I'm just wondering, is it still possible to fund the game? This looks really, really cool, but every time I tried to click the link it gave me something about the page being stale and to try again

Kickstarter campaigns only run for a limited time—our campaign ended back in February. Sometime in the future we will be adding a donations widget to our website and people will be welcome to offer more support if they wish by donating that way. We can't add it yet because we're in the middle of some paperwork involving tax ID, PayPal, business bank accounts, and fun stuff like that—one of the variables that is causing us to be unable to give a firm release date as we can't finish certain things that need to happen before release until that's all taken care of. It's not a problem—just the joys f doing business.

But in short: you can't donate through the Kickstarter, and the donation incentives are no longer offered. However, if anyone does want to support us out of the goodness of their hearts, that will be an option once we have the PayPal donation option set up. We'll definitely let you al know here and on Twitter when that's the case. Thanks for asking, and for your interest in the project!

Joseph,
People can support the game by spreading the news about it, sharing the game's web site and links to audio demos.
Are you going to be at one of the blind Conventions?

damn! I would've loved the collector's edition with the item pack and from the sounds of the game would've happily paid more than 60 for it
guess I'll just make due with the game though whenever it comes out, definitely sounds like it'll be a blast to play
just wish I'd seen this sooner, rofl

Hi
I have a question:
One of the things that makes the game really awesome is that you can hear monsters and enemies sounds and their business around you, making you feel the real combat and adventure. But my question is: do all foes have sounds, or they'll be some foes or bosses we'll incounter don't do any business while battling. It'll be great if that all foes have their sounds and business while you decide your action during a combat.

Kind regards!

Can I ask what you mean by business?

Muhammad,
When you wrote, all foes have their sounds and business while you decide your action during a combat.
I think you mean their weapon sounds, voice, and footsteps.
Voices might be a problem if they are talking while you go through a list of voiced choices.
The game producers could be smart and have all human foes stop talking but breathe, cough, yawn and grumble while you make your choice.

Phil: Sadly I'm not going to have the available vacation time to make it to any of the conventions you mentioned. Ian might be at one of them—not positive—though he wouldn't be there specifically as a representative of Out of Sight Games.

DD: No promises, but there's a chance a limited number of the collector's editions may be available for purchase at some point.

Muhammad: Most, if not all, enemies will have ambient sounds during battle, yes. If there are any who don't, it will just be because it doesn't make thematic sense for them to make any sort of noise.

Phil again: This is a good idea, but because of the way things are structured it'd be difficult to pull off. I think for most players, any enemy dialogue won't present a problem because the screen reader speech will be centered and full volume whereas the enemy dialogue will be at the enemy's location and attenuated for distance. Still, someone pointed out to us that this might present an issue for people with hearing loss or any sensory processing issues that cause them to have difficulty focusing on a specific sound—so we're looking into hopefully including an option to disable enemy chatter in combat menus as an accessibility option.

2017-05-26 02:56:04

Joseph,
Having the enemy voices too loud while choosing your action could be handled by a hot key that reduces all sounds except for the menu voice with a hot key.
Many games use the page up and page down keys to raise and lower the background music.
You could assign shift page up and down for enemy voices and control page up and down for the menu voice.

2017-05-26 03:14:05

Menu voice would be possible to adjust for sapi, but not for individual screen readers... so it would make most sense only to have a hotkey that turns enemy chatter up or down, or shuts it up altogether.

which classes can battle ghosts? i don't think the thief or warrior can since they both use physical attacks. i think the mage can.

Phil, you're correct about volume control, and we're planning to expose some of the volume control to players. The decision mostly comes down to which sounds are controlled by the volume adjustments and which aren't, or if we simply have a master audio volume slider that controls everything except music and TTS.

Excuse me, waiter? Could you please tell the chef that the New York steak should be just slightly burnt on both sides (just enough to seal in the juices), and that exactly two dashes of salt and should be rubbed lightly on the meat in concentric patterns? Also, the soup should have a 3 to 1 ratio of meats and vegetables, respectively, and that under no circumstances should he use yellow onions as that would discolor the dish? Make sure he uses strictly red onions picked just the night before. The salad should be very light on croutons, and those that are there should be made from well seasoned Italian bread from only the finest bakery. Remember that the mushroomed should be brazed with oil made from baby whale blubber to give it that refined, smooth texture, and that every prawn should be arranged just so that each tail forms the spoke of a great wheel. Please inform the chef that he should be delivering an in-depth description of each and every ingredient, how these flavours are expected to contribute to the meal, as well as a detailed history of each and every establishment from which he procured his ingredients, all while he's busy cooking my meal.

Oh, and waiter? I'd like that dish to be ready an hour ago, please.

@joseph, I'm just curious, if that actually happens would it be announced anywhere apart from here? like, does the game have a twitter page or something?

Hi.
Keep up the fantastic job guys.
Is there any news regarding the full graphics in the game, and will all the characters have voiceovers when the game is released? It's fantastic if you've managed to both make full graphics and full voiceovers that fast. I'm extremely excited...

Best regards SLJ.
Feel free to contact me privately if you have something in mind. If you do so, then please send me a mail instead of using the private message on the forum, since I don't check those very often.

Joseph, thanks for the updates, and you must have the patience of a saint to put up with all the impatient people out there asking you the same question about release date over and over again.

Keep up the good work.

2017-05-26 12:26:32

Joseph,
Kai
reminds me that you really need to decide what food is served in the city of Farhaven.
After all if your small band of allies begin to gain weight their attacks will be sluggish and not as effective.
Each one should have a weight counter and the tavern servers should recommend good neutricious foods.
On the other hand if the band eats too little, they will become week and puny fighters not able to swing their swords and carry heavy armor.
No, wait, this could be a sequel to A Hero's Call.
In A Chef's Call,
you must explore the surrounding taverns, discover
the identity of your enigmatic foods, and save Farhaven from certain Death by chocolate. Do you have what it takes to answer a Chef’s call?

2017-05-26 14:20:17

Hi,
@Phil: oh Joseph understood me and I got the answer big_smile thanks. Yeah, I was meaning foes' ambience sounds during combat like monsters' roars, wolvs' howls, zombies and ghosts' moans, animals and creatures' simple body movment noises, birds' whoops and wings fluttering etc. And I do agree, it'll be way better if we have a master sound volume slider that controls everything, rather than controling or turning off-on each sound individually to avoid difference and contradiction between sounds except music and tts.

Kind regards!

Phil, I laughed out loud when I read the words "A Chef's Call."

Thanks for the encouragement as always, everyone!

SLJ: Yes, every character will be fully voiced for the initial audio release. We're currently getting the processed VO files back from our VO editor—once we have enough I'm hoping to put together a little "Voices of Farhaven" demo reel to give you all a sneak peek of what to expect. I'm really beyond psyched about this voice cast, and love what they've done with all the different characters.

Graphics are going to take a lot longer, which is part of why we've decided to do an audio-only release first, followed by a release with full graphics down the road. We're just finalizing the initial contract with our artist at present, but it will definitely take some time to get the assets prepared and then rendering properly in-game. But you can expect updates on that, and screenshots and other goodies to share with your sighted friends, as progress is made on that front.

@kai, that was very well written... and a great way to start my morning. A very satirical way of expressing my own views on the whole thing... I loved it! I agree with Joseph... you totally missed your calling as a satirist.

Makes me wish the developers of Three Monkeys had taken this approach, set their sites on a smaller goal. That game sounded like it could have been awesome. But I'm eagerly awaiting AHC and will certainly buy it as soon as finances permit.

But wait, what's that? A transport! Saved am I! Hark, over here! Hey nonny non, please help!
