Would you be able to make an MP3 so that it is available to more people? Josh, if you want to read a review of the product, go to afb.org/aw.

regarding the recording, this recording is extra loud due to the mic i used. in reality the sound is much quieter. there are also other factors in play that make the recording louder than it is in reality. keep this in mind when you listen to the recording. this is a very close-up somewhat distorted recording. what you hear when you purchase the final product will sound much quieter and better than the close-up distorted recording.

Hello,

Is the display really that loud when refreshing? I'd think that would create unwanted noise.

no it is much quieter. i had the mic right next to it and volume boost turned on in the recording. it is in reality very very very quiet.

Josh, how did you get the prototype anyway? Are they allowing field testing for it?

2016-10-15 02:19:17

Josh, in my previous post, I asked if you could convert the file to MP3 so that it is in a more common file format.

yes they are allowing field testing. I just got picked because of the squeaky wheel. right now all testing demo prototype units are out in the field being tested.

That sounds like a lot of cheapy plastic! I guess that's kind of the point. At any rate, it does sound loud. I'd like a more realistic recording to better judge how noisy the typing and refresh will actually be. From what I hear there, it sounds like the Orbit would be super disturbing in a quiet classroom, office, or bedroom while your partner is sleeping. Thanks for putting this up, and thanks for the MP3. Much easier just to hit that link and open it right up in my media player.

Sugar and spice, and everything ....

it only sounds like that because i had the mic right next to the device practically right up against it. should i make another recording with the mic about a foot or so away? would that be better?

I think the boost exaggerates things tremendously. If you're going to redo this recording, take that boost down by a lot. If it really must be there, go down by about half. Your voice is also highly distorted, and that makes for an unpleasant listening experience.

The glass is neither half empty nor half full. It's just holding half the amount it can potentially hold.
