To progress further than the inicial 7 levels, ---- all the way down to floor fifteen and eventually floor 25, ---- as well as get such diverse job choices as bard and paladin, you can go here to buy the game

Have fun dodging all those new nasties, ---- and expect further nastosity to come creeping out of the tombs of doom soon!

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

Does this mean 2.43 is available now? Because I've downloaded it since I saw your post and it's still 2.42. So either there's a mixup with the links or your post is several days late LOL.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

I just got the link to the update file, it's http://www.blind-games.com/EntombedUpdate.exe

Hth.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

Hi. I bought the game and whent to the main menue. I selected upgrade and then created an account. I then logged in with that acount. It said unable to connect. This might be because the web-site is down or your computer does not have an internet connection. I am using a wireless vista lap top computer, i have a good internet connetion, and i don't think the site is down. wHATS GOING ON! tHANKS

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

I haven't had this issue myself or heard of it on the entombed list.

Possibly a firewall or in built vista security features?

I really! suggest you contact jason about it, sinse obviously if there is something going wrong in the sign up process he needs to know about it. He's certainly been very prompt about sorting out other peoples account issues.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

I suppose I could've put this in its own thread elsewhere, but figured I'd ask here since we're talking about updates and things.
It seems like no matter which setup file I try to use, my computer tries to install an older version of Entombed. I have no idea why it's doing it. The version it keeps trying to install is 0.0.9, for some reason, and it doesn't matter which setup file I use. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this? I suspect it might be a registry problem, but am not sure.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

It's not a registry problem, it's simply Jason not having updated the version numbers in the enstall program. The current setup file (the one I linked to above), will install version 2.42, and the update will install 2.43 (the true version number will be read at the main menue of the game), ---- in fact I wouldn't be surprised if the main entombed setup file hasn't already been upgraded to 2.43, ---- though as the next version is expected this week its entirely possible Jason is simply waiting to update the main setup with that one.

All this aside, just use the update files and ignore the setup wizard, ---- I'll mention this on the entombed list just to stop further confusion.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

Again, something mildly technical, but I figure here's as good a place as any.

Here's exactly the problem I've had with Entombed:
I was having some issues getting the program to accept a proper username and password. I was getting some sort of socket error, the nature of which I'm not fully sure I understand. I first tried to uninstall and reinstall Entombed, which didn't work. I then tried to uninstall and reinstall the .net frameworks that Entombed comes packaged with. No dice there, either; in fact, that one caused Jaws 9.0 to stop working properly with Firefox and caused Jaws 10 (I had a demo till I got a full version) to stop working altogether. Worst off yet, for some reason the .net frameworks wouldn't install properly...it kept saying I couldn't connect properly, despite my having a perfectly secure net connection. Long story short, I reinstalled the .net frameworks via executables without net help (someone sent them to me), tried reinstalling Entombed again (after having uninstalled it first)...and now no matter what I do, Entombed throws up a huge list of errors every time I try and load it.
In other words: I've got the .net frameworks up, I've got Entombed supposedly downloaded, I've tried using the update, and nothing works. All this because I dared to uninstall Microsoft's .net framework in the thought that maybe a glitch with it was messing with Entombed authorization.
Just thought I'd let you all know: if for some reason you want to uninstall your .net framework for any reason, pray that you have better luck than me. It looks like I'm not going to be able to play the game till I can format my machine or until someone tells me how to fix my issue. Heh. A pity, too.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

The only suggestion I can make is try deleting your saved games folder in my documents, just in case that got corrupted.

Also, you didn't need to manually install the net frameworks in the first place sinse entombed will link to and download them automatically while installing if their not on the host machine.

short of an earlier time restore, I'm not sure what to do, ---- but I really! think you need to E-mail jason about this.

remember, part of the reason for the pre-release beta testing is to find bugs, and that goes for the account system too, ---- actually version 2.44 which came out yesterday has got more account management options and a stabler system, ---- pluss username and password retreaval.

Therefore when you get errors, it's more likely to be a conflict with the program itself than some sort of external cause like the net frameworks, ---- which is all the more reason to let Jason know.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

That's what I mean though, Dark. The .net frameworks and things -weren't installing properly. They'd try, and what I'd get is something like "attempting to connect to server (1 of 5)". Once those attempts ran out, it'd give up trying to install, so I had to install manually using setup files that didn't use the net to download their content.
I didn't see a point in emailing Jason just at the moment because the errors I'm getting seem to be Windows-related, not Entombed-related. They reference a lot of Windows files. The saved games folder has been emptied, I've tried everything I know and nothing works. I won't bother trying again till I format.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

Hmmm, most crazy indeed, ---- I'm afraid I'm out of suggestions on that, sinse I've installed entombed on both my machines without an issue, ---- and this problem hasn't been mentioned on list.

I'm sorry it has to go to such lengths as formatting, ---- though at least you'll have it to look forward to when all those shinanigans are done with.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

Assuming you've checked that it isn't any kind of firewall interfering.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

It was working before, you see. I was able to play the demo and things, it was just upgrading I was having an issue with. Oh well, the old beast needs a format anyway.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

I just upgraded to the full version, so you may not see me out here as much for I don't know how long.  Somewhere in between playing Dragon Tavern and Entombed, I'll try and be out here though.  You're all great.  I'm ranked third amongst those born under the Forceful Whip in DT.  I just hope I can do as well on entombed.  It is quite challenging  after all.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

Moderation!

You get one warning semmes 2.

Discussion of cracks is very much not permitted on this forum, sinse we're here to promote audio game developement.

One more comment like that and you'll be banned before you can say transgression.

Sinse Entombed's future developement is entirely dependent upon how well it sells, your remark in this instance is doubly in bad taste.

Please do not discuss SUCH things on this forum again.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

I'm glad I'm not in charge... I'll leave the task of moderating to those who can do it better than I, though I must say, I completely agree with this stance on the issue.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

Dark, I suspect what you mean is "don't discuss such things on here again" rather than "don't discuss things on here again".

I'll similarly deal with any discussion of cracks, but I'm open to people reforming. Or at least limiting themselves to fully free games.

Re: my shield is like a shield of steel!

Woopse, word missed there Cx2, ---- memo to self, do not moderate forum after 28 hours awake and a guide dog assessment ;D. Fixed now though.

Semmes 2 is of course absolutely welcome (and most encouraged), to discuss anything game related that does not include cracking or go against the guide lines here, ---- hence giving a warning, ---- however I will say we do take such things rather seriously, because of the potential they have to harm the very small audio games markit and sales, ---- really the developers need every sale possible to keep going entombed even collects donations too,---- which is fair enough considdering Jasons' been developing the game solidly for the last two years.

It's certainly a completely different matter from copying music and the like, ---- hence the strong policy against such things.

Anyway, enough is enough, ---- back to the game!
