Hello!
I plan to begin with developing games, but first I need to know a

couple of things.
1. What tool should I use? I have both visual basic 6.0

and visual studio.net 2003.

2. I would like to know what games you guys

would like to see on the market, so I know what I shall develop.

I'm

planning to try to make a hockey game at the moment.
Should this be

interesting?

hello

criss,

both vb6 and .net are fine , now what's your experionce with

them?

Okay, this might be jumping in on the wrong topic at the wrong time, but I

think this is sort of like the question and there are already two topics

like it. Anyway, I was wondering if there were any free/cheap engines where

you can make games with little to no programming knowledge.
Sorry for the

introuble,

I know

there has been game creation software available for the mainstream, but the

results have been little more than something to play around with when

you're bored. I'm not aware of any accessible equivelant.

you

can pay David greenwould <www.gmagames.com> for his enjen, how ever,
you'll

have to pay him for each game you sell that uses the enjen

Do you

mind if I ask what the deal is there? I mean do you just enter data files

for the engine to use, or would you use as a base to code from? I can't

imagine him letting the source loose, but I don't know exactly how flexible

the engine is.

The engine is way too expensive to just experiment with, but using my

advanced awesomeness I've gathered that there is a scripting language for

it so even though your games are practically restricted to pseudo-3d

movement and single playerness you can add interesting thigns like triggers

which do something when you kill a specific enemy or press a button.  Of

course killing is just the default thing - you can probably pretend that

you're getting rid of some magical evil or something which is represented

by a monster in the engine.  I don't think the source comes with it - you

have to pay yearly for upgrades and support.

Hello!
Yes I know that the engine is very expensive. Around 2,000 dollars

or something.
I thought of buyig it some time ago, but that was only until

I heard the price.
There is also a game engine at www.inspiredcode.net, But

I think that it too is only a play around engine.
This is because if you do

any game with it you can't do an exe file of it as far as I know, and since

ou can't do that you'l need to use the engine to run the game you have

reated.
So, the people that buys your game will have to buy the engine as

well, and you will have to make the sourcecode public since I haven't found

a way to compile he game in an form.

I haven' seen any topics/questions

like this one before as I'm quite new to this new audio games forum. so can

you please redirect me to these?
I'm going a programmer course in visual

studio.net2003 at the moment, and I want to create some exciting

game.

So, please tell me what games you will find

interesting.

hello

cris
dont know where you herd it ,but the enjen is defenatly not 2000

dollars, as I sed, you pay david for a limited time to use the enjen ,+ you

have to share a proffet with him for each game you sell
but if your already

studdying a  programming langwage, the best thing is to stik with that - you

have more flexability ,more freedom, and a good lot more

I think you can chose to share the profit with him or pay extra per

year.  Funnily enough the exe is the same for the engine as it is in the

retail distrobution of the game (if you had a developer key you could just

copy say, sod.exe and use it as the engine to make a new game) which sis

annoying since it could probably be loads smaller if he made a separate

runner program which just ran the files and didn't also risk his engine

being tampered with.

Interesting, I'll look at tank commander.
