When I
did check Mike's site, it had the following.
Free Domain Name -
www.YOU.co.nr
yes it is at the bottom of the page, but it makes no
difference. Whether or not a certain piece of access technology works well
or not isn't the issue. I think the issue is that someone doesn't like
the fact I am trying to make money. Let's face it, this is the problem.
You don't like the fact that I don't run ads, ads help me keep producing
games, there for you don't like the fact I'm trying to make money. I also
suggest you refrain from calling my fellow developers idiots. Mike, you
will find that in a professional environment, that kind of talk burns
bridges. As a developer, I can say that after reading your posts I would
never do any sort of business with you. I find you to be very childish.
I'm not sure how old you are, nor do I care. But, here's a piece of
advice from one stable developer to an "Aspiring" one. Grow up. Do this
community a favor, and grow up. I know I've written this before, but I am
forced to go on a major tirade, so bare with me. I am not the smartest
person by any means. I am not the best coder, designer, or writer. I do
have one thing that helps me out. This is common sense. A lot of younger
developers lack this severely. I tend not to visit this forum due to the
lack of intelectually stimulating conversation that has appeared to taken
place as of late. I'm certainly glad to see that there are those who can
express themselves in an adult fashion. Now, am I no way suggesting that I
am an intelectual giant, I am only stressing that I feel these forums are
pointless to read at times. But, let me get back to why I am writing this.
When a young developer feels that he/she want to create a game, or start
a so called game company the following happens. First, they think of a
name, usually like Franky's game company. Second, they then make up an
idea for a game. Franky's game company presents shoot the frog. Then, and
this is my favorite part. They decide to release a "press release". I use
the term press release lightly. It looks more like this. Hi Everyone I
have an awesome game Im werking on it's called shoot the frog you'll like
it alot it's eksiting. Finally, they get a free website, learn the basic
basic html tags, and start there site. Of course, they forget the most
important part. They forget to learn to program in a suitable programming
language.
To be fair. I have seen a few developers who have plopped
down some quality work. this is the kind of thing that makes me happy. I
started LWorks when I was 16, and my first project was horible. However, I
never have called LWorks a company, and I also never make myself look bigger
than I actually am. Oh, and one more thing. I never release info about a
game until I can learn how to code it. There have been projects I have
released info on, and haven't finished, but this is due to time constraints
and not my lack of knowledge. I have working prototypes of everything I
have ever posted about.
In conclusion. if you are going to write a
game, or start a company, and btw company is the wrong damn word. But, I
will save that for a different soap box. anyways. If you want to write
games, that's fine. But, don't start crying when noone gives you respect.
Mike. I do not have any respect for you as a programmer, until you can
prove to me you know what you're doing. If you want to blow smoke, that is
terific. When you have been doing this for three years, have released
several successful titles, and have had a chance to speak at conventions,
then look me up. I'd be honored to congratulate you myself. And, I'm not
bringing these things I've done up to make myself look bigger or better. I
just want to make a point. Anyways. I know this strayed so far from google
ads, and I know that it is sloppily written, but I hope that everyone learns
at least one thing from this post. If you want to send any questions,
comments, or hate mail my way you can do that at [email protected].
