Hello,
I just got the free version of SL, but every time i try to run it i get a run time error 429 active x control can't create object. any ideas on fixes? I'm on win8.1 pro 64bit. thanks

You're welcome. because the winket has the dx8vb.dll so when you install it, the dll is on your system...

Just get the DLL. It is, among other things, part of Windows XP--if you have that, copy it from \windows\system32 into the equivalent folder on your architecture and then use regsvr32 to register it. This also works in wine. Can help with this if you're stuck.
