Sounds good to me. I don't like forming backstories if I can, mainly because I'm not good at it. I'd rather forge my story from the time I start playing unless their is a specific reason why I can't.

I am wondering something. If I bought a handcart or something, where do I put it while I'm in the inn having a quick bite and a drink?

hello, can someone please ither give me the key for the bt sync Folder for the soundpack or the Forum link to the key?

I used to be a knee like you, then I took an adventurer in the arrow.

You don't keep the hand cart, when you're done with it take it back to the shop you got it from and type return hand. You'll get 180 out of the 200 riln cost back so it really only costs 20 riln to rent plus a 180 riln deposit.

Their is no btsync for either of the packs. Go get them off of the bbs.

Just wanted to drop a quick note, that in celebration of the recent influx of new players, we've decided to enable a skill gain multiplier for the weekend.

Several of our users have made sound packs that are available for download on our BBS.  There's a couple links earlier in this thread, but here's another (possibly more recent) soundpack for VIPMud: http://bbs.contrarium.net/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=4274

We're always willing to listen to and seriously consider any accessibility-requested suggestions, so don't hesitate to let us know if you think something could be done better.

Thanks, that looks better than the 2.5 soundpack for various reasons.

As for skill gain multiplier weekend, wooh!!!!! I thought my skill gains had suddenly jumped up a bit.

No kidding. For example, you could type "coord" with the earlyer pack and get the X and Y coords. For a while I thought that was part of the game until I looked at my logs. LOL. Anyway, I am wundering if the sound pack I got is slowing things down.

Hi,
I have been playing and enjoying Clok since a few weeks now, although  a bit slow due to exams and such, I have been doing just fine.
I also whent with the mercs on the cha I play the most (bayus), but it could seriously do with some more features, storage for personal arsenal, special armor weapons etc, as it stands its the guild with the least services sept the very new guild.
The one guild I have been wanting to try is templers, but even after reading the lore pages most of them anyway, I haven't been able to think of where this guy came from and so on (my alt that I would need to create a backstory for).
What does the process of getting into the templers consist of anyway? I've also heard of some other knight like guards or such, but no information is available anywhere.
I'll actually be sticking with the 2.5 soundpack, and see if I can replace the combat file and make changes if there are any that need changing from this new pack to the old 2.5 pack.
This pack is good, but for me speed walks do matter and right now, if I were to use a pack with no speed walk all I'd be able to do is go out of mistral, forage and come back. I sure as heck could not travel from one town to other with my shitty directional abilities. I've also made a few changes like sounds on forageing and such that I'd like to keep,so 2.5 if I can get it to work is what I'll be sticking to.

Fair enough. I have no idea where to go to make  the speedwalks  from mistral work. Then again, I much rather learn the routs so that I don't have to tell it rather or not I'm on a hourse. I'm not totally sure what to do with my logs once I cut the trees down. I did some karving, but I have a few of those I have no idea what to do with. I also need to pick up some weapons and armor. I really don't know what ones are good. I also have no idea did what to do with my tree felling wood chopping ax yet. It won't fit in any backpack I have. LOL. Hopefully kalal has not been a pain in the backside of anyone yet. The fishing is kind of interesting at times. Right now, everything I have done was around mistral lake.

Axes including logging axes can fit in a haft frog used as a sheath. As for logs, don't chop the logs up keep them as large logs and either sell them in a market like with foraging or buy a permit for the local mill, use the mill to turn them first into cants then flitches and sell the flitches at a market which gets you a better price. Hand carts are very useful for this. Just don't bother with pine trees, they're worth peanuts. Oh and beware spiders falling out of the trees you're logging.

The branches you get from logging can either be used to grind up your woodworking skill, if you carve arrows you can also increase your fletching skill at the same time, or you can just toss them. You could also keep some bark shavings, gained from carving the branches for the first time to strip it off, to use as kindling for fires and some kindling, made by chopping a small branch or small stave, in case you need to make a fire and don't have an axe handy for making the kindling. A campfire requires 3 tinder which is the shavings, 4 kindling, and at least 4 branches but you can forage for branches or for deadwood if you're in a wooded area.

As always, thanks for the info. I chopped down a tree today only to have it fall on me. Of corce I died from it, and I think someone else may had died from it too. One other person was in the area as I was and someone had to heal them at the same time as me. LOL. To bad I didn't know that they got hirt too until I was brought around to my senses. LOL. Four logs made into flitches brought me 80 rilm. The same amount of logs without that would had brought 25.

What kind of tree was it? Like I said pine trees are worth peanuts, many tree types such as spruce, oak and birch will get you around 120 riln just for the logs and closer to 400 for the flitches.

And yeah, trees landing on you's always a risk. You may find armour helpful, at least in vital areas like head and body. If you don't have guild abilities that are impacted by armour such as magic then I'd seriously suggest at least a helmet of some kind and a cuirass even without logging.

I was loging around mistral, and the trees I went after was oak. Today I cfelled to trees and converted them to flitches. I got a little under 200 for them, but that might be because of my skills... Those hand carts are small. I also got lucky today. I had one fall on me, and I was also attacked about the same time. I did make it to a healler though and got fixed up.

You should be able to fit all four logs from a tree in a handcart, but the mud puts branches in there for some reason as well which can clog it up. You can type
transfer branch from hand to ground
To ditch them. You can also
transfer log from ground to hand
and
transfer flitch from carrier to hand
When you're in the mill.

Vinz just ran a digger hole and whew. Fun as hell, spammy as hell, and we were dropping like flies. Still if nothing else I think I took a few hits on behalf of one of our healers. Overall it was a rather amazing experience, not something I'd care to do every day but there's a real thrill in it.

The rilm I made was from making to trees in to flitches. I can get the flitches from two trees in the handcart if I make them in to flitches. LOL. Maybe I should forage more and buy a horse and cart.

Very strange. Are you sure you converted all 8 logs into flitches? You should have ended up with 32 flitches from that many trees.

I am sure. I got 160 for 32 flitches. maybe the price is different in different towns?

Hmm, perhaps. All I know is that both Shadgarde and Haiban seemed to be offering me about 30 riln per oak log and close to 400 for 16 flitches. Pine by contrast only got me about 6 riln per log.

We've had a lot of new players coming in recently.   If anyone has any questions that I can help with, you can find me on the game as Audra, Dianne, or boriguard.  Audra is a monastic order hopeful, Boriguard is a Utasa, and Dianne is a Dwaedn Wyr.  I also have an artisan that I don't play often, but, I've been playing the game for a little over a year now.  look me up or just say hi!  I'm always glad to help when and where I can.  You all have a great day.

There is way too much blood in my caffine system!  I require coffee in great amounts for total thought processes.

Hi Everyone.
I'm in the town of haiban and was wondering if someone can tell me where to find some monsters to fight? I really want to see what combat is like in this game.

The Shadgarde graveyard is good. Before you set off make sure you have enough rations and bandages though, the bandages will help heal any scrapes you get.

To get there head out of the town into the wilderness, in case you don't know go to the entrance area and go arch then wander. From there go south then southeast, then join a patrolman as they come through. They'll escort you to the other side of the pass where you can leave their group and from there just head southeast/east until you get to a fork where the road heads south and follow that all the way down until you can't go any further, for now there'll be some pumpkin lanterns there as a useful landmark. From there go northwest, west, go trail, go gate.

Remember you will need to eat your rations as you go along, use status to check your fatigue and hunger and if you're hungry go ahead and eat one. You don't need to eat at slightly hungry unless you don't think you'll have much chance in the near future, like if you know you're heading into a fight.
