This update is pretty much entirely focused on adding more variation to the throne room, I've noticed it can get a little bit tedious over time and I'm trying to make it a little more random, some of the more notable additions include, Fort Gorthmek can assist in defending your kingdom instead of attacking with you, Phenor can offer you a truce if you are evil enough and not just tier 2 troops from independent kingdoms want to join you, other will come too!

I see half of throne room encounters fall into either farmer demanding stuff or someone wanting to join. Sure is cool. Would love to see something more random though.

yeah, a lot of them are new variations on previously fixes one way encounters, the more I do this the less predictible and repetetive the encounters will get, definitely with you on the fact that we need a lot more different and unique stuf though! thanks smile

Bugs and typoes found:
Starving encounter:..can't remember which one, but it's "starving", not "staving".:p
100 burnt request: even if you reject the deal, the trade agreement/alliance request still works.
I'd love text for some scenes too, if possible. Say I don't know what the mad king does when he thinks he's a god. And the face maker's changed face also...at least make something of note that he actually "does something" so as someone who can't see, i know my gold doesn't go to waste. Thank you.

Hi,
I'm a bit stuck. I now ahve 16000 men and have destroyed a few factions, but my gold keeps on going down to 0 each turn, and sometimes not all of the end of turn report text is on screen ebcasue a lot seems to go on now. What can I do to try to gain gold? I'm allied with two factions but can't even afford to send gifts.

There are lots of ways to get gold.
Maybe the bandits are stealing all your gold, so go into the laws menu and turn on some taxes to get money, then you could build the defense palacades upgrade to keep away bandits hopefully.

@Soulkeeper, I love invasions, been thinking about foreign invasions but so far we have, Demon Invasion, Undead Horde Invasion, Void Army Invasion, though only the demon horde is more or less fully finished, I want to work more on the Undead hordes soon!

@Aaron, keep an eye on your end of turn reports, it would explain where your money is going but if not go to kingdom reports and find the expense option, this will show you specifically expenses

Not the biggest update today but lots of cool things added, you can now play rock paper shears with your game master if he has a higher skill than 100 making training a game master more worth while, also you can interact more with shallowrock mine and finally the mountain of Saaroth in the Wild North has been added with quite an interesting little questline, that aside the HUGE bug that caused games to crash when viewing lords has been fixed! and several other things have been changed/fixed, enjoy! smile Also if you haven't already and you like the game please vote for us on greenlight!

Greetings all.

I must admit, I love both warsim and thewastes; by far the best text games ever. I truly love that the games have no ending as nearly everything is randomly generated.

I did wonder about the mad king; I wish I could bring him out of prison as it is my understanding that before you start the game, he's already incarcerated. However, I very much doubt it was on the order of the current king AKA the player; so it must have been the public, the military and the constabulary who incarcerated him. As for the goblin slaver, I always ban goblin slavery but I don't want to incarcerate the goblin slaver; instead, I want to make him a valued member of my staff, even a lord for serving me well. Yes I know, there could be dire consequences for rewarding both the mad king and the goblin slaver if I could reward them but that could be offset with benefits to freeing them.

Finally, how about being able to socialize, marry and produce offspring? Why not enable us to romance someone and they end up becoming the queen? Also, different outcomes would arise if you dated a peasant, a noble, a knight etc. Also, if subjects can marry and you officiate the weddings, popularity would increase. Also, the more you spend on weddings for you and your subjects, the better; providing you officiate.

@Bashue, That initial comment is one the nicest comments I've had about the game so thank you so much!

I would love to allow the mad king to be freed, it was planned and will be done soon, as for the goblin slaver I'll have a look at it, I guess we could say once you ban  goblin slavery do you want to punish those who do it or just stop it from happening, if you choose the latter then perhaps you have the option to hire him, not sure what he could do for you though.

It has been mentioned before, it would be interesting to have children in the game and marriage, I would have to figure out how you would find a wife, perhaps you could arrange for suitors to be brought to court

Some would be Nobility and with marriage you would gain resources, money, even a new land or a strong ally (the issue with alliances is most kingdoms arent even human) but aside from those gains, there would also be personality and trait based gains

so two suitors

Alare of the North (Rank: Nobility) (Marriage Bonus: 1 Land 20 Knights)(Traits: Angry, Unfriendly, Financially Gifted, Lazy, Dishonest)

Salaana of the Winds (Rank: Peasant)(Traits: Skilled Swordswoman, Friendly, Motivated, Honest)

Alare would be instantly better and you would gain more public opinion as she is a noble, however, Salaana would produce better offspring as her traits are more desirable and would pass on to your kin

I would also love to add some kind of cross breeding system, where you could mate with another race and produce some kind of abomination, this would not go down well though and your child would have to be kept hidden from the people or else you would lose face and be considered a maker of monsters

No problem regarding the comment although it truly was meant wholeheartedly. We've just gained 2 choice of games titles and as exciting and story driven as they are, you can get tired of them after a while. With warsim and thewastes, you cannot get tired of them; indeed I've gotten into trouble for playing them during my IT classes. True I don't need the classes but I go to give them new ideas. I did however, manage to get a half hour in but I had to save and put it down because the others got distracted due to the games sounding interesting. As a result, they didn't want to continue with boring exercises on microsoft word. Just 1 down side and that is, don't play if you're feeling sleepy or anyone you're at war with will seriously crush you! I was horrified to find out that I lost 70 knights the next morning. Luckily I didn't save it so I could restore and make a more informed choice about who to attack.

As for creating monsters via interbreeding, I think the more you create, the lower your public opinion for a while but if the trend continues, then over the years, commoners who were also disgraced could seek to live in the castle and they will raise your public opinion. As time goes by, the disgraced will eventually outnumber the bigots and if any citizen is found to be bigoted, they can be banished from the kingdom or even imprisoned. I would seriously love to marry a demon or demons; why not also allow plural marriages? Also, what if because you love your demon wife/wives, you could become a demon yourself? Also, in marrying and or becoming a demon, no demons will ever turn against you because you'll allow them free rain to do whatever they so desire.

Very interesting concept, I had a similar idea planned for the wastes towns, each town was to have a population with tons of individual people, they could be of all professions, personalities and could even be mutants, towns that were predominantly mutant would act differently to towns that were more human, some even were supposed to openly fight with eachother

Loving this game, but it does have some serious balance issues.  Basically it's far too easy.  Even on insane mode, with just 2 lands I recruit 6 knights and gain 1500 gold from their sale, plus other income of course.  The palisades then go up quickly and I can afford to attack and gain 1 land every turn.  I always succeed in every attack.  In just 5 goes I have 5 lands and I am invincible, by the time I can afford any upgrades I do not need them.  The game then becomes a text adventure, an interesting adventure, but not a challenging one.

Yikes, it's been almost two weeks without an update! sorry guys, I've been working my ass off with so many different things I feel like I'm going to explode, I've added a few new things to the game, a new place called the Songmakers hut which create random poems, and added the ability to become a demon lord at the start of the game as a random chance, this will be a bit of a different playthrough, as you will have demon support but you will be hated by the masses, also I've added some more public opinion related changes and some general new editions

* Added Public order limit on pay rise encounter
* Added lower public order means less throne room visitors (dynamic)
* Fixed goblin scourge law not working
* Made goblin slaves stack each turn
* Added a max level to amount of goblin slaves that can be had
* Added ability to free the mad king
* Fixed gameover screen
* Added Songmakers hut to Songwood in the west

* Blocked anti-demon assistance if you are the demon king

Mata, as I stated - it is insane mode, and it cannot be luck that I always get 3 knights per land and neither is it luck that I win every battle.  If it were luck these things would vary.  I now have 30 lands and recruit 90 knights from the land alone.  Other knights and soldiers come from elsewhere and I can train goblins into soldiers and soldiers into knights.  In this way I have just sold 1000 knights for 250, 000 gold.  No skill required.
