I have owned IOS devices for a while now. I picked up a IPhone 6s today. I am going to restore the Backup of my IPod touch to my IPhone. I am thinking that this should go off without a problem seeing that both has the same amount of storeage. I have the IPod touch fifth gen. Anyway, what was the number to change the bars to the DB display I have heard about in other podcast? Will there be any problems when it comes to the restore proccess I am going to follow? I am sure I will come up with other questions later, but this should be enough for now.

Ok. Thanks. I will put that in as soon as all of my data copies over. I am going to have to get used to have no keypad on my phone. Of course I am used to the touch screen of other IOS devices, but this is the first touch screen phone I had. I am going to have to get used to it. Thing looks like a computer to me. rofl.

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!
What do you think a smart phone is? ;-)

If I ever decide to upgrade my iPhone 5s, it will be to an iPhone SE, or what ever is the same size as the 5s.

@CW, do you use braille?

2016-09-03 15:24:09

Yes I know it's a computer in my pocket, but convincing my finger or should I say the little voice in the back of my head that I will be dialing on a touch screen from here on out is a bit of a hump to get over. ROFL. I tried the braille input mode on other IOS devices and found that it is not my favorite way of putting in data. I do not own a Bluetooth display yet, but sometimes I wish I could use my PAC mate’s display with it. I haven’t yet figured out the best way to use the whole 3D touch feature yet, so any good tips there would be helpful. Now to go double check my plan to see if it includes the hotspot feature. I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t seeing that I went with as little data as possible seeing that I spend a lot of time around Wi-Fi hot spots. I figure that 3 gigs was enough to start off with and I will see if I will be turning that up soon. LOL. Of course my pocket book will have to allow for that. Now there is a GPS app I heard about that I am thinking about getting. I believe it is called “Nearby Explorer”, but don’t quote me on it. Is that app any good? It was talked about on main menu in the last week or two.

From my experience, and it's been a few years since I looked at cellular plans, your plan has to allow being a hotspot for that feature to work.

As I understand it, 3D touch is optional, I know that if I ever get a phone with it, I'm turning it off.

I know what you mean about getting used to no physical keyboard, I went through the same thing when I got my first smart phone. But I had the advantage that at that time I hadn't yet lost my vision.

Yeh well, I am used to dealing with input on the IPad and the IPod touch. So, the IPhone isn't all that much different on how it works. You know how it is when you reach into your pocket to drag out that phone to make a call and you want to think that there is no way an IPod touch will place phone calls. LOL. What I dread is those menu trees where I have to press one for this, two for that and three for the other thing. I really having to get used to holding a big slab up to my face to just talk on the phone. A headset should fix that problem in a pinch. As it is so hapens, I am in search of a freen ring tune that sounds good to me. Maybe I should go make it. I want it to sort of be a one of a kind. I am asuming I can cut up an MP3 and do other things to it along with converting it to a M4R file without paying a lot of cash to do so...

I wouldn't consider a blutooth keyboard as long as I have the braille keyboard built-in. It's like having a small braille notetaker with you. I personally use it a lot, and don't see anything that cannot be useful there. It's not as fast as typing on a computer keyboard, but it comes close to it if you are accustomed to.

Hmmm. I will have to learn the braille keyboard on it at some point then. Anyway, my top priority is best managing my data. 3 gigs is the best I can afford at this time. System services under cellular has caught my eye. I am on Wi-Fi a lot, so I am hoping that I will not go over my data cap. As you can see, I don’t like seeing data just flying out the window when I am out of Wi-Fi range and not doing anything with the data. Guess I could turn off the data when ever I am not using it, but that gets rid of visual voice mail until I turn data back on.

Well, in the mobile data in settings, you can always turn off apps that you don't want to use your mobile data, so you're safer on the data you spend.

2016-09-05 01:38:41

True, but I can not cut any off that is under System services. I do got wi-fi assist turned off too. I also went and turn off ICloud drive syncing over cellular and just about anything else I could find that I didn't want going over the cell network. The only thing I could not get turn off at this time was exchanged accounts under System services. Don't know why that is on when I turned off mail. I turn off mail because I know I can weight until I am getting where I am going before I get mail, but no, the phone has to treet exchange accounts differently in this way. Anyway, it looks like everything else under there is small enough to not really be that worried about at this time. This really does look like the case of apple thinking they know better. On the other hand, the phone seems to be working mostly right for me.
