Yesterday, Draconis made the following announcement reguarding their game keys.

Sinse this is a fairly important one, it's probably best for them to use their own words rather than paraphrasage from me, so Quothe Draconis:

"Greetings gamers,

Our new automated ordering system will be going live in the next
couple of days, and with this new system come some changes, some of
which are very important, so please read this entire message.

1. Future titles will require online activation. You will be able to
activate and deactivate your games, but you will be limited to only a
certain number of concurrent installations.  This will effect only
future titles.

2. Between now and midnight PDT on 16/June/2009, we will fill any
requests for replacement registration keys at the usual cost of the
replacement. (This is typically 25% of the original cost of the game,
with a minimum of $5, per key.)  Requests should be sent to
[email protected]
After that time, Draconis will no longer be offering replacement
registration keys under any circumstances. If you need a replacement,
you need to get it now.

We regret the need to make these changes, but piracy and the sharing
of keys has, sadly, become an epidemic.

We look forward to providing you with some new games soon for Mac,
Windows, and maybe another platform as well...and I don't mean Linux.
*wink*"

With our dreaming and singing, Ceaseless and sorrowless we! The glory about us clinging Of the glorious futures we see,
Our souls with high music ringing; O men! It must ever be
That we dwell in our dreaming and singing, A little apart from ye. (Arthur O'Shaughnessy 1873.)

As always, backing up your key  information is vitally important if you care about your investment in audio games.

Hmm, another platform. Given they state it isn't linux it is really intriguing what it might be. It would be interesting if they managed to make a game for a mainstream console, though I'm not sure how likely that would be. The only other alternative I can think of would be one or another kind of phone, and the recent announcement that the new iPhones makes that a possible option since Josh seems to love Apple so much... but as far as I knew you could only buy iPhone software through Apple's own app store.

Edit:
I imagine they will update their web site soon?
