Hi all.

Apple has just released a new version of Itunes which is 100% screenreader friendly, which is really awesome. So now, we can use Itunes both on a Windows machine and a Mac computer to sync an Ipod. well, when I got the new Ipod, I don't think I want to use Itunes to sync my Ipod. I want to copy my music to the device using file explorer in Windows, or Finder in Mac.
I have just found an awesome website, which describes a lot of cool alternatives ways to put music and stuff on a Ipod. I haven't tried these applications on my Windows machine or on my Mac, since I haven't got an Ipod yet.

Here is the link to the site:

Please let me know if you find one of these applications accessible and usable.

Best regards SLJ.

I know I use winamp to put my music on the IPod. It's kind of clunky doing it, but it works. OH yeh, did I tell you that ITunes has a fit, because it thinks I put music on it from another computer. Now if and when I get the new nano, I'm going to do alot of trying out. Will I use winamp or ITunes to put music on it? I might try that site sometime.

Wow. How do you put music on your Ipod using Winamp? How awesome. I didn't thought Winamp have that feature. What Ipod do you have?

I have the therd gen of the IPod nano and winamp v5.5..41. It's how you use the lbrary in winamp. First you need to install the portible  player section of the library. Next, I would suggest that you make a playlist and add it to winamp's library. Forgot what the exzack command, but you will want to tell winamp to send it to the IPod. I think there is a send to button. I haven't done it in a few weeks, and I don't know rather or not it will work with the new nanos. After all it isn't ITunes. Sorry about being vaig for the min.

Sounds awesome. Where do you find the portible player section?

When you are install winamp, there is a treeview of sorts of check boxes. There is a library in this treeview. open that branch and you will find it listed. check it along with anything else that you want installed like the CD ripping thing. Now if you are finished with the setup and wondering where the portable section is then control tab over to the library and tab in to the treeview. Then you start hitting P until you get to it.

I must worn you though, if you want the spoken word thing, then your best bet is to use ITune.

Yeah. I know. when i get my device, I'll try to let it create the spoken menus, and then find another way to put music on it.
Well. I'll wait and see how easy it really is to transfer music to an Ipod with Itunes on my Mac.

SLJ, THere's just 1 problem. as far As I can guess, when you transfer the music itunes updates the speech files.
so, say you have 3 files. recording001 recording002 and recording003. you enable the talking menus and the 3 files are spoken. you transfer a 4th file named track11, with winamp for example. now the Ipod doesn't announce it.

My point is only to get speech on the menus. If I can put my music in folders like albums, I know what I have put on the device, and then I don't need to have all the titles spoken.
The problem would be if I choose to shuffle the songs or if I choose to let the device organize the songs in other ways. I don't know what organizeing features it have.
I don't think I'll need speech on the songs. But who knows. Maybe I'll like it when I try it?
