I also enjoyed the demonstration, and will most likely be picking the game up on it's release, if not day 1, then soon after.

Hi Liam.
I also like the demonstration, and I'll buy the game when it comes out.
I have a few questions:
1: Will the game support multiplayer at any point?
2: Can you add your own words to the game, maybe in other languages, and can the game be translated? It's quite tricky for those people where english is the second or third language. There are a lot of words in the demonstration which I have no idea on what means. The game is a great way to learn english, but it would still be nice if the game could be translated, so more people can enjoy the game.
3: More and more people are playing games on their virtual machines on their Mac computer, or by using Bootcamp. Is there a possibility that the licens can brake on a virtual machine, and if so, can we just request a new key? How should we prove that we have bought the game when requesting a new key so you know that we're not just requesting a key to get the game for free? What I'm trying to say is that I wanna make sure I can get a new key if the licens get messed up because I'm using a virtual machine. smile
Keep up the fantastic job, and I hope your hearing issues will be solved very soon.

Best regards SLJ.

Probably not upon launch, but I'll look at it. I wouldn't get hopes up for a multi-player mode unfortunately.

I'll look in to this. Theoretically I don't see why not.

Virtual machines won't effect the licensing scheme the games use as it's user name and key based. Yes I realize that opens up for piracy, but I'll be working on handling that

@slj: thanks for the questions, and @liam: thanks for the answers. These make for some interesting points of discussion.
I have a two-part question for now, how did you get the idea for the actual coin sound, and also, how did you get the idea of said sound getting faster and faster? It's quite interesting.

2017-03-07 21:34:43

Liam,
I also enjoyed the demonstration of Brain Station.
You could call it Liam's Brain Station or LBS but some synthesizers would call it pounds.
Have you thought of lazy people wanting to buy extra coins when purchasing the game?
For example $20 gets you the game, $25 gets you 500 coins and $30 gets you 2000 coins.
Also I suggest adding part of your game demonstration to the game as a sound file as an audio instruction manual.

Aaron. I just thought it would be a good way of giving a coin output that would take a year in case you get like 200 coins per game or what not.

Phil. I want to avoid doing coin packs as I'm not a fan of micro transactions. There will be ways to earn extra coins in game with achievements and things of that nature.

@Liam haha, I know that feeling. There's a few mainstream games that sometimes took forever with their coin counts, unfortunately I can't remember the names.

2017-03-08 04:46:25

Liam,
While in the main menu you hit a special key and got extra points. I have to assume that was a feature for the developer to test out games that required hundreds of points.
I also figured for any other player it would only work once.
Other name suggestions,
Liam's Brain.
L-Works Game Circus.
Brain Heebie-Jeebies.
Liam's Naughty Word Bits.
Dr. Liam's Braingasms.
Brainy McBrainface.

liam:
What a wonderful demonstration and game. The ag community does not have many of these games, and I for one am glad to see this type of game in the community. It is a nice break from rpgs and action games. I will most certainly be bying it when it comes out.
Just one question? are you going to add a score system or some sort of points system? That might be more work than it's worth, but was just curious as it might be a cool thing to have.

you could make a space invaders type of spelling game where ships came down and you had to spell a word, like hard words like agoraphobia and stuff like that, and each ship would be shot down if you typed the word correctly. Wrong guesses would cost you points, and you would have to fix the error, like if you tried to spell chair like C, H, A, R, E, well a sound would play when you put R instead of I, and you would then need to type the correct letter, all this time the ship is falling, if it lands, you lose a life., the goal is to win each round by shooting down all the ships in that round.

Ironcross32,
That Space Invaders idea might have been done before. American Printing House has a Talking Typer game.
with it's Hurry Scurry choice,it is  a game that pits you against Merlin the Magician in a race to type characters.
Merlin tells you which letters or phrases to type, and you type them before they fall off the screen.
The letters move from left to right and down the screen.

@17 I got the idea from a sighted game called Z-type, but also from the Apple II E talking typing disk
