss (within 72hrs of this post... only)

The beta deck come with an alpha app that reads the cards using augmented reality markers, so Braille is not needed, it is/was an option.

The Deck is not a game, its a reason to get together and make / play games. S1 means series 1, D1 means deck 1.

Adding Braille to the cards is very time consuming (ask Dan) and there are no printers willing to do it for free (ask Andy... ) even RNIB wanted to charge us a very large amount of money that would of meant retail prices was over £30.00 . Not sure its fair to expect companies huge or tiny companies to give things to us.

On a more progressive note, If you (or anyone else reading this) want to be involved in the development of this deck (that would be really helpful and appreciated).

We have a handful of Braille copies left and about 20 non braille copies left. I'm currently working on using the cards and phones to participate in a multiplayer RPG style game.

I've extended the current prototyping to make it possible for multiple players to play games with the cards even when they are not in the same room or same place. (as long as they each have a deck).

@9th Duke of SLJ , TO BE CLEAR We never had any intention to charge for the card reader app (which renders the non braille version accessible anyhow), I think the campaign just wanted to say that backers weren't funding the cost of the accessibility. Perhaps that caused you confusion.

Not advertising ... details on our website, add a note like "urfx sent you"

p.s. Braille version costs less because you'll be eligible for free postage.

hopefully between Dan and I we have covered the issues
